Matheran, situated in Maharashtra state of India is a small hill station. The closest railway station to Matheran is Neral, which is well-connected to Mumbai and Pune by local trains. Neral has a narrow gauge railway station that runs daily trains to Matheran, however the train route from Neral to Matheran remains closed most of the time. Instead, shuttle services run hourly between Aman Lodge and Matheran station. You can hire taxi from Neral to reach Aman Lodge. It takes about 20 minutes to reach Aman Lodge from Neral Railway Station. As Matheran is automobile-free hill station, no automobiles are allowed beyond Aman Lodge except ambulances. So, parking is available in Aman Lodge beside the main entrance. There are frequent toy trains from Aman Lodge to Matheran. It takes around 15 minutes to reach Matheran from Aman Lodge. Once you arrive at Matheran hill station, you will find many hotels for your stay. The market area in Matheran is filled with shops and restaurants. Horses and hand-pulled rickshaws are available for transport. Alternatively, you can explore on your own by foot since most of the tourist attractions are located close to each other.

1.Irshalgad
Irshalgad located between the Panvel and Matheran. Irshalgad is the sister fort of Prabalgad. Talking about the history of Irshalgad is that this fort was under the Maratha rule when Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj captured the regions of Kalyan and Bhiwandi. Irshalgad can not call a fort as there is no fortification available.
2.Hart Point
Hart's point surrounded by dense green woods offers a relaxed, calm, and perfect spot for taking meditation and relaxation techniques. Besides, this is the place from where the magnificent Western Ghats' splendid views and the night view of Mumbai suburbs illustrated with bright lights can be perceived. It is also a popular point to watch the sunrise. The site is famous among tourists as well as locals and is a paradise for nature lovers.
3.Sunset Point
This place is regularly visited in the evening hours to watch the sunset. The site can be accessed by walk or horse, but walking is the preferred mode of reaching this place. It can also be located in Dhodani village, and this trail offers beautiful views. The span of the trek is about one hour from Matheran.
4.Porcupine point
Porcupine Point is two km away from the Matheran Railway Station. Porcupine Point, generally known as the sunset point, is the right place where one can breathe, and feel the fresh air. The area owes its name to its shape, which bears a strong resemblance to the form of a bird called Porcupine.
5.Prabalgad
Prabalgad Fort established between Matheran and Panvel; the trek can complete in one day. Prabalmachi trek is more pleasant with camping at Prabalmachi village. Prabalgad made at the height of 2300 feet above sea level in the Sahyadris Mountain Range, Prabalgad Fort, located on a top of a plateau.
6.Louisa Point
Louisa Point is located on the plateau. If it's a bright sunny day, this place will offer you breathtaking views that will compel you to settle down here for a moment. It is a unique point in Matheran as it provides two different picturesque views. From one point, you can see the sky touching the mountains and a civilization located far in a valley.
7.Garbett Point
Garbett Point is a trekking spot located on the southwest of Mattern and the most famous tourist place. Flanked by a beautiful valley on one side and the thick forest on the other, Garbett Point is where enthralling sunrise and sunset views can be observed.
8.Panorama Point
Panorama Point is one of Matheran's most essential points and is mostly visited early to see the magnificent sunrise. It can be reached by walk, but trekking to this place is a beautiful experience. It takes two hours approximately to reach the Panorama Point from the Matheran market.
9.King George Point
King George Point is a viewpoint in Matheran to see the rolling mountains hidden in rich green natural vegetation, the valleys, the waterfalls, and the mesmerizing Charlotte Lake. It is an attraction to escape the polluted city air and refresh the body, mind, and soul.
10.Alexander Point
Alexander Point is almost 1.5 km from the marketplace and is easy to reach in terms of distance, navigation, and slope. It's an enjoyable walk from one's hotel to this point as you walk through woods, on a very narrow path over red soil, interacting with green trees. The peak offers excellent views of other aspects of the region and the valley below. I will call this point a bigger version of Sunrise Point because it gives the same opinion as Sunrise Point but comparatively has ample space.

Hey Guys I recently visited this KARNALA BIRD SANCTUARY which is located in Panvel Taluka of Raigad District, outside Mumbai, India near Matheran and Karjat.
The sanctuary is centered on the historic Karnala Fort and lies just off the Mumbai-Pune national highway to Goa. It is located 12 km from Panvel. The nearest railhead is Panvel. Regular buses at an interval of 30 minutes are available from Panvel Bus Stand from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm. The sanctuary is open for visitors from sunrise to sunset. There are many hotels and resorts located near the sanctuary. There are two government rest houses inside the sanctuary area.
The bird sanctuary is a popular destination for bird-watchers and hikers in the Mumbai area.
