Car drive from Budapest To Solymár Faces
Solymár (German: Schaumar) is an urban village in northwest of Budapest metropolitan area, bordering the 3rd and 2nd districts of the city, as well as Nagykovácsi, Pilisszentiván, Pilisvörösvár, Csobánka, Pilisborosjenő, and Üröm. Its picturesque surroundings (hills to the south and east, the highest point is Zsíroshegy at 424m) and good accessibility the 64, 64A, 164, 264, 157 and 964 city buses from Hűvösvölgy, 218 from Óbuda, a train from Budapest Nyugati, and coaches from Árpád-híd) made it a desirable destination for affluent city-dwellers moving to suburban homes outside of Budapest from the mid-1990s.
The name of the village is first mentioned in a charter by Béla IV dated 5 May 1266, as Solomar. The most likely etymology of the name is Hungarian solymár (more commonly solymász): ‘falconer’, i.e., the place where the royal falconers live. (Several neighbouring villages were named similarly.) The village prospered during the following centuries and probably hosted a royal hunting castle (Szarkavár), which burnt down after 1561. The advance of the Ottoman Empire left the village deserted after 1580.

The village was uninhabited until the first new settlers arrived around 1700; first Serbians and Bulgarians migrated from the south, to escape the withdrawing Ottoman forces. Soon afterward came German immigrants, recruited by the monarchy from Bavaria and similar southern provinces along the Danube. The Crown paid their transportation and assisted in their getting settled in Hungary; the newcomers were promised they could retain their language and religion (generally Roman Catholic). The monarchy wanted to resettle the area and knew the Germans could restore farmlands along the Danube. Because the settlers continued to speak a form of German and maintained their cultural and religious traditions, they were called die Donauschwaben (Danube Swabians). Their descendants, who were citizens of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and succeeding governments, later formed the great majority of the population in this area and called the village Schaumar in German.

During World War II, Adolf Hitler appealed to ethnic Germans in other countries, no matter how long they had resided there. In some areas, ethnic Germans supported his program, but in many cases had loyalty to where they were living. Because part of the Nazi rationale for war was to unite all ethnic Germans and oppress and exterminate other populations, many eastern European countries, such as Hungary, Poland and the Soviet Union, expelled ethnic Germans after the war. About half the population of Solymár was deported to Germany in 1946 as a collective punishment as part of that massive displacement. More than 330 households in Solymár were vacated.
The empty houses were occupied by ethnic Hungarians relocated from other parts of the country (mainly Mezőkövesd), as well as refugees from Transylvania. In later years, ethnic Hungarians deported from Czechoslovakia arrived. Together with the large-scale migration of people from Budapest in the past decades of suburbanization, ethnic Germans have become a minority of the population. Since 1990 the deportation has been commemorated; a memorial was installed at Templom tér.

Utopija VLOG - Budimpešta 2024.
Evo malo utisaka sa četvorodnevne posete Budimpešti.
U januaru 2024. sa porodicom sam otišao na citi brejk. Poslovno sam obilazio Peštu ali ne i ovako. Sada se ukazala prilika da je i turistički istražimo. Koliko se može za tri, četiri dana.
Smešteni smo bili u UP hotelu. Savršena lokacija. Pored smeštaja odlučili smo se da platimo i parking u hotelu što nas je stajalo 25 evra po danu. Garaža je u podrumu hotela tako da je, i ako skuplja varijanta, svakako praktičnija varijanta nego da smo jurili jeftiniji parking pa išli prevozom... Kola nismo kroistili tokom boravka u Budimpešti. Hotel je na minut od muzeja Terora u Andraši ulici. Odatle, za maksimum 40.minuta smo mogli da stignemo do svake lokacije koju smo nameravali da posetimo.
Inače, hotel je za preporuku. Odličan doručak, sve je čisto i uredno. Kao što rekoh lokacija fantastična. Tražili smo sobu koja gleda u dvorište hotela tako da je bilo bez ulične buke, a i prozori su novi i odlična je izolacija... Bukirali smo ga preko Bukinga.
Bilo je hladno ali bez padavina tako da su šal, kapa i rukavice bili obavezna i savršena kombinacija tokom pešačenja.
Što se obilazaka tiče, usredsredili smo se na glavna obeležja grada što možete videti u videu. Ulazak na sve lokacije, unutar objekata se plaća i cena ide od 20 do 40 evra po osobi. Preporuka je da se pre dolaska u grad odlučite gde ćete ući i da to završite onlajn da bi izbegli gužvu... Naša neorganizovanost nas je usmerila na pogrešno mesto jer smo čuli da u gradu ima jedna od najlepših biblioteka u gradu i nekako smo završili u biblioteci Mađarskog parlamenta umesto u biblioteci Budimskog zamka. A kada smo hteli da ispravimo grešku uvideli smo da biblioteka ne radi vikendom... To će biti jedan od ciljeva za neku buduću posetu kao i poseta Citadeli koja je bila otvorena.
Što se menjačnica tiče treba se biti obazriv jer pokušavaju da se ugrade. Obavezno se raspitajte kolika je provizija uz dati kurs jer ide od 1 pa do 10%. Mi smo menjali na raskrsnici Oktagon gde je bilo 1% provizija.
Verujem da je na proleće Budimpešta još lepša. Verovatno su i kombinacije sa karticom odbre ali treba i to prvo istražiti.

Budapest city trucks spraying water on tram tracks in Budapest, Hungary
These are Budapest, Hungary city trucks spraying water on tram tracks on July 11, 2017 on line 2 of the tram system between the Elisabeth Bridge and the Sinatra Piano Bar on the Pest side of Budapest. Have never seen this practice before, but the spray pattern clearly indicates that the goal is the tram tracks themselves. Having watched a number of episodes of Japan Railway Journal on the NHK Network, I believe the purpose is friction reduction for the purpose of reducing track and wheel wear, because some Japanese trains use water to reduce friction on certain places of track instead of oil where they want the lubrication to stay right where they put it instead of being carried further up the track. So, this must be for that same purpose.

Kíváncsi rá, hogy hogyan néz ki napjainkban a lezárt zóna? Szeretne virtuális sétát tenni az elhagyatott épületekben és kihalt utcákon? A magyar felfedezőcsapat 2011-től jár a Csernobili lezárt zónába. Eddig 4 alkalommal, és összesen 9 napot tartózkodtak ott, hivatalosan szervezett túra keretében.
Szigorúan a szabályokat betartva, ukrán vezetővel járták be és fedezték fel a Zóna érdekes helyeit, amit fotókkal és videókkal dokumentáltak. Elhagyatott falvak, TSZ, sorsukra hagyott autók, vonatok, vasúti kocsik, Pripjaty városában lévő intézmények és maga az 1986-ban balesetet szenvedett atomerőmű is bemutatásra kerül összefoglaló videó filmünkből. A film a 2017-es és a 2019-es bejárást örökítette meg!
