Cap Angela | Bizerte | Exploring Tunisia
My last Rondonee before I head back to Trinidad and Jamaica. We visited Bizerte, the northern most city in the African continent.
We stopped at the city of Bizerte and walked around the Old Port area, very beautiful area with the fishing boats and old houses. We walked through the old city and is surrounded by an ancient walk that is still intact.
I took a very short tour of la Maison de la culture Cheikh Driss, the cultural center of Bizerte that used to be a Cathedral, the Stained-Glass Windows are amazing!
We then got back on the bus and when to Cap Angela, the top point of the Africa, it was amazing to think that I was there at the top!
The views of the Mediterranean Sea were amazing, and we had lunch on the seaside before heading back to the to go the Grotte beach. A few of us hiked further looking for caves but we realized the grottes means rocky, and not caves.
It was still great because of the views and the joy of hiking in nature.
A great time for all.

Bizerte: Traditional Quarters Of Tunisia, Lovely Markets And Great Attractions, Tour Of Bizerta
Bizerte is located in the north of Tunisia, approx. 65km north of Tunis. It is the the largest city north of the capital. Bizerte is not on the tourist track so you may actually have a chance to see some real Tunisia here. The main other reasons to come here are the unspoiled traditional quarter of the old port and the presence of a couple of good beaches in the area.
The main draw in the old medina is the enormous kasbah. With its massive walls it looks out over the northern side of the entrance to the old harbour. Originally a Byzantine fort built in the 6th century AD, the present fort was built by the Ottomans in the 17th century. There is also a smaller fort called ksibah, which actually also means small fort, which houses a small but interesting oceanographic museum.
Around Place Bouchoucha in the heart of the Ottoman town you find lively fish markets, the Great Mosque and the Youssef Dey fountain.

Marrakesh (Morocco): Jemaa el-Fnaa market by night, daytime sightseeing
Morocco, a pre-pandemic trip in the low season of December. This is the third and last episode of a best of version with just the most interesting footage from an earlier posting about 1 1/2 year ago. We have returned from our trip to the coastal toen of Essaouira, and we here show some glimpses from our last days in Marrakesh.
Highlights:
We start in our rented apartment in a Riad close to the central market (Jemaa el-Fnaa), and take in the view from the rooftop (where the breakfast is served), before visiting Bahia Palace and El Badi Palace, and finally enjoying a cup of Moroccan mint tea in the botanical garden of Le Jardin Secret.
In the afternoon we go back to the central market, where we take a cup of tea and some cakes in a cafe overlooking Jemaa el-Fnaa. The market place is packed with tourists and locals selling food and clothes and souvenirs (and what not) from their stalls on this really huge market place. As the daylight wanes we move across the plaza to another restaurant, where we continue to watch the sizzling and bustling market life below us, and order another excellent Tajine dish. With the view from here we see no reason to move again, and stay until late in the evening :-)
