Seven sites in Ukraine — including churches, old-growth forests and a historic city centre — are on the list. Another three elements of Ukrainian culture have been added to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This publication, produced jointly by Ukrainer and the Ukrainian Institute, marks the 75th anniversary of UNESCO.

The district centre of Kosiv is situated in the southern part of the Ukrainian Pre-Carpathian region, on the banks of the Rybnytsya River in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast of Ukraine. The town is surrounded on three sides by the picturesque foothills of the Carpathian Mountains.

▶ We will visit the town to stroll through one of the ten largest bazaars in Ukraine - the Kosiv souvenir market. The market is the landmark of the town and a centre of Hutsul arts and crafts. Colorful stalls of the bazaar are filled with beautifully embroidered shirts, towels, and handmade wool, wood and ceramic articles. A stroll through the souvenir market is a good opportunity to learn about the local culture, history and Hutsul crafts.

Ко́сов (укр. Ко́сів, польск. Kosów) — город, районный центр Ивано-Франковской области, административно-торговый центр галицкой Гуцульщины.
Лежит у самого подножия Карпат, в долине реки Рыбницы, притока Прута.
В 1424 году Великий князь литовский Свидригайло подарил село Косово «верному слуге» Максиму Владу Драгосиновичу.
Город возник во второй половине XVI века при польско-литовской власти благодаря ценным залежам соли. К этому времени за четверть мили от деревни Косов (теперь Старый Косов) существовала соляная баня, в которой из добытого сырья вываривали соль.
Добыча и производство соли требовали большого количества рабочих и ремесленников. Прекрасный климат привлекал сюда поселенцев, благодаря чему хорошо развилось садоводство.
В Косове вместе с его окраинами насчитывалось около 50 % украинцев, 35 % — евреев и 15 % — поляков. Многие из них быстро богатели. Это, конечно, привлекало внимание опришков. Они часто нападали на город, в частности под руководством Василия Лунги (1698), Пинты и Пискливого (1704), Баюрака (1750). Примерно в 1740 году к шляхетскому двору в Косове подошёл Олекса Довбуш и «посылал ружья в усадьбу», но не нападал. В 1759 году в связи с активизацией опришковского движения организована главная стоянка карательного войска против повстанцев, которое возглавил Тадеуш Дидушицкий, тогдашний владелец Косова, галицкий хорунжий.
В австрийские времена жизнь стала более спокойной. Согласно патентам от 1773, 1778 и 1786 годов, направленным на огосударствливание соли, косовские соляные имения, то есть целый городок с близлежащими сёлами, перешли из частной собственности в государственную. Административно он несколько лет относился к Червонорускому округу («циркулу»), затем — к Станиславовскому и, наконец, Коломыйскому. С внедрением 1867 году нового уклада Косову предоставили статус уездного города.
июне 1914 года создан первый отдел стрелецтва «Киш Сечевых стрельцов». В начале мировой войны уездная управа УСС набирала добровольцев для борьбы на стороне Австрии. С осени 1914 года до начала лета 1915 года и с лета 1916 года до лета 1917 года Косов дважды занимала русская армия. После распада Австро-Венгрии (ноября 1918 г.) установлена Западно-Украинская Народная Республика, просуществовавшая до мая 1919 года. С 26 мая до конца августа город был занят румынскими войсками. Впоследствии вместе со многими другими землями Западной Украины вошла в состав Польши и стал центром Косовского уезда Станиславивского воеводства.
При польской власти продолжали развиваться художественные промыслы. Особенно увеличился приток летников и курортников, годовая посещаемость которых составляла около 3000 человек, а обслуживала их широкая сеть пансионатов. Расцвет соляной промышленности кончился, а в 1938 года солеварни окончательно остановлены.
22 сентября 1939 года в Косове была установлена советская власть. Под лозунгом помощи угнетённым «братьям-украинцам» были национализированы пансионаты, ковроткацкие предприятия, мельницы, магазины и другие хозяйства, контролируемые преимущественно поляками и евреями. Начала работать средняя школа с украинским языком обучения. На базе ткацкой создали многопрофильную промышленную школу гуцульского искусства.

The Carpathian Mountains are the second largest mountain range in Europe that stretch across 7 countries, one of them being Ukraine! My diverse tour with Cobblestone Freeway allowed me to breathe in the fresh air of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains and enjoy natural beauty, traditional villages, and experience a lifestyle that has remained unchanged for centuries. Had a pretty amazing time bike riding through much of Ukraine's Carpathian mountains this past summer.

I actually went on two separate rides, the first was with my friend David who is from the country Georgia. It was great riding with him on his first bike tour, especially because he speaks Russian which allowed us to communicate better with some of the Ukrainian folks who did not understand my english or my Czech. But even if I could not always communicate, it was an AWESOME trip. I would very highly recommend bike riding through the carpathian mountains to anybody.
We rode from the border crossing in north western Romania over the river and then went to Jasna, and up around Vrhotka and then down towards Chernicvi. I am for sure not spelling the names of the towns properly, but you can find your way though the mountains on several different routes. We ended up in Odessa for a week of partying and soaking up the sun in Mid August. Had our fair share of good food and relax there after about a month of cruising.
We started the trip in Kosice, Slovakia, then went through North EASTERN Hungary, where they speak almost zero english. Then had 4 days in Romania. I LOVED ROMANIA!!!!!!!
Breb, Romania is a must visit if you are in North West romania. Breb is a traditional village and lots of good stuff there for tourists.
Actually, I wish we stayed in Breb longer, it would have for sure been great.
On the second bike trip, I was by Myself and I rode from Ostrava, Czech Republic north to poland.
First day I rode to Rybnik, Poland.
After that I rode from Rybnik to Bielsko Bialla, Poland
After that from Bielsko to Sucha Bezkidska, Poland
After that from Sucha Bezkidska to Nowy Sacz (was 121 km that day...)
After that from Nowy Sacz to Foulaz, Poland
After that from Foulaz, to Sanok, Poland
After that from Sanok to Przemysl, Poland
After that I crossed the border into Ukraine..so it was
Przemysl to Lviv, Ukraine (over 100 km that day...but very flat and border crossing into Ukraine was uneventful.)
After that(spent a week in Lviv...was great and I would highly recommend anybody to check out that city if you are on bike)

Carpathian mountains are rich with beautiful nature, and hutsul culture is rich with arts and crafts. Hutsuls, inhabitants of the mountains, are wonderful craftsmen, who pass old traditions from generation to generation and keep them alive.
As we travel through the villages of Bukovets, Yavoriv and Kosiv, we discover some oldest crafts - music instruments making from Mykhailo Tafijchuk, lizhnyky(sheepwool blankets) making from Svitlana Pavlyuk and woodcarving from Mykola Strynadyuk.

После Черновцов едем в Ивано-Франковскую область в потрясающий город Коломыя.
Доехали на BlaBlaCar и поселились в City Hostel в самом центре. Первым делом пошли в главный музей города Pysanka Museum. А потом на автовокзале купили билет в Nyzhniy Verbizh, чтобы посмотреть на The Church of the Nativity of B.V.M из списка ЮНЕСКО.
Потом гуляли в городе, покупали местную еду и ходили на озера и речку Прут.
