Situated where the UNESCO recognised Ilulissat Icefjord enters Disko Bay, the town watches over a procession of icebergs that mesmerise with their fantastical shapes and colours. It is also a centre for sledge-dog culture and the howls of the dogs are an ever-present soundtrack. This short film provides a brief history of the settlement and also visits the Icefjord Centre, the Icefjord itself, and the Knud Rasmussen museum before taking to the water to view the icebergs up close. As the Danish territory's third largest town, this relatively small city is bustling with energy and natural beauty that you simply won't find anywhere else in Denmark's realms. Nestled on the north shore of its impressive namesake icefjord, on the coast of jaw-dropping Disko Bay, Ilulissat is one of the most stunningly beautiful towns that I've ever visited.
In this vlog, I tour the urban side of Ilulissat (don't worry, I'll tour the icefjord & the incredibly natural beautiy of Disko Bay in my next vlog!), wandering its very developed town centre and enjoying surprising creature comforts that I definitely didn't expect to find in the Arctic. Hotel Ilulissat Best Western Plus in Ilulissat, Greenland
Hotel Ilulissat in Greenland is located in the heart of Ilulissat city, which means that everything you will ever need is just around the corner. The supermarkets, the restaurants, and the tourist information office are just a few-minute walk. The Icefjord is about a 15-minute walk.
At the top of the hotel, you will find the breakfast area on the Rooftop that offers a panoramic view of Ilulissat Icefjord as well as the town of Ilulissat, while enjoying your full breakfast, lunch, dinner, or maybe just a cup of coffee and a small cake. The lobby has calming music and you can buy a beer or coffee to sit and relax.
The hotel offers a free airport shuttle ride. You will have to call the hotel the night before your arrival to give them your flight information so that they pick you up at the airport. They can also drop you off at the airport after you check out.
Hotel Ilulissat is part of Best Western Plus.

Part 1 - Exploring Ilulissat, Greenland - (Ilulissat Walking Tour) - Travel Vlog
Explore Ilulissat, Greenland with me in this walk-and-talk video as I walk through the streets of this charming city of Ilulissat, Greenland.
Ilulissat means Icebergs. It has the biggest icebergs you'll see outside Antarctica. Ilulissat Icebergs come from Jakobshavn Glacier known as Ilulissat glacier, which is the world’s fasted glacier and moves up to 40 meters per day. The iceberg that sank the Titanic was probably born in Ilulissat. Ilulissat was founded in 1741. The population is approximately 4530.
The midnight sun lasts between 27 May and 18 July. The sun never sets on the town of Ilulissat during this period. This experience, known as the Midnight Sun, only occurs above the Arctic Circle.
