I have called Oyo a place of firsts because alongside the University of Ibadan, it is also home to one of the first TV stations in Africa NTA Ibadan, one of the first Skyscraper Cocoa house and the oldest stadium in Nigeria formerly known as Liberty Stadium now known as Obafemi Awolowo Stadium. The first African Bishop a formal Slave boy Samuel Ajayi Crowther who translated the bible to Yoruba Language is from Oyo.
A visit to Oyo affords you interactions with the Yoruba tradition (markets, festivals, music, food), history of education in Nigeria and beautiful landscapes starting from forests, rivers, rock formations and elevations.

THE JOURNEY TO THE GIANT CREATION (OkE IYAMOPO)
The trip was smooth to and fro with no disturbances. We left ilorin around after 9, we get to the town around after 10 to 11. From the entrance of the town you will be wow by these giant God creation, so massive that I cannot Describe with words. Like ten minutes drive into the town we dropped at the final bus-stop, as we drop the first things that came to our mind was food cos we left ilorin on empty stomach with table water and mangos. We ask the bikemen at there bike point to direct us the to the nearest food canteen which he did. On getting to the cateen no only Swallow dey as Yoruba man way all of us be we settle for amala and semo with the food no really go well but we chop and sha. But the bushmeat go well for the like of 4bee2c, kings, Ebryhheem and Kazeem. After the food we gear up to go see the gaint creation called OkE IYAMOPO. We jumped on bike and the journey to go see iyamopo begins. As we are getting closer the giant creature keeps getting bigger and bigger after like 20 minutes ride on dis lone road we finally got to the face of the climb. As we get there we all grinning on the giant creation...

OYO ALAAFIN Will Never Be the Same is a video I made about Oyo ile, where Alaafin Oronpoto, also known as Orompotoniyun, was once a king. I visited Old Oyo National Park, one of Nigeria's seven national parks, and the information I gathered is summarized above. I believe our history is fading and that something must be done as soon as possible.
From the mid-7th to the late 18th century,[2] the Oyo Empire was one of the most politically important states in Western Africa, ruling not only over most of the other kingdoms in Yorubaland, but also over neighboring African states, most notably the Fon Kingdom of Dahomey in the modern Republic of Benin to the west.

In the past Oyo empire, Iwere-ile had been a potent fighting town that many Oyo natives, as well as the Alaafin, feared to assault. On December 4, 1996, Iwere-ile became the Iwajowa LG's administrative center following the establishment of the new local government by the Gen. Sanni Abacha dictatorship.

AWE: The Town With the Mysterious FISH.
Aawe is located 5.0 kilometers north of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, and 55 kilometers south of Ogbomoso. It's about two miles south-east of Oyo town. Aawe, like all Yoruba towns and cities, has a plethora of rivers ( sogidi ) and streams flowing north-south, nourishing the many farms, fishing enterprises, industries, and commercial ventures that have defined the majority of its people's profession.
Sogidi Lake is a popular tourist destination in Aawe, and I even saw people from Lagos on the day of my visit.

Exploring Ado Awaye & Iyake Lake - The Only Suspended Lake in Africa
Exploring Ado Awaye is one of the interesting trips you should do this year. I finally visited the Ado Awaye Mountain and Iyake Lake. The Iyake Lake is the only suspended lake in Africa and second of its kind in the world. The hike is an interesting one. It is very tasking but the breathtaking view will make up for the stress. Afterall, difficult roads they say leads to beautiful destinations.

Today we visited Ere Esie, I shared three myth stories about how the human turning into stone story came about and also shared the igbomina history...
I did some research...

-1775 was when it was first discovered...
-Cultural myth/believe:They Consulted ifa who said they were humans turned to stone
-Archeologists different school of thoughts says they were carved and are and were not humans.
-They are over 1500-1700 soap stones
-Federal Government took over it in 1975
-Oba Yakubu Babalola, Egunjobi (the second) the present king said they won’t worship after 10years
-The king can’t come here, It is a taboo because there can’t be two kings in a particular place or location,He could visit before he becomes king but not as a king.
-Discovered some 2008 & 2010
-They weigh 105kg per images on an average.
-Modern hairstyle (both male and female) were seen, shukù, galaxy etc

idere Hills Adventure - The New Tourist Attraction in Oyo State
Idere hills is the new tourist destinations in Oyo State. It is located in the town of Idere in Ibarapa, Oyo State. One of the advantages of this place is it has a good road network and it is just by the road side.
Idere is an hour drive from Abeokuta. It is about 2 hours from Ibadan. It is about an hour drive from Ado Awaye Suspended Lake.

