Kotli is a city in Kotli District of Azad Kashmir, in Pakistan. It lies on the Poonch River, and the river contains several notable waterfalls including the Iala Waterfall near the town of Kotli and the Gulpur Waterfalls at the village of Gulpur to the southwest. The Kotli District (Urdu: ضلع کوٹلی) is one of the 10 districts of Pakistan's dependent territory of Azad Kashmir. It is bounded on the north by the Sudhanoti District and the Poonch District, on the north-east by the Poonch District of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, on the south by the Mirpur District and the Bhimber District, and on the west by the Rawalpindi District on Pakistan's Punjab Province. It is the biggest district of Azad Kashmir by population and the second biggest by land area, after the Neelum District. The district headquarters is the city of Kotli. Other prominent towns are Khuiratta, Nakyal, Sehnsa, and Tatta Pani.
Education
According to the Pakistan District Education Ranking 2017, a report by Alif Ailaan, the Kotli District stands at number 7 nationally relating to education, with a score of 73.68. The learning score stands at 85.67 and gender parity is at 93.45.
According to the same report, the Kotli District is ranked at 119 nationally, with a learning score of 35.47 and a retention score of 35.36.The learning score is low because of a lack of quality teachers and proper teacher training. The retention score is low because of the low number of beyond-primary schools.
With regard to infrastructure, the Kotli District stands at 154, with a score of 14.14, which is the second lowest in Pakistan and its two dependent territories.That score shows that there is a serious problem with the lack of basic facilities such as electricity, functional toilets, furniture, and boundary walls.

Top 10 Things To Do In Azad Kashmir, Pakistan | Azad Kashmir Tourist Attractions: Top best places to visit in Kashmir:
1. Rawalakot - Rawlakot is a Mountainous area comprised of 3 towns, spanning an area of 1010 square kilometres. It is at a distance of 76 kilometres from Kohalla, which is a place near capital of Azad Kashmir. In the summer, the area is covered in lush grass and lovely flowers, including numerous varieties of roses. The town has markets and bazaars where you may find all the essential goods.
2. Jhelum Valley - This is an ideal valley, both for local, and international tourists. A 50 km long valley located along the Jhelum River within lush green mountains, it is located in the Hattian Bala District of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan, which is 40km from Muzaffarabad. The standout qualities of this location, are it's healthy climate and gorgeous surroundings. The sub-valleys are intriguing to look at from atop the hill. Just 3 kilometres from Chikar Bazar, the AJK Tourism Department has built a tourist motel. There are few good-standard private hotels available.
3. Neelum Valley - Neelum valley is one of the most beautiful places within Azad Kashmir and it’s named after the river which has curves like snake.
It is also known as the PARASIDE OF KASHMIR. Neelum valley is located North East of Muzaffarabad, and runs parallel to the Kaghan Valley.
About 370 large and small villages make up the area. It generally consists of mountains and hills with wide valleys. The valley features rivers, streams, and dense forest. This valley is covered in the most breathtaking splendor. You can approach the valley from two distinct directions. One is from Noori Top.
4. Red Fort Kashmir - Red Fort, also known as Muzaffarabad Fort, is a fortification that was built in 1646, located in Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan.
5. Ratti Gali Lake - The lake is located 3,683 meters above sea level. Ratti Gali Lake is one of the many beautiful lakes in Neelum Valley,
The nearby glacier waters of the mountains are what fill the lake. This lake has calm, crystal-clear waters, and the wilderness of one of the most beautiful mountainous areas in the world surrounds it. Locals commonly refer to this lake as the Jewel of Neelum Valley, which complements its stunning beauty.
6. Shounter Lake - another beutiful glacial lake, At an altitude of 3,100 meters, Shounter Lake is a picturesque lake situated in a valley. A trail that is accessible via jeep, leads to the lake from Kel town in Neelum Valley. It is also possible to spend some time camping in the area.
7. Leepa Valley - Leepa Valley is located 45 kilometres away from Muzaffarabad. From May to November, the valley remains open to visitors.
During the summer, people travel from all over the nation to this valley to enjoy the beautiful weather. The most well-known settlements in the
picturesque Leepa Valley are Leepa, Reshian, Chananian, and Dao Khan.
8. Pir Chinasi - The elevation of Pir Chinasi is 2900 metres above sea level. You can go from Muzafarabad to Pir Chinasi in around 90 minutes via a tour guide. The final stretch of the road is particularly steep. This mountain's summit offers breath-taking views. The mountain peak has gained large fame for its ziyarat of a famous Saint Pir Chinasi Known as Pir Sayed Hussain shah Bukhari. This is a sacred practice for many locals, as well as tourists. Some consider it as the
primary reason for the regular visits to Pir Chinasi.
9. Toli Peer - Toli Peer is a hilltop region found in the Tehsil Rawalakot of Azad Kashmir's Poonch District. Its altitude is almost 2700 metres above sea level. At roughly a 30km distance, it takes a 2 hour minute drive from Rawalakot in Azad Kashmir to reach Toli Peer. among the lush green meadows and the heaven-like view, there are many hotels and resorts available to better service the guests. In addition, you can also take in the view of the Bagh and Poonch River from the top of Toli Peer.
10. Banjosa Lake - banjosa Lake is an artificial lake and a tourist resort 18 kilometres from the city of Rawalakot. Surrounded by mountains, It is a famous picnic spot for families and romantic getaways. There are several restaurants here, one can find a wide variety of food to chose from. If you would like to spend the night, motels and rest stops are also accessible. It's also an excellent option for someone who wants to stroll around the nearby woods.
