The Most #Diamond ???? Producing District | Road Trip to Kono District | Koidu Town, Sierra Leone
Kono District is positioned in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone. Koidu Town is the capital and largest city, also known as Sefadu and is Sierra Leone's fourth-largest city in Sierra Leone. The population of Kono District is 505,767 as of the (2015) censor.
Kono is the largest diamond producer in Sierra Leone and has produced about nine million carats of diamonds over the years, including some of the world's biggest diamonds.
Koidu Town is the diamond trading centre. The town borders Guinea in the east and is adjacent to the Liberian border.
Motema is the second-most populated city in the Kono district. The other principal towns in the district include Yengema, Tombodu, Jaiama Nimikor and Sewafe.

Tamba Gborie visits Chief Konomani in Koidu Township - 1997
In 1997, Tamba A. Gborie visited Chief Konomani in Koidu Township. This video is a clip from an interview the two men conducted. Tamba Gborie sent to Koidu town in 1997 to manage the diamond mining activities in the area. Pt1
Tamba Gborie was a member of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC). Chief Konomani is a well respected Chief of the Kono community in Sierra Leone.
Tamba Gborie was executed on October 19, 1998 just a month after his 33nd birthday alone with 23 other people for mutiny.
