Pune Description :
Pune is a sprawling city in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. It was once the base of the Peshwas (prime ministers) of the Maratha Empire, which lasted from 1674 to 1818. It's known for the grand Aga Khan Palace, built in 1892 and now a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, whose ashes are preserved in the garden. The 8th-century Pataleshwar Cave Temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

1.Aga Khan Palace :
Age Khan Palace is well known both for its architectural excellence as well as its historical significance. Spread over a vast land of 19 acres, the palace is now the headquarters of the Gandhi National memorial society. Here, making khadi is still one of the prime activities.
2.The museum owes its existence to the efforts and contributions of countless people from all walk of life. It has hence, become a popular attraction for the town, that celebrates and creates increasing awareness and knowledge about Indian army and its soldiers
3. Shaniwar Wada :
Standing tall in its full glory, Shaniwar Wada was once a stately mansion. Built as a dwelling for Peshwas, its foundation was laid by Bajirao I in year 1730 AD. Today it gives a chance to peak into its great past.
4. Shivneri Fort :
Situated near Junnar in Pune, Shivneri Fort can be traced back to the 17th century. The sturdy fortification and the magnanimous structure is home to a grand statue of the Maratha warrior Shivaji. The fort can be reached through a trek up a hilly terrain or through a motorable road.
5. Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum :
The museum is built in Rajasthani style and is a worth a visit, while in the city. It adorns artifacts from D.G. Kelkar and other paintings of Lord Ganesha & some fine specimens of ancient pottery and paintings.
6. Chaturshringi Temple :
Chaturshringi temple, or the temple of the ¥goddess of the four peaks' is an abode to Devi Chattushringi or Amabreshwari, built by an ardent devotee, merchant Durlabhseth Pitambardas Mahajan, during the Shivaji reign. Legend says he got a vision from the goddess herself, and found a self-manifested deity at this spot, atop the hill and established a shrine. The same has grown into the current shrine, with a 100 steps to reach the sanctum.

8. Parvati Hill Temple :
The cave temple is rock-cut temple dating back to the 8th century. Dedicated to Shiva, the temple has a Shivalingam, a circular Nandi Mandapa and a passage with stone pillars inside.

At a distance of 54 km from Pune, Rajgad is an ancient hill fort situated in the Pune district of Maharashtra. It is one of the top tourist places in Pune and also one of the popular places of trekking in Maharashtra.
Rajgad Fort is one of the grand forts of the Sahaydris and lies at an altitude of 1400 m (4, 600 feet). Formerly known as Murumdev, Rajgad Fort was the capital of the Maratha Empire during the rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for 25 years, before moving the capital to Raigad Fort. The Rajgad Fort was built with the treasure found on the adjacent Torna Fort. This was one of the favourite forts of Shivaji Maharaj and he stayed the most in this fort. Many historical events took place in this fort, such as the birth of Shivaji's son, Rajaram Chhatrapati, his queen, Saibai's death and Afzal Khan's head is buried in the fort.

This video is a complete tour guide of Shivneri fort and the nearby Girijatmaja Ganpati Temple in Lenyadri Caves located in the Junnar District of Maharashtra. Shivneri Fort is the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Maratha Empire. Shivai Dev Temple, Ambarkhana, Shivkunj, Kadelot Point, Mahadarawaza, Hatti Darawaza, Badami Lake, Parvangicha Darwaza, Pir Darwaza, Shipai Darwaza, Phatak Darwaza, Kulambkat Darwaza, water tanks, etc. are all located inside the fort. The Buddhist rock-cut caverns known as Lenyadri caves, one of Maharashtra's Ashtavinayak temples, are located two kilometres from this fort. In the middle of an 18-cave Buddhist cave complex is the Girijatmaja Ganpati Tempe. This temple is in the 7th cave. It is also referred to as Ganesh- Leni.

In today’s video we are taking you to the two most famous tourist attractions of Junnar District i.e., Shivneri Fort and Girijatmaja Ganpati Temple, Lenyadri. Shivneri Fort is the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Shivaji was born in the year 1630 on the 19th of February and his entire childhood was spent in this fort. A modest temple to the goddess Shivai Devi, after whom Shivaji was named, can be found inside the fort. The Fort is very well preserved and is operated by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI). Seven Gates, or Darwaza, are present in the fort: the Maha Darwaza, the Ganesh Darwaza, the Pir Darwaza, the Hathi Darwaza, the Shivai Devi Gate, the Mena Darwaza, and the Kulup Darwaza. Within the Fort is a temple dedicated to Goddess Shivai Devi. The Badami Talav, a sizable lake, is located inside the fort. Near the lake, there are still some traces of bungalows and apartments. At the site of Shivaji's birth, a two-story building is present. The Shivneri fort is one of many forts that surround it. The forts of Narayangad and Harishchandragad are located to its north. Additionally, nearby are Hadsar, Chavand Jeevdhan, and Bhairavgad. After passing into Mughal hands, the fort was once more taken over by the Marathas in 1762. In the end, the British held the reins of command over the fort. Next, we decided to visit the Buddhist rock-cut caverns known as Lenyadri caves, located around two kilometres from this fort. Lenyadri is a group of roughly 30 Buddhist rock-cut caves. These caverns are situated on the Kukadi River's northwestern bank. The sanctuary of Lord Ganesha is located in the seventh of these caverns. This temple, which is one of the Ashtavinayak temples, receives a lot of pilgrimage. There are 283 stairs in total, and among locals it is also known as Shri Girijatmaj. The sixth and fourteenth caves are Chaityagrhas, and the others are Viharas. Escape to Junnar's Serene Eco-Tourism Paradise | Pune Travel Vlog
Let's explore Agro Tourism at Parashar Farms in Junnar in this vlog!
Recently I had an amazing opportunity to shoot an episode on Sustainable and Eco tourism with Bollywood diva and acclaimed actress Pooja Batra for Maharashtra Tourism. We shot this episode at Parashar Farms in Junnar and here's the behind the scenes of the shoot. The episode should out out soon and I will update here with the link as soon as it's out!
We spent the entire day at the farm doing numerous activities like planting saplings, learning about community farming, a crash course on eco-tourism and sustainable way of life and finally eating Maharashtrian thali locally sourced food.
I also asked Pooja about her dream travel destination and her next Bollywood film.
