Rani ki Baoli in Neemrana, Rajasthan
Rani Ki Baoli, located just off the Jaipur--Dehli highway in Neemarana, Rajasthan. It was built by Thakur Janak Singh in 1700, it's nine storeys deep, with the last two levels underwater. At ground level, there are 86 colonnaded openings from where the visitor descends 170 steps to the deepest water source.
Today, following years of neglect, many of these monuments to medieval engineering have been saved by the Archaeological Survey of India, which has recognised the importance of preserving them as part of the country's rich history. Tourists flock to wells in far-flung corners of northwestern India to gaze in wonder at these architectural marvels from 1,000 years ago, which serve as a reminder of both the ingenuity and artistry of ancient civilisations and of the value of water to human existence.
Neemrana is an ancient historical town in Alwar district of Rajasthan, India, situated at 122 km from Delhi on the Delhi-Jaipur highway in Behror tehsil. It is situated in between Behror and shahajahanpur. Neemrana is an industrial hub. This area is also known as Raath region, It is the site of 16th century hill-fort occupied by Chauhans till 1947. The erstwhile ruling family is considered to be the direct lineage of Prithviraj Chauhan. Some distance from Neemrana is another fort, Kesroli in Alwar district, that is one of the oldest heritage sites. Historians trace it to the Matsya Janapada of the Mahabharata times. In Kesroli one gets to see the oldest remains of Buddhist Vihara at Viratnagar where the Pandavas spent the last year of their exile incognito; Pandupole, with the only reclining statue of Hanuman; the samadhi of the ruler saint Bhartrihari and Talavriksha with ancient water reservoirs.

Vignettes of an old Indian fort-palace: Neemrana in Rajasthan
Neemrana Fort-Palace built since 1464, thus the 15th century treasure. Its on the Delhi- Jaipur highway, just outside Neemrana village in Rajasthan. Neemrana became the third capital of the descendants of Prithviraj Chauhan III, who had fled Delhi in 1192 after he was vanquished in battle by Muhammad Ghori. In 1947, Raja Rajinder Singh of Neemrana moved down to Vijay Bagh as the façade of his Fort-Palace crumbled and its ramparts began to give way. For forty years he tried to rid himself of his liability but there were no takers.
Finally, in 1986, the ruins were acquired for restoration. In 1991 Neemrana Fort - Palace opened its doors with the nobility of its facade raised, and just 15 liveable rooms. In 2000 Neemrana won the Intach-Satte award for restoration & tourism for 'being the foremost example of how we can pick architectural treasures from the national dustbin and turn them around. Neemrana has become synonymous with 'restoration for re-use.' In 2004, Neemrana was nominated for the Aga Khan Award.
Now in 2014, Neemrana Fort-Palace is finally ready with 65 rooms/suites and rampart gardens . An additional wing now houses the pool and health spa, an amphi-theatre, the hanging gardens with a salon, a restaurant with a roof-top garden and conference rooms and many special suites.