I went to Lake Eleyele to unwind after a 20-day nonstop filming schedule. I am certain that the experience will stay with me forever. Ibadan is one of the most beautiful cities I ever lived. The city has a relaxed pace and friendly people, but it can also be overwhelming with a population that is over three million. A lot of people don’t know about the beauty of Ibadan because it is not on their bucket list, which leaves many attractions unknown to tourists. Like many locals, I have a personal connection to Lake Eleyele because i am a content creator.

Idere Hills | Reopening + Tour

Idere is very Rich in Tourism generally, Cultural & historical ranging from our food, dialect, religion, music, man made wonders, festivals, hills, Valleys, mountains, caves, lakes of different sizes, wonderful rock formations, Eco System and so on.
The major Tourist Sites that has a good number of Historical collections is IDERE HILLS.
Overview of Idere Hills in Ibarapa zone of Oyo State :
It is situated in Idere town, Ibarapa Central Local Government Oyo State. It was once a settlement with an advantage of protection from intruders especially during wars as there are only few entry points to the town on the rock.
Two kings (obas) reigned there before relocating the township to the foothill and other places called Idere today. Part of Idere Hills is being used for farming - cocoa, cassava, tomatoes etc but the whole terrain is being planned to become world class tourism and recreational center.
Some of the sites and their historical significance that we are going to explore on September 1st 2021
Aroye - meaning 'we can see and understand'. It is a three layered rock formation. It is a post/office for the secret police/spy. Areas in front of 'Yara' can easily be seen and findings communicated to the guards and palace for coordination.
Yara - Yara means room in Yoruba language. It is the real main gate to the town on the hills proper. The walls on either side is rocky and approximately about 40ft in length, 18ft in height, and about 6ft apart. It served the trio purpose of security gate with inlet and outlet, room or office for the guards, and the top to the right (Iho Eja) for the snipers.
Eeyore - It's the natural water pool on Idere hills. It is a big indentation with water storage capacity of approximately over 12,000L which is sufficient to support the community then even during the dry season. Its water is majorly for household and agricultural purposes.
Olorogun meji - Two small lakes believed to have been formed by two female rivals, wives to a particular husband and are both mystical.
Odi Ilu - Defense wall, specially formulated and constructed, it has holes for sighting and shooting. It has withstood wind, sun, rain for over 200 years. It is one of the major relics on Idere hills.
Kosomonu - An area on Idere hills, about the tallest place. From here the whole township of Idere can be viewed. Kosomonu means, ' he does not lose the child' - if somebody is lost, instead of running aimlessly around, they go to Kosomonu section of the hills, locate the child and send to fetch the child. It has a tunnel that also serves as a hideout - narrower and longer than 'Yara'.
Iso Eleko Idere - The spot at which the famed Eleko Idere of Irosun meji in IFA panegyrics sold her pap on Idere hills. Idere is undoubtedly an ancient town in Yoruba land, Southwest, Nigeria.
Isoku-Iruku - A place where you have to put the corpse down before you carry it again. While and after coming down from the hills, a section of Idere hill is designated for burial of members of the royal family. While taking the corpse up there, they get to this place where they have to put the corpse down, climb a step and carry the corpse again otherwise the corpse can't be carried comfortably. It becomes a place of rite or ritual during princes and princesses burial.
Idopa - Idopa in Yoruba language means 'where walking stick and staff are submitted' by chiefs, baales and lesser obas that came visiting as Onidere is a strong royalty.
Aafin ( palace) - There are two places that served as palaces. The structures are caves. They serve as both abode and office for the king ( oba).
Iho Eja/Omi Eja - This is a hole on the rock to the right side of Yara that looks like a fish indentation into the rock. Its water is meant for commercial laundry and other forms especially during the dry season.
Oja - Market, it was an open space where people bring their wares - farm produce, food products etc. Eleko Idere was once one of the traders in this market.
Atapa water springs - This is actually a spring at Atapa hill on the Idere hills. It never dries, though not much but always there. It served as drinkable water for the whole community. It is also said to be medicinal and curative for many ailments.
Thousands of Tourists visit Idere Community to explore our tourist sites.
We have other sites of interest with historical antecedents, archeological materials, caves and rock clefts like Otien hills, Oba, Idere; Aye Rock ( it is believed that Aye, the mother of first Onidere and the 12th Alaafin ,Ajiboyede turned to this small rock formation) at Ijegun, Idere; Adanatu Hills, Idere among others.
