Elmshorn is a town in the district of Pinneberg in Schleswig-Holstein in Germany. It is 30 km north of Hamburg on the small river Krückau, a tributary of the Elbe, and with about 50,000 inhabitants is the sixth-largest town in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is the birthplace of writer and editor Hermann Schlüter (1851–1919), the mathematician Hermann Weyl (1885–1955) and the medievalist Heinz Woehlk (1944- ).
Historically Elmshorn had many companies in the food industry. Including meat processing and sausage production, margarine production and cereal processing. Major surviving companies include Dölling-Hareico (meat processing/sausage production) and Kölln (cereal processing, mainly oats and muesli).
▶ BAHNHOF ELMSHORN / ELMSHORN STATION
Elmshorn station is a railway station in Elmshorn in Schleswig-Holstein. Here the Hamburg-Altona–Kiel railway (R70) meets the Marsh Railway (R60). Elmshorn is also the terminus of the A3 line of the AKN Eisenbahn. That makes it the third-busiest station in Schleswig-Holstein. The Deutsche Bahn classifies it as a category 3 station and Elmshorn station is in the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund.
Elmshorn station was opened 18 September 1844, making it one of the oldest stations in the state. The Hamburg-Altona–Kiel railway should go through Barmstedt but as Elmshorn had more habitans the line went through it. Years ago there was a port railway that connected the station with the south of the harbour. It was replaced with trucks and the last tracks disappeared in 2002.
The Regionalbahn-Schleswig-Holstein runs with trains to Neumünster, Itzehoe, Pinneberg, and Hamburg-Altona. A Regional-Express connects Hamburg Hauptbahnhof with Kiel Hauptbahnhof. The private company Nord-Ostsee-Bahn rides from Hamburg-Altona to Westerland on Sylt. The Schleswig-Holstein-Express rides from Hamburg Hbf to Flensburg. AKN trains run to Ulzburg-Süd. On Friday an Intercity-train rides from Flensburg to Berlin Südkreuz and Köln Hauptbahnhof. The IC to Köln runs on Sunday, too, as an historic train.
On track 1 run the trains to Kiel, Flensburg, Neumünster and Westerland and one Regionalbahn to Itzehoe. On track 2 and 3 run trains to Pinneberg, Hamburg and Itzehoe as well as the Intercitys. On track 1a runs the AKN. The bus station (ZOB (German for Zentraler Omnibusbahnhof)) is located in front of the station.

Neumünster is a city in the middle of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. With more than 79,000 registered inhabitants, it is the fifth-largest municipality in Schleswig-Holstein (behind Kiel, Lübeck and Flensburg).
The first historic record of the precursor village Wippendorf dates from 1127. The name refers to a new monastery Novum Monasterium built by the bishop Vicelinus. Since 1903 Neumünster is a so-called independent city (Kreisfreie Stadt) as it is not part of a district (Kreis).
The city was protested by the Rural People's Movement as part of a farmers' protest movement in northern Germany from 1928 to 1933, which was the basis for Hans Fallada's novel A Small Circus (Bauern, Bonzen und Bomben). The city's Hans Fallada Prize is named after him.
The Schleswig-Holstein NSDAP was founded in 1925 by Hinrich Lohse and received much support. On Kristallnacht in 1938, all Jewish men were arrested and sent to KZ Sachsenhausen.
During World War 2, Neumünster was bombed multiple times by Allied forces in 1945, partly because of its importance as a railway junction and industrial city. The British took control of the City in May 1945.
In the fall of 1946, the state of Schleswig-Holstein was founded and post-war Neumünster held its first municipal election.
Neumünster used to be a hub for the textile industry, seeing a lot of success in the 1970s. However, the industry eventually left the city and Neumünster's last cloth factory closed in the beginning of the 1990s.
Neumünster station is a major railway junction with lines running in six (formerly seven) directions, including the important Hamburg-Altona–Kiel and Neumünster–Flensburg lines.
Near Neumünster at Ehndorf, there is a high-power medium wave transmission facility for transmitting the programmes of Deutschlandfunk, the Ehndorf transmitter, which is often named incorrectly as Neumünster transmitter.
The city has an airfield and a hospital. The utility company, Stadtwerke Neumünster (SWN), also manages local inter-city bus routes.

