Tourism in Kumarakom largely revolves -around the backwaters of the Vembanad Lake. Several luxury and budget resorts lined up on the shores of the lake provide tourists with facilities for boating, yachting and fishing, with panoramic views of the lake. The other major attraction is the Bird Sanctuary, which is open from 6 am to 6 pm and can be visited by canoes arranged by local fishermen at the entrance to the sanctuary. A two-hour rowing canoe trip is quite cheap, and is best undertaken in the evening or early morning to avoid the afternoon sun.
Furthermore, the Aruvikkuzhi Waterfall and its surrounding rubber plantation are a photographer's delight. There is also the Bay Island Drift Museum near the Kumarakom beach for history lovers, open from 10 am – 5 pm on Tuesdays – Saturdays and from 11.30 am – 5 pm on Sundays.

In this video, we have shown our visit to a wonderful island which is situated near Kochi. The island is known as Kumbalam.
There are so many ways to reach Kumbalam. Kumbalam is having one railway station but handful number of trains stop there. One more way to reach there by road. Kumbalam is well connected with Kochi by road.
The third, cheapest and the best option to reach there is the waterway. In Kochi, you need to reach Thevara Ferry point in Kochi. From there, we will get very frequent ferry service (run by Kerala Government) to Kumbalam North Ferry Point.
The ferry ride was wonderful. It was a great moment. Everyone should try this waterway to reach Kumbalam.
Once we are at Kumbalam, we hired an auto and had a road trip inside the island. Very beautiful island is it.
We also visited St.Antony's Pray For Us Church, Sree Subramanya Temple and AstroDome - Football & Cricket Turf over there.
Kumbalam is a must visit place, once you are in Kochi.
