4K CABVIEW: Return trip from Kongsvinger (VY L14)

I am still celebrating 1000 subscribers and want to show my appreciation with another video. This is a return trip from Kongsvinger to Lillestrøm.

After Blaker you can spot some activity on the Urskog-Høland Railway.
It is a narrow-gauge museum railway and went from Sørumsand, just outside of Oslo, to Skullerud station and transported passengers and goods up until july 1.st, 1960.
In local parlance, it was called “Tertitten”, which played on the fact that the line was a so-called tertiary line (tertiærbane) and the local dialect word for the bird great titmouse “Tertitt”

Urskog-Hølandsbanen is Norway’s oldest railway museum and the only railway in Norway with three working coal-fired steam locomotives. They aslo have a range of carriages preserved wich they use in the running of the museum.

If you ever find yourself in the area, make sure to visit this place! :)

00:00 Introduction - Gardermoen Oslo International Airport
03:24 Radisson Blu Hotel & Conference Center, Oslo Alna
04:40 Oslo City Center
04:51 Oslo Central Station
06:32 Kongsvinger

Oslo Airport (Norwegian: Oslo lufthavn; IATA: OSL, ICAO: ENGM), alternatively referred to as Oslo Gardermoen Airport or simply Gardermoen Airport, is the international airport serving Oslo, Norway, the capital and most populous city in the country. A hub for Flyr, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Scandinavian Airlines, Widerøe and Wizz Air, it connects to 26 domestic and 158 international destinations.[3]

The airport is located 19 nautical miles (35 km; 22 mi) northeast of Oslo, at Gardermoen at the border of municipalities Nannestad and Ullensaker, in Viken county.[4] It has two parallel roughly north–south runways measuring 3,600 metres (11,811 ft) and 2,950 metres (9,678 ft) and 71 aircraft stands, of which 50 have jet bridges. The airport is connected to the city center by the high-speed railway Gardermoen Line served by mainline trains and Flytoget. The percentage of passengers using public transport to get to and from the airport is one of the highest in the world at nearly 70%.[5] The ground facilities are owned by Oslo Lufthavn AS, a subsidiary of the state-owned Avinor. Also at the premises is Gardermoen Air Station, operated by the Royal Norwegian Air Force. An expansion with a new terminal building and a third pier opened in late April 2017.[6]

The airport location was first used by the Norwegian Army from 1940, with the first military airport facilities being built during the 1940s. The airport remained a secondary reserve and airport for chartered flights to Oslo Airport, Fornebu, until 8 October 1998, when the latter was closed and an all-new Oslo Airport opened at Gardermoen, costing 11.4 billion Norwegian kroner (NOK).

Oslo is additionally served by the much smaller Sandefjord Airport, Torp, in Sandefjord, which situated 119 km (74 mi) to the south of downtown Oslo and primarily used by leisure and low-cost carriers.

Oslo (/ˈɒzloʊ/ OZ-loh, US also /ˈɒsloʊ/ OSS-loh,[10][11] Norwegian: [ˈʊ̂ʂlʊ] (audio speaker iconlisten) or [ˈʊ̂slʊ, ˈʊ̀ʂlʊ]) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. As of 30 September 2021, the municipality of Oslo had a population of 698,660, while the population of the city's greater urban area was 1,019,513, as of 4 November 2019.[12][13] The metropolitan area had an estimated population of 1.71 million.[14]

During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Oslo was founded as a city at the end of the Viking Age in the year 1040 under the name Ánslo, and established as a kaupstad or trading place in 1048 by Harald Hardrada. The city was elevated to a bishopric in 1070 and a capital under Haakon V of Norway around 1300. Personal unions with Denmark from 1397 to 1523 and again from 1536 to 1814 reduced its influence. After being destroyed by a fire in 1624, during the reign of King Christian IV, a new city was built closer to Akershus Fortress and named Christiania in honour of the king. It became a municipality (formannskapsdistrikt) on 1 January 1838. The city functioned as the capital of Norway during the 1814–1905 union between Sweden and Norway. From 1877, the city's name was spelled Kristiania in government usage, a spelling that was adopted by the municipal authorities in 1897. In 1925, the city, after incorporating the village retaining its former name, was renamed Oslo. In 1948 Oslo merged with Aker, a municipality which surrounded the capital and which was 27 times larger, thus creating the modern, much larger Oslo municipality.