जिस समय अकबर ने अपना राज्य सम्भाला उस समय नारनौल पर शासन शूरवंश का था । शेरशाह सूरी का दादा इब्राहिम सूरी हांसी से लेकर अपने चालीस साथियों के साथ नारनौल आया । यहाँ पर शिमला गाँव से नारनौल तक की सारी जागीर शेर शाह सूरी के बाबा इब्राहिम सूरी की थी । जब इब्राहिम सूरी की मृत्यु 1518 ई० में हो गई, तो यह इलाका हसन खाँ के पास चला गया और हसन खाँ को दिल्ली दरबार ने बिहार भेज दिया । उस समय फरीद खाँ ( शेर शाह का बचपन का नाम ) युवा हो चुका था । 1540 ई 0 में हिन्दुस्तान की बागडोर शेरशाह के हाथ आ गई । शेरशाह ने अपने जन्म स्थान शिमला तथा नारनौल को एक विशेष स्थान दिया । शेरशाह ने अपने जन्मस्थान शिमला तथा नारनौल में अनेक बावडियां तथा कुएं खुदवाये । अपने बाबा ईब्राहिम सूरी जिसकी मृत्यु 1518 ई 0 में हो गई थी । उसके साधारण सी मजार को भव्य रूप दिया और तुर्कमान की मजार के समीप ही का निर्माण करवाया जो मौहल्ला पीरआगा में स्थित है यह एक दर्शनीय भवन है । जो क्षेत्र बाबर ने अपने अधिकार में रखे थे , बाकी के क्षेत्र अपने एक विशेष अधिकारी अहसान तैमूर को जागीर के रूप दिया था । नारनौल का क्षेत्र हांसी तथा हिसार की जागीर में आता था । हुमायु की मृत्यु होने पर सभी क्षेत्र में अराजकता फैल गई और शुरवंश ने सत्ता सम्भाल लिया । इस समय हेमचन्द्र भार्गव ( हेमु ) इस्लाम शाह ( दिल्ली का शूर शासक ) हेमू को बहुत पसंद करता था और उसने अपने दरबार में वर्ष 1553 में हेमु को अहम ओहदा प्रदान किया था । उसके उत्तराधिकारी आदिलशाह ने • उससे भी आगे बढ़कर अपनी सारी शक्तियाँ हेमू को सौंपी हुई थी । हेमू ने भी कभी अपने शासक का विश्वास भंग नहीं किया । हेमू ने शूर साम्राज्य के पराभव को रोकने के लिए लगभग 22 लडाईयाँ सफलता पूर्वक लड़ी और अपने दुश्मनों को पराजित किया । जब आदिलशाह सूरी के शासन का अन्त हो गया , तो हेमू भारतवर्ष का सम्राट बन गया । 1556 ई 0 में अकबर के हाथों जब हेमू हार गया उस समय नारनौल आगरा के अधीन रहा । हेमू को पकड़वाने में नवाब शाह कुली खाँ ने अकबर की बड़ी मदद की थी । इसके बाद नारनौल का इलाका शाह कुली खाँ को दे दिया गया । इस इलाके को शाह कुली को देने से पहले नारनौल के समीप एक गाँव सलामपुरा के जागीरदार हाजी खाँ व जयपुर के राजा भारमल ने मिलकर नारनौल के दुर्ग के सेनापति मजनू खाँ को हराकर नारनौल पर कब्जा कर लिया । राजा भारमल ने अपने प्रभाव से मजनु खाँ और उसके सिपाहियों को अकबर से अभय दान दिलवाया । जब अकबर दिल्ली आया तो नारनौल के सेनापति मजनु खाँ ने भारमल की अकबर के सामने बहुत प्रसन्शा की । भारमल और बादशाह अकबर की भेंट करवाई । उसके बाद राजा भगवान दास के बड़े मधुर संबन्ध रहे । अकबर ने दो सिपाहियों के साथ चार हजार विद्रोहियों पर धावा बोल दिया । उस समय भगवान दास और राजा बीदीचन्द नारनौल के साथ हाथी पर बैठकर अकेला ही उपद्रवियों से निपटने चल दिया । उसके हाथी का पाँव अनाज रखने के गढ्ढे में फँस गया । जिसे राजा भगवान दास ने निकाला । इस अवसर पर अचानक हुए हमले में भगवानदास ने अकबर की रक्षा की थी । जब उसे प्यास लगी तो भगवानदास ने अपने पात्र से पानी देकर प्यास बुझाई थी । इस तरह 1572 में नारनौल के युद्ध में भी कछावा राजपूतों ने उसकी आड़े समय में मदद की थी । अकबर ने नारनौल में सिक्के ढालने की एक टकसाल भी लगाई थी । यहां पर ढले सिक्कों पर बद्दरूद्दीन लिखा हुआ है ।

Hey everyone, hope you enjoyed watching my Neemrana Fort Palace Vlog.
Neemrana fort is situated on the Delhi-Jaipur highway and it will take you around 2.5 hours to reach there if you drive from Delhi.
Neemrana palace is hands down the best weekend getaway spot near Delhi, but it's also a lot expensive for the pocket. The price of the rooms (mahals) starts from ₹7,500 for a single night and go up to even ₹35,000. There are a few interesting activities you can try out in Neemrana like ziplining and vintage car ride.
We visited Neemrana Fort Palace in October 2021 and enjoyed every bit of the stay.
