This trip I am taking you to the Hakka town of Kulai, Johor,
Kulai is located 29 km (18 mi) from Johor Bahru city and 8 km (5.0 mi) from Skudai. It is located in the center of the district. Kulai town and other towns within this district are located along the old trunk road linking Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. The main road, Federal Route 1, is lined with many retail shops. There are also many housing estates within the township. The town is surrounded by rubber and oil palm estates.

Part of our Road Trip around Johor includes Kulai. About 30km from Johor Bahru City and just 8km away from Skudai.
Kulai (formerly known as Gui Lai) means the arrival of tortoise as it was once hit by flood resulting in plenty of tortoises move to the town from the river banks
Mainly populated by the Hakka community, there are many Hakka traditional delights.

Corsica Hotel is our favourite hotel to stay whenever we travel to Kulai. Located in Indahpura, it is strategically located near shopping malls, food places, and other premier landmarks. Walking distance to Aeon Mall Kulai, and a short drive away to IOI Mall, Johor Premium Outlets and Putuo Village.
Even though it is only a 3 star hotel, the premises is clean with a nice scent upon entering. Staff are friendly and helpful too!
Prices is affordable and we paid about RM610 for the Family Grand room for 2 nights stay.

古來的地名源自海南話「龜來」，說明它曾經是一個海南埠。古來有一家超過60年歷史的傳統海南咖啡店，不只堅持採用早年曾在本地大量栽種的賴比瑞卡咖啡，還提供各種義式咖啡。從海南長嘴咖啡壺到義式摩卡壺，海南人的靈活變通豐富了本土咖啡店的味覺選項。匿藏在小巷內的海南牛肉粉，沒掛上招牌，卻已營業近60年。

If you bored with KSL, Bukit Indah and City square mall, can consider go to Kulai as they have an extensive shopping malls as well.
Such as kulai center point, ioi mall kulai, aeon kulai, Mydin kulai etc..
It’s only around 1 hr bus ride or 40 minutes train ride (if you arrive at jb Sentral before 8.30am you can take train, alight at Kulai station).
Kulai also offers some attractions like Putuo Village, Street arts at Lorong Kita, Hutan Bandar Kulai, cafe hopping etc..

Bamboo Forest, Putuo Village, Kulai, Tourist Attraction in Johor
Bamboo Forest at Putuo Village is a tourist attraction for everyone with Japanese theme garden. There is an entrance fee of RM10 per pax for local Malaysian. The entrance fee collected goes towards the upkeep and upgrading of this bamboo forest. The walk inside is cooling and shady, and with lots of places for nice photos for Instagrammers. Suitable for young children as they can sit on swings and there's a playground too. There are toilets on the opposite side of the road before the entrance and it is free of charge.
For those interested to go to the Putuo Village Chinese temple, this Bamboo Forest is connected to the Chinese Temple through a long walk along the colorful flags tunnel, but it is too long for me. I went to go to the Chinese Temple by driving my car up along the outside main road and there are lots of car park spaces in front of the Chinese temple.

CAFE JUFEI 聚啡馆 : Hidden Gem in KULAI Johor Malaysia
This is the first Malaysian cafe I visited in 2022. After 2 years of not visiting Johor Bahru, finally on 28 May 2022 for the first time I was able to smell the air of Peninsular Malaysia.
Cafe Jufei is located in the Taman Kulai Johor Malaysia shop house. (location map: on the 3rd floor of the shophouse building. And this cafe is very unique because it has an interior decoration with a 70s concept. Like what is the interior decoration of this cafe, let's watch the video until it's over.
