Hubli is a city in the Indian state of Karnataka along with its twin city Dharwad. Hubli also called as Hubballi the name comes from the term Hoovina Balli which means ‘Flowering Creeper’ in Kannada. The second biggest city in the state by population and the biggest city in North Karnataka.
This past town was called as Raya Hubli also as Elaya Puravada Halli during the ancient times. This city transmogrify into an important commercial centre of trade in cotton and iron during the reign of the Vijaynagara empire.
The city is noteworthy for its handloom textile units and has numerous number of cotton and processing mills. Cotton, groundnuts and peanuts for the Americans, they are grown in a lot from the surroundings of rural areas. Hubli serves major trading centre for both commodities. It’s an important city for Indian Railways, being the headquarters for South Western Railway Zone and the Hubli Division.
The houses have largest number of government offices outside Bangalore. In 2016, Hubli-Dharwad was selected for solar city and green city. The government of India included Hubballi-Dharwa for a smart city project, and development of infrastructure in the twin-cities. Hubli is famous for Moorusavira Matha also declared and established by a Sharana of Basaveshwara’s time.
The word “Dharwad” means rest on a long journey, for centuries Dharwad acted as the gateway between the Malenadu region, and it’s a resting place for travelers. The Dharwad district consist many tourist attractions including temples and historical monuments.

Hubli Dharwad is a twin city. Dharwad is the cultural headquarters of North Karnataka. The city spans over an area of 191 sq.km. Dharwad is located at a comfortable distance of 425km from Bangalore, 421 km from Pune. The city is easily reachable as it is exactly on the National Highway 4. The name of the city was derived from Sanskrit meaning Door town. At Kundgol there is a huge Shiva temple from the 11th century called Shri Shambhulingeshwara Temple built by Western Chalukyas. It is built with highly polished stones, which are dovetailed into one another. The carvings and images on the pillars are well cut. On the side of the door steps of the temple, carvings of the Lion face a long scroll issuing from its mouth.
This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Parvati. Although damaged, the exterior of the temple is decorated with lotus and kirtimukha faces and has hundreds of images.
There are two water bodies near the temple which are dying. They need to be saved.

Sri Ramachandresvara Shambulingesvara Temple, Kundgol (exterior)
Sri Ramachandresvara Shambulingesvara Gudi (known as Shambulingesvara Gudi) is a 11th century temple built by the Kadambas and then later renovated by Chalukyas. The temple has 64 lathe turned & polished pillars with rich designs. The temple is dedicated to Shiva Linga. Color of Shiva Linga is pale brown which is supposed to be rare.
Kundgol is a Taluqa place in Dharwad district of Karnataka.

Bucesvara Temple, 12th-century @ Koravangala village, Karnataka, India.
Bucesvara temple is a 12th-century Hindu temples in Koravangala village, Karnataka, India. The most sophisticated historical temple in the village, it is considered to be the flag-bearer of Hoysala architecture and was built in 1173 AD by a rich officer called Buci (or Buchiraja) during the reign of king Ballala.
The temple is to the north of the village and was built . The inscription states that it marks the coronation of Hoysala King Veera Ballala II . Koravangala was a major town in pre-14th century Karnataka, featuring at least six temples on the eastern banks of a manmade lake
It is located in the village of Korvangla, about 12 kilometres northeast from Hassan city in Karnataka, India. ] It is about 35 kilometres southwest of Halebidu (Dorasamudra) – the primary capital of Hoysala kingdom in the 12th-century.
It is a twin temple with the two sanctums facing each other. The sanctum next to the larger mandapa opens to the east and is dedicated to Shiva, while the other near the two entrances is dedicated to Surya. Artworks of Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Shaktism and the Vedic deities are reverentially displayed, along with panels depicting scenes from the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the Bhagavata Purana. Also included are scenes of artha and kama (mithuna, amorous couples)