Oslo is the economic and governmental centre of Norway. The city is also a hub of Norwegian trade, banking, industry and shipping. It is an important centre for maritime industries and maritime trade in Europe. The city is home to many companies within the maritime sector, some of which are among the world's largest shipping companies, shipbrokers and maritime insurance brokers. Oslo is a pilot city of the Council of Europe and the European Commission intercultural cities programme.

Oslo is considered a global city and was ranked Beta World City in studies carried out by the Globalization and World Cities Study Group and Network in 2008.[15] It was ranked number one in terms of quality of life among European large cities in the European Cities of the Future 2012 report by fDi magazine.[16] A survey conducted by ECA International in 2011 placed Oslo as the second most expensive city in the world for living expenses after Tokyo.[17] In 2013 Oslo tied with the Australian city of Melbourne as the fourth most expensive city in the world, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU)'s Worldwide Cost of Living study.[18] Oslo was ranked as the 24th most liveable city in the world by Monocle magazine.[19]

4K CABVIEW: Summertime local service to Kongsvinger (VY L14)

I have finally reached 1000 subscribers!!! This milestone means a lot to me and I will surely celebrate with something good to drink and eat tonight, together with my new video and you!

It is summer! And for me, that means vacation. So it has been quiet on editing and filming. But this is me trying to get some more videos out. Hopefully more frequent from now on!
For the train though, it means bug season. I tried to keep the windscreen clean but some got in the way anyways. The window washer fluid does not remove the insects, but only smears them out, which only makes the situation worse. Sadly, I do not have time to clean between stops, so please just bear with me.

Todays journey starts in Lillestrøm (guess you all seen Oslo by now) and ends up in Kongsvinger. The line we are travelling on is named Kongsvingerbanen and was opened 1862.
Just after Sørumsand station you can see an old narrow tracked railroad track named Aurskog-Hølandbanen. It was opened in 1896 and closed in 1960.
It is possible to travel on this track with an old steam locomotive in the summer season.
I have a return video from this trip that I will upload soon, where you can catch a glimse of the steam locomotive and some more trains and equipment used on this line.

As we travel from Fetsund we make our way north-east along side with the river Glomma, the longest river in Norway, reaching almost 620 km. Together with other connected rivers the watercourse makes 13% of Norway's total area.

Hope you enjoy this upload and hit that subscriber button.
Stay tuned for more videos.

Nesoddtangen Fjords Norway

#oslofjord #oslo #norway #oslofjorden
Nesoddtangen is a village and the administrative centre of the municipality of Nesodden in Akershus, Norway.

Nesoddtangen is located on the tip of the peninsula between the inner Oslofjord (Indre Oslofjord) and its arm Bunnefjorden. It is situated 4 miles (7 kilometers) southwest of Oslo. It had 13,150 residents in 2021; about two thirds of the municipality's population. Of the working population in Nesoddtangen, more than 90% work in Oslo. Passenger ferries are the most used commuting transportation.

The name Nesoddtangen is a triple tautology, consisting of three parts, nes, odd and tangen, all being synonyms signifying a small cape or promontory.

NORWAY TRAVEL VLOG - STAVANGER TO OSLO (2021)

Here is the beginning of our trip to Greece. We had to drive by car to Oslo from Stavanger. Hubby is not fully vaccinated so he had to take the antigen rapid test at Sola Airport. The test costs 1250 NOK and got the result after 15 mins. We took the road 45 and 143 to Oslo. We had a little bit sight-seeing that day.
