During the Lunar New year I traveled very spontaneously and all alone to the east coast of South Korea to Gangneung. There, within three days, I visited not only Gangmun and Anmok beach, but also some good cafes and traditional Korean sights like Ojukheon and Seongyojang.
In this Video I recommend you 10 of the places I visited in beautiful Gangneung ♡
For various reasons I could not yet see some things... for example: the bus stop in Jumunjin Beach known from the BTS album You never walk alone, the Jeongdongjin Sea Road or the Art museum in the middle of Gangneung.

Gyeongpo Beach, known as the largest beach on the East Coast of South Korea, is situated in Gangmun-dong and Anhyeon-dong. It is located 6km north of the city center and 1km from Gyeongpodae, showcasing the vastness of the East Sea. The beach features a stretch of white sandy shore measuring 1.8km in length and 1.44 square kilometers in area, beautifully complemented by a dense pine forest that provides a serene backdrop, blocking out the noise of everyday life. With its waves crashing as if to engulf everything, Gyeongpo Beach attracts a large number of visitors each year due to its suitable depth and gentle slope, with an average water depth of 1-2 meters. The surrounding area is adorned with pine trees, offering the perfect setting for both beach and forest activities. Additionally, the beach hosts a summer night arts festival annually on a permanent stage, providing a variety of cultural attractions. Renting bicycles and enjoying hiking around the Gyeongpoho Lake area is also a popular activity.

강릉 여행을 시작하려면 안목 해변에서 시작하는 것이 여행코스를 순조롭께 짜는데 도움이 된다.
강릉 안목해변은 강릉으로 보면 가장 아래쪽에 위치한 해변이다. 안목해변 위로 올라가다보면 강문해변, 경포해변이 차례차례 나온다. 해변가를 따로 소나무 산책로가 쭉 연결되어 있어서 걷기 좋은 곳이다.
강릉해변에서 커피를 마신뒤 강문해변쪽으로 올라가 유명한 수제버거집에서 끼니로 버거를 먹고 포토존에서 사진들을 찍은뒤에 경포해변으로 올라가 경포호수를 구경하고 마지막으로 주문진까지 들러주면 강릉 해변의 대미를 모두 구경할 수 있다.

Gangneung's Anmok Beach is the lowest beach in Gangneung. Walking over the Anmok Beach, you will find Gangmun Beach and Gyeongpo Beach one by one. A pine walkway is connected to the beach, so it's a good place to walk.
After drinking coffee at Gangneung Beach, you can go up to Gangmun Beach, eat burgers at a famous handmade burger house, take pictures at Photo Zone, go up to Gyeongpo Beach, see Gyeongpo Lake, and finally visit Jumunjin to see all the ocean in Gangneung Beach.

This series includes downtown scenes in Sokcho-si, Yangyang County, Gangneung-si, Pyeongchang County. And Seoul–Yangyang Expressway that offers better access to PyeongChang Olympic venues. People coming here must not miss our Pyeongchang Olympic Series!
Gangneung is the city where the actual PyeongChang Olympic Games are held and is the center of ice sports playing on ice rinks.
In Gangneung Olympic Park, Curling, Ice hockey, Speed Skating, Short Track and Figure Skating are held.

???? About Gangneung-si (강릉시)
Gangneung (Korean pronunciation: [kaŋ.nɯŋ]) is a city in Gangwon-do, on the east coast of South Korea. It has a population of 213,658 (as of 2017). Gangneung is the economic center of the Yeongdong region of Gangwon Province. Gangneung has many tourist attractions, such as Jeongdongjin, a very popular area for watching the sunrise, and Gyeongpo Beach. There is a ROK airbase south of downtown Gangneung which formerly doubled as a civil airport.
The city will host all the ice events for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Located in Gangneung, Gangwon-do, Jeongdongjin is a picturesque area with a quaint, little railway station standing alongside the sandy beach.
The combination of the area’s railroad station, beach, and groves of pine trees makes Jeongdongjin a very peaceful and romantic mini getaway. The highlight of the Jeongdongjin tour, however, is the sunrise. The early morning sun reaching out over the ocean and outlining the dewy silhouettes of the station and surrounding pines is a sight that is straight out of a fairy tale.
