पंचकूला शहर हरे भरे वातावरण के लिए जाना जाता है, पंचकूला शहर हरियाणा राज्य में स्थित है, जो राज्य का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण जिला है। पंचकूला शहर अपनी राजधानी चंडीगढ़ से मात्र 10 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। यहां पर हर वर्ष हजारों की संख्या में पर्यटक घूमने के लिए आते हैं। यहां पर आने वाले पर्यटक देश ही नहीं बल्कि विदेशों से भी आते हैं बता दें कि घने और विशाल जंगल तथा पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों के लिए यह शहर जाना जाता है। इसके अलावा पंचकूला अपनी पांच नहरों के लिए भी जाना जाता है, जो राज्य के लिए जलापूर्ति का काम करती हैं। इसके पूर्व और उत्तर में हिमाचल प्रदेश है जबकि पश्चिम में पंजाब और दक्षिण में चंडीगढ़ है। पंचकूला शहर में अत्यंत प्राचीन धार्मिक स्थल तथा प्राचीन स्मारक बने हुए हैं जो भारत के अतीत तथा प्राचीन काल के ऐतिहासिक महत्व को दर्शाते हैं।

आज हम बात करेंगे झुंझुनू जिले में स्थित खेतड़ी नगर के बारे में।खेतड़ी नगर शेखावाटी क्षेत्र के झुंझुनू जिले में खेतड़ी से 10 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है ।इसे तांबा परियोजना के रूप में जाना जाता है ।खेतड़ी नगर का निर्माण भारत सरकार के सार्वजनिक उपक्रम हिंदुस्तान कॉपर लिमिटेड ने किया।
एक समय था जब इस कारखाने में लगभग दस हजार कर्मचारी काम करते थे और इन कर्मचारियों के परिवार के सदस्यों को मिलाकर कुल 30 -40लोग इस नगर में रहते थे। लेकिन आज इक्का-दुक्का क्वार्टरों को छोड़कर बाकी के सारे आवास खाली पड़े हैं और काफी जर्जर भी हो चुके हैं।
इसका मुख्य कारण है अधिकांश कर्मचारियों ने वीआरएस ले लिया अनेक रिटायर हो गए और नई भर्ती भी नहीं की गई।
खेतड़ी नगर की सड़कों पर पहले वाहनों की रेलम पेल रहती थी, लेकिन आज इस नगर की सड़कें ,पार्क और यहां के बाजारों में सन्नाटा पसरा पड़ा है ,जो इस शहर की बदहाली की गवाही दे रहा है।

राजा अजीत सिंह का जन्म 16 अक्टूबर 1861 को राजस्थान के झुंझुनू जिले में स्थित अलसीसर नामक स्थान पर हुआ था । उनके पिता का नाम ठाकुर चतुरसिंह था । जब खेतड़ी के तत्कालीन राजा फतेह सिंह का देहांत हुआ तो अजीत सिंह 1870 में खेतड़ी के राजा बने , उन्हें गोद लिया गया था।
खेतड़ी प्रवास के दौरान स्वामी जी राजा अजीत सिंह जी से आध्यात्मिक पर चर्चा करते थे। उन्होंने अजीत सिंह को उदार और विशाल बनाने के लिए आधुनिक विज्ञान के महत्व को समझाया।
अमेरिका जाने से पूर्व अजीत सिंह के निमंत्रण पर 21 अप्रैल 1893 को स्वामी जी दूसरी बार खेजड़ी आए । उन्होंने 10 मई 1893 तक खेतड़ी में प्रवास किया।
राजा अजीत सिंह और स्वामी जी के अटूट संबंधों की अनेक कथाएं आज भी खेतड़ी के लोगों की जुबान पर सहज ही सुनने को मिल जाती है।
स्वामी जी का जन्म 12 जनवरी 1863 में व मृत्यु 4 जुलाई 1910 को हुई थी । इसी तरह राजा अजीत सिंह जी का जन्म 10 अक्टूबर 1861 में व मृत्यु 18 जनवरी 1960 को हुई थी ।दोनों का निधन 39 वर्ष की उम्र में हो गया था। वह दोनों के जन्म व मृत्यु के समय में भी ज्यादा अंतर नहीं था। इसे महज संयोग नहीं कहा जा सकता।

Khetri Mahal also known as the Wind Palace, is a classic example of palace architecture in the Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. About 200 km south-west of Delhi, in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan, is the town of Khetri. Dominated by the sprawling, relatively unknown, fortress of Bhopalgarh, this small Rajasthani town has had a far greater impact on Indian history.
Khetri Mahal is located behind a series of lanes. It is a paragon of Shekhawati art and architecture. It is primarily known for its fine paintings and murals mainly supporting the Raghunath temple Bhopalgarh fort.
Shekhawati is an arid region famous for the painted havelis of Marwari merchants. Although normally under the control of the Maharajas of Jaipur, it was essentially ruled by semi-independent Rajas and Thakurs, who lorded over fiefdoms known as ‘Thikanas’. The most prominent among these was Khetri, which was ruled by the Shekhawat clan.
It was Raja Bhopal Singh (1735-1771 CE) who built the fortress at Khetri in 1754 CE and named it ‘Bhopalgarh’ after himself. However, it was his descendant, Raja Ajit Singh (1861-1901 CE), who would leave a mark in the histrory. In the 1890s, Raja Ajit Singh became a great patron of an emerging Indian monk and scholar Swami Vivekananda’. Raja Ajit Singh also sponsored Swami Vivekananda’s trip to Chicago in September 1893, for the Parliament of World Religions.
A very close friend of Raja Ajit Singh and legal advisor to the Khetri state was none other than Motilal Nehru, the father of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The Nehru family had an intimate connection with Khetri. Motilal Nehru’s elder brother, Pandit Nandlal Nehru, had served as the ‘Dewan’ of Khetri in the 1870.
The Bhopalgarh fortress towers above the skyline as you approach Khetri and it is difficult not to be impressed by its looming presence.

Khetri fort was built in 1754 by the then Shekhawat raja, Bhopal Singh (Raja Shri Bhopal Singh Shekhawat Ji Saheb Bahadur)
Khetri Nagar is a town in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan in India. It is part of the Shekhawati region. Khetri is actually two towns, Khetri Town founded by Raja Khet Singhji Nirwan and Khetri Nagar which is about 10 km away from Khetri. Khetri Nagar, well known for its Copper Project, was built by and is under the control of Hindustan Copper Limited, a public sector undertaking under the Government of India. Khetri Nagar is also very well known with name of 'Copper'.
