Small Icelandic Towns - Kópavogur - The Largest Small Town in Iceland

My small town series are meant to give you an idea about how it is to live in Icelandic small towns, without sounding like a tourist guide. My motto is to show them in different seasons trough drive-around videos, as they are, in every kind of mood and weather there is. Please tolerate with my work since I'm an amateur in film-making but practice makes perfect. My plan is to make a mini-documentaries over all Icelandic towns in the next years so this is far from end result. I use all my free time to record in different seasons, making info-texts and collecting feedback in order to make my material straight to the point with the information travellers seek while planing their trip to my country.

So enjoy this winter ride trough Iceland's second largest town, but it's small on international scale. Please use the subtitle option for full narration, or turn them of to enjoy the view even better.

Iceland │6 Best Places to Visit in Winter │Reykjanes │ Part 20

Iceland is rough and it is rough to live there, especially in the winter. Even it’s rough, it’s beautiful and like nothing else.

Rough Iceland is made by the Icelandic Landscape and Nature Documentary Photographer Rafn Sigurbjörnsson.

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor and getting your name on the credit list of my videos and e-books please go to:

Background:
Rafn is an Icelandic Landscape and Nature Documentary Photographer living just a few kilometers outside the Capital of Reykjavík. Where nature surrounds him and he only needs to walk a few minutes to some of the most beautiful places Iceland has to offer. His goal is to document the raw nature for the coming generation to show them what we have or are destroying. His fascination with the Icelandic nature and geologic diversity is endless. Although he has been photographing Iceland for more than thirty years now, he finds the magic is still around the corner and he understands it will take more than a lifetime to finish the job.

He has published 8 books called “Wild Iceland – the untouched nature”. Each book focuses on the collection of the best of the sensational nature of the individual parts of Iceland; these eight books contain photographs of the south, southwest, west, and Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, north, east, west fjord and the highlands.

His Videos on YouTube: )

His photos have been displayed on front pages of various magazines, postcards . . . and he has been awarded on several occasions for his photography and documentation.

One thing he does not like, is photo competitions and he never enters them, but that’s just him.

He’s doing private One-on-One Photo / Photo workshops tours in Iceland If you care to join him. ( )

He is running his own stock photography store “Iceland Stock Photos”

THE ICELAND VLOG | Our 10-Day Family Road Trip | Glaciers, Lava Fields, Waterfalls, Puffins & MORE!

I don't know how we'll ever top this trip?!

We spent 10 days doing a self-drive road trip around Iceland from 29 June to 8 July 2022 and it was MAGICAL. We started in the beautiful city of Reykjavik and then made our way anti-clockwise around the spectacular ring road before going on to explore the Westfjords. This is our trip as a family of four South Africans (spot the springbok supporters' gear almost every day :)). We hired a car, stayed in family rooms in hostels, and self-catered most meals in order to keep costs down - and it was so worth it! This holiday was an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience that I am so grateful for.

If you have any questions about our trip drop them in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them all.

Also, stay till the end for some bloopers ;)