Rencks Park is a park area in the center of Neumünster, Germany. It was built in 1857 at the banks of Schwale River as a private park. In 1870, the park was made public by Hans Lorenz Renck and Pauline Renck, children of the initial founder Detlev Anton Renck.
Hans Lorenz Renck is still present in the park as a stone monument, and many more monuments and artistic sculptures can be found here. Today Rencks Park is the most prominent urban park in Neumünster.

Itzehoe is a town in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein.
As the capital of the district Steinburg, Itzehoe is located on the Stör, a navigable tributary of the Elbe, 51 km (31.7 mi) northwest of Hamburg and 24 km (14.9 mi) north of Glückstadt. The population is about 32,530.
The church St. Laurentii and the building in which the Holstein estates formerly met, are noteworthy. The town has a convent founded in 1256, many schools, a hospital and other benevolent institutions. Itzehoe is a busy commercial place.[citation needed]
Itzehoe is the oldest town in Holstein. Its nucleus was a castle, built in 809 by Egbert, one of Charlemagne's counts, against the Danes. The community which sprang up around it was variously called Esseveldoburg, Eselsfleth and Ezeho. In 1201 the town was destroyed, but it was restored in 1224. The new town was granted the Lübeck rights by Adolphus IV in 1238, and the old town in 1303. During the Thirty Years' War Itzehoe was twice destroyed by the Swedes, in 1644 and 1657, but was rebuilt on each occasion. It passed to Prussia in 1867, with the duchy of Schleswig-Holstein.
Itzehoe is listed as a garrison depot (Wehrkreis X, Hamburg) of the former Infanteriedivision 225. which was implicated in the 1940 Vinkt Massacre in Belgium.
Itzehoe is also the location of the Wenzel Hablik Museum.
During the period up to and including the Wacken Open Air festival, many festival goers chose to depart for the festival from Itzehoe using the 'Metal Shuttle Bus' which departs from near Itzehoe station. During this time, the town can become very overcrowded and inundated with traffic.
Germany's lowest elevation is to be found a short distance from Itzehoe, in the Wilstermarsch, which reaches 3.54 m below sea level. The town is twinned with Cirencester in the United Kingdom (source: Wikipedia)

In this series, which we hope will last 4 months, we will tour Europe in our motorhome called Machimbombo and visit the extremes of Continental Europe, departing from Cabo da Roca in Portugal, the most western point towards Cabo Norte in Norway. On the way back we will visit the southernmost point in Spain called Cabo Tarifa.
We started today's video while still in Belgium in the city of Kelmis bordering Germany, which we entered after a short time to tour this wonderful country and its autobahns.
We spent three nights in Germany, one by its many rivers that are always occupied, another in the town of Kellinghusen and the last by the border with Denmark, at the top north of the country in a wonderful place that is a UNESCO World Heritage nature reserve.

A urban exploring video made with the gopro hero 7 and the DJI Mavic Pro form an abandoned army base in former East Germany.
Some history:
After the end of World War II, a site near a small village in the forests of Brandenburg became important within the Western forces of the Soviet Union.
From 1952, a barracks town was constructed within the woods, that eventually was capable of housing 15.000 people, including military personnel and their families. The garrison was a newly built - planned, constructed and paid for by the East German government. It was self-contained and off-limits to non-essential personnel, and it contained shops, offices, a theater, a gym, schools and medical facilities. During the Cold War, it was the third largest Soviet base inside East Germany.

Units stationed at the base included: the 25th Armored Division of the 20th Guards Combined Arms Army; the 162nd Panzerregiment (Armored Regiment), the the 803rd Schützenregiment (Rifle Regiment). Also stationed here was the 1702nd Anti-aircraft missile regiment.
On the premises, there was also a large communications bunker of the Soviet ground communications network. Although within the confines of the garrison, this comms center had nothing to do with the procedures of the other units there.
In the late 1950s and early 1960, Soviet R-5 nuclear missiles targeted at Great Britain and France were stationed in the garrison. This was a reaction to the deployment of U.S. Thor and Jupiter missiles to Europe in 1957. The Soviet R5-M systems were aimed at Thor Systems in England.
Between 1983 and 1988, parts of the area were used to store SS-20 nuclear missiles. This task was performed by a mobile missile technical base so secret that only its field post number became known. The missiles were there stored for the 152nd Soviet missile brigade.
After the withdrawal of the last Soviet Army troops in 1994, the military town was partly demolished, with the remainder allowed to decay back into the woods. Due to the many ammunition residues in the soil, access to parts of the site is restricted, as the areas can be life-threatening.
