The Ultimate Korean Bibimbap and Attractions in Jeonju (Day 7)

On Day 7 in South Korea, my wife and I were in Jeonju, South Korea. For lunch we had the ultimate version of Korean bibimbap, which is rice mixed salad, and a dish Jeonju is very famous for. For the remainder of the day, we visited some of the most famous attractions in Jeonju.

00:41 300Zip (삼백집) for breakfast - We woke up in the morning and started off the day with a trip to a famous restaurant called 300Zip (삼백집) to eat a Korean Jeonju dish called gukbap, which is a bean sprout and rice soup. The soup included rice, bean sprouts, eggs, sesame seeds, and some other small vegetables. Additionally it was served with another fried egg on the side. It was a soothing way to start the morning in Jeonju.

3:57 Lunch at Gajok Hoegwan (가족회관) - For lunch we went to this restaurant which is legendary in Jeonju for serving an original version of bibimbap, Korean mixed rice salad. The bibimbap cost 12,000 Won ($10.05) per person, and it included an unbelievable mixture of colorful toppings. I thought it was amazing to watch them making the bibimbap, all within brass personal pans, heated on the stove at just the right temperature, and all the ingredients delicately added to the bibimbap. It was one of the best versions of bibimbap I’ve ever had. It was so simple, yet because of the variety of ingredients and the combination, that’s what made it complex.

10:51 Jeonju Hanok Village - One of the most famous things to do in Jeonju is to walk around the Jeonju Hanok Village, the old village of the city. It’s one of the main attractions that people from all over Korea come to see and experience. There are many things to do within the Jeonju Hanok Village including lots of snacks and restaurants, a hand made paper factory, all sorts of museums, and a number of shrines. Another one of the highlights of visiting the hanok village is to get dressed up in traditional Korean hanbok clothing, and walk around and take photos. So Ying and I rented costumes and walked around. The best Korean snack I had while walking around the village was an skewer of grilled octopus covered in cheese. I never thought the combination would go together so well, but somehow it worked really well.

23:18 Gyodong Tteokgalbi (교동 떡갈비) Restaurant - For dinner we ate at a restaurant within the Jeonju Hanok Village known for serving tteokgalbi, which is a Korean dish of minced short ribs, marinated and grilled on your tabletop. It was my first time to have this Korean dish, and along with all the different side dishes and vegetables, it was delicious.

Day 7 in Korea was an amazing day of visiting attractions in Jeonju and eating one of the most complex and delicious bowls of Korean bibimbap that I’ve ever tried.

The Jeonju Hanok Village is the Korean representative tourist place where about 10 million people visit every year.

and besides these, there are much foods to lure foreign visitors in Jeonju-bbangscream, a combination of mangos and vanila icecream, a squid fried whole called ozzang, skewered tteokgalbi meatballs, chocolate pies of Pungnyeon Bakery, Veteran Kalguksu, etc.

It will be a nice opportunity to have a memory of parading on a street with Hanboks, Korean traditional costumes, put on.

Traditional Korean Food in Jeonju! | South Korea Travel Vlog

We try Jeonju Bibimbap! It's a traditional Korean food consisting of a rice bowl with different ingredients. We went to a highly rated restaurant and nearly burned off all of our taste buds with the spice. It was good! Then we explored. Sadly, we missed the night market due to our timing (it's only on Friday and Saturday in Jeonju).

The next day we tried any and all of the street food/vendor food we wanted! That included haddeok, potato tornado, sugared strawberry sticks, and a couple other things! Including Brianna's new favorite treat - octopus.

If you're looking for a place to stay in Jeonju right in the in Hanok VIllage - we suggest Starlight Rest Area. We loved both the place and the owners. They were excellent!

About Us

We met in college and started a five year journey to graduate, get jobs, pay off student loans and save money to travel. After getting married we bought a one way ticket to Greece in July of 2021 and have been traveling around the Globe since. Living abroad definitely brings some unique experiences.

These laidback Youtube videos will be our way of keeping in touch with family and friends as we explore different countries, try new and strange foods (and of course pizza), and see how many times we can avoid airplane fares. These homevideos will be the only souvenir we end up with at the end (only because nothing else will fit in our bags).

Thanks for watching!

Not to be confused with Gwacheon’s Grand Park, is a large complex to keep you busy for an entire day of fun or even longer if you also stop by the mentioned Seoul Children’s Museum. Besides an amusement park (under renovation) and the usual playgrounds, visitors should not miss its urban-size zoo including a mini-zoo section, the giant musical fountain, and the water playground.

Anseong Farmland.

Anseong Farmland has all it takes to let you experience a full day at the farm. Large meadows with cows, horse riding, ducks, chickens, and piggy houses are all available for fun. The visit starts with the sheep area where you can pet and feed adorable little lambs. In the warmer days, enjoy dining outdoors at the Deutsche Ville and even splash in the seasonal swimming pools.

Lotte World.

Everland.

While at its best from spring to late fall, you may also visit in winter when a lighting festival is held and the landscape is regularly covered with snow.

However, it is equally enjoyable for families with children too! Its beautiful scenery floating in the midst of the North Han River and surrounded by green forested mountains is worth a trip alone. Add the exotic boat ride or the amazing sequoia alley and you will have a perfect formula for a day trip with beautiful family pictures.
