Located on the island of Kotlin in the Gulf of Finland, the city throughout its history served as the sea shield of St. Petersburg and the capital of the Baltic Fleet of Russia. It was here that the world's first icebreaker was built. Kronstadt is simply fascinating. Subtle atmosphere of the port city, strict canal lines, the magnificent Naval Cathedral. It is one of the most beautiful historical districts of St. Petersburg, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

In mid-January, Peter finally fell asleep with snow, and we were able to show the most beautiful Northern city in the world, wrapped in snow, from the air, in ultra-high resolution 6K. For filming, we used a new Ambassador camera Zenmuse X7 together with a new line of lenses DL, which a month ago we sent DJI for our further creativity. Since youtube does not support 6K resolution, we have increased the image to 8K, in order to unlock the full potential of the image.

10 Tage in St. Petersburg - ein Reisevideo in 4K
Eigentlich wollten wir schon 2020 nach St. Petersburg fliegen.
Flüge und Hotel waren gebucht und bezahlt!
Dann kam dieser fiese kleine Virus und alles musste abgesagt werden.
Glücklicherweise konnten wir die Flüge verschieben und das Hotel war
auch bereit, unsere Buchung um 1 Jahr zu verlegen.
Also dann in 2021 los nach St. Petersburg, aber dann wurde Russland
zum Virus-Varianten-Gebiet und wieder alles unsicher.
Zu guter Letzt hat es dann doch geklappt und am 16.8.21 bestiegen wir dann
geimpft und PCR-getestet den Flieger.
Abschliessend kann man sagen, dass die russische Bevölkerung sich genauso
gut oder schlecht an die Maskenpflicht hält, wie die Leute hier in Deutschland.
So gut wie keine ausländischen Touristen machten uns das Leben einfacher,
kein Gedränge, keine Schlangen und freundliche Menschen.
Wir waren z. B. im Eremitage-Museum die erste deutsche Gruppe in diesem Jahr!
Mit Victoria hatten wir eine phantastische Reiseführerin, die mit ihrem Detailwissen und ihrem
freundlichen Wesen unseren Aufenthalt unvergesslich machten!
Die Bilder können nur einen kleinen Eindruck verschaffen, es war äusserst
beeindruckend und alle Teilnehmer waren begeistert von dieser unglaublichen
Stadt.

The Convent of St. John of Rila (Иоанновский монастырь) is the largest convent in St. Petersburg, Russia and the only stauropegic monastery in the region.
It was established on the bank of the Karpovka River by Saint John of Kronstadt (1900) as a branch of the Sura Monastery of St. John the Theologian. The main pentacupolar church of the Twelve Apostles (1902) was built to a Neo-Byzantine design by Nikolay Nikonov. The ground floor contains the marble tomb of St. John of Kronstadt.
The convent was disbanded by the Soviets in 1923. It was reopened as a branch of Pühtitsa Convent in 1991.

The Forts of Kronshtadt, St. Petersburg
The Kronshtadt fortress is a complex of forts of different centuries located on artificial islands. There are no similar naval constructions in the world built in such adverse climatic conditions. The forts fulfilled their mission in early XVIII century during the attack of Swedish landing troops, and in 1854-1855 when they scared away the joined English-French fleet who tried to attack the city.
