Tanzania Road Trip: Ep 12 Beautiful scenery driving through Mbeya!
I will be posting a series of videos from my road trip done in various parts of Tanzania and Africa.
First series is from June 2022 trip in Tanzania. My best friend and I drove from Dar-es salaam to Mafinga and then Tunduma and then back to Dar es salaam. We pass through Pwani, Morogoro, Iringa, Mbeya and Songwe region. We even cross the border to Zambia to get to our hotel in Tunduma, which was in Tanzania side.
We saw Giraffes in Mikumi Natinal Park on our way to Iringa.
In Iringa, we spent a lot of time in Mafinga, Mufindi and travel to several places in the area. In Mufindi we went to Lufuna, Lugoda Tea Factory, Igowole, TARI Udumuka, Nzivi, Ihegela, Kibidula Farms, Usokami and Mapanda.
We drove through Tunduma, Vawa, Mbeya City, Uyole, Wang'ing'ombe, Makambako, Mafinga, Ifunda, Tanangozi, Ipogolo, Igumbilo, Ilula, Kitonga Mountains, Ruaha, Iyovi Hills, Mikumi National Park, Msamvu, Chalinze, Kibaha, before arriving back in Dar.
We also went to the famous Neema Crafts in Iringa City.

How to Prepare a Sailboat for a Haul out in South Africa- (Patrick Childress Sailing #39)
Sailboat Haul Out Tips and Preparations (Preps) for a major refit in Richards Bay, South Africa at the Zululand Yacht Club.(1 big Boat on 1 small Travel Lift- Patrick Childress Sailing #39)
Upon arrival in Richards Bay, South Africa, we prepare our blue water sailboat, SV Brick House for another boatyard haulout for boat Maintenance, sailboat upgrades, and of course new bottom paint. We will be doing lots of boat work and sailboat renovations here. Patrick Childress shows how he cleans the boat, tests the water for drinking, kills the invading ants before they infest our boat, and then gets us ready to re-fit the boat in to a travel lift that is a little too small to accommodate our rigging. We unattached the forestays to fit on the travel lift, and Patrick demonstrates the best way to do this without taking off the sails, or disassembling the entire profurl roller furling drum. Hauling a sailboat out of the water, even on a travel lift that is a bit too small doesn’t have to be chaotic or cause for concern, but there are a few things to get ready before hauling a boat out of the water for a long sailboat refit.
Here is the ant poison we have carried with us around the world that has worked 99.9% of the time with ants. I recommend carrying a big supply of it because it’s sometimes hard to find!

Just our luck!! we were stopped by the police for passing a truck in a non passing zone! We asked for forgiveness and didn't get a ticket! We were very lucky!!! I didnt' pay any bribe either! The police was very professional and refused to take any money!

Deze keer moet ik (Daan) naar het vaste land van Tanzania. De kinderen en Patricia blijven op Zanzibar. Ik ga een week weg om de projecten in Tanzania te bezoeken. Zowel in Ilula als in Iringa ondersteunen we hele mooie projecten. Maar een week weg van mijn kinderen en mijn lieve vrouw vielen me best tegen ;) Het was heerlijk om ze na een week weer te zien. Maar natuurlijk was het ook mooi om meer van Tanzania te zien. Al vind ik reizen vooral mooi als ik het kan delen met mensen en vooral mijn gezin.

Every week 100s of rich tourists pour into the Kilimanjaro airport in northern Tanzania, East Africa to float in a hot air balloon over the Serengeti or climb Mount Kilimanjaro, 100s of children -- many of them orphaned -- are hungry and need medical attention. Missionaries also come to this area -- in the coffee growing environs on the side of Kilimanjaro -- to meet the needs of the people.
