Velankanni Trip | Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health |
The Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health is located at the small town of Velankanni in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. The Roman Catholic Latin Rite Basilica is devoted to Our Lady of Good Health. Devotion to Our Lady of Good Health of Velankanni can be traced to the mid-16th century and is attributed to three miracles at sites around where the Basilica stands: the apparition of Mary and the Christ Child to a slumbering shepherd boy, the curing of a lame buttermilk vendor, and the rescue of Portuguese sailors from a violent sea storm. These accounts are based on oral tradition and there are no written or attested records in support of them. The Holy See has not approved these apparitions.
The chapel was finally built by Portuguese sailors. More than 500 years later, the nine-day festival and celebration is still observed and draws nearly 2 million pilgrims each year. The Shrine of Our Lady of Vailankanni, also known as the Lourdes of the East, is one of the most-frequented religious sites in India.

Velankanni (V ka i), is a Special Grade Panchayat Town in Nagapattinam district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It lies on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, 350 km south of Chennai (Madras) and 12 km south of Nagapattinam.
Once a port that traded with Rome and Greece, the tiny commercial center gradually lost its importance to the larger city of Nagapattinam. The canal built to link this town with Vedaranyam still lies to the west. The Vellayar, a minor branch of the Cauvery River, runs south of the town and discharges into the sea. The town was among the worst hit by the tsunami caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.
The town is home to one of the most visited Roman Catholic Latin Rite shrines called the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health.
Velankanni has been chosen as one of the heritage cities for HRIDAY - Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana scheme of the Government of India.

Kilvelur Kediliappar Temple is a Hindu temple located at Kilvelur in Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu, India.The historical name of the place is Thirukizhvelur. The temple is dedicated to Shiva, as the moolavar presiding deity, in his manifestation as Kediliappar. His consort, Parvati, is known as Vanamulai Amman.
It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Tevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanars Tirugnanasambandar and Tirunavukkarasar.

திருச்சி மாவட்டம் வெள்ளூர் அருகே முசிறியில் இருந்து 7 கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவில் அமைந்துள்ள திருக்காமேஸ்வரர் திருக்கோவில்.
இந்தக் கோவிலில் இருக்கும் மூலவரான திருக்காமேஸ்வரர் ஐ மகாலட்சுமி பிரதிஷ்டை செய்யப்பட்டு பூஜிக்கப்பட்டது.
பாற்கடல் கடையும் பொழுது சிவபெருமானை நோக்கி பெருமாள் மோகினி அவதாரம் எடுத்து ஐயப்பன் அவதரித்தார். இதை அறிந்த மஹாலக்ஷ்மி தேவி பெருமாளிடம் கோபித்துக்கொண்டு வைகுண்டத்தை விட்டு வெளியேறி வெள்ளூரில் இருக்கும் இந்த கோவிலில் வில்வ மரமாக மாறி தனக்கு நியாயம் கேட்டு சிவபெருமானை நோக்கி பூஜித்தாள்.சிவபெருமான் மகாலட்சுமியின் முன்பு தோன்றி மோகினி அவதாரத்தின் சிறப்பை எடுத்துக் கூறி திருமாலையும் மகாலட்சுமியும் சேர்த்துவைத்து மகாலட்சுமிக்கு ஸ்ரீவத்ஸ முத்திரை பதித்த கிரீடம் கொடுத்து ஐஸ்வர்ய மகாலட்சுமி என்கின்ற பட்டத்தை வழங்கினார்.
போகர் தனது 7000 என்கின்ற நூலில் கோவிலில் சிவபோக ஸ்ரீசக்கரம் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்து பூஜித்த பின்பே பழனியில் நவபாஷான ஸ்ரீ தண்டாயுதபாணி பிரதிஷ்டை செய்ததாக குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.இழந்த தன் கணவன் மன்மதன் ரதி தேவி மீட்டெடுத்த கோவில் இதுவே.
நகை வியாபாரம் செய்யும் செய்வோம் இக்கோவிலுக்கு சென்று பூஜை செய்து வர ஐஸ்வர்யம் பெருகும் என்றும் மாணவர்கள் படிப்பில் மேலோங்கி சிறக்க இக்கோவிலில் இருக்கும்.
