We've all watched the Ekiti rally for Yoruba nation and are familiar with some of Ekiti's offerings. Ekiti State is Nigeria's most popular tourist destination. We drove from Ibadan to Ekiti, stopping first at Adekunle Fajuyi Memoria Park in Ado Ekiti and then at Ikere Ekiti, approximately a 10-minute drive away, where we climbed the Olosunta Rock. Nigeria is one of the interesting countries in Africa we needed to pass during our trip in West Africa by motorcycle. Also we read a lot about one of the world's dangerous road is Nigerian roads. It was waiting another challenge us for border crossing Nigeria and road trip inside with motorcycle. Nigeria was our 12th country in West Africa travel.
First there is the new border crossing experience, you have a 30 days visa but the officials at the border are deciding how long you are actually really are allowed to stay. A bit strange but this is the way it goes, we where prepared with a story and talked our way so we where allowed to stay the full 30 days in the country. Which was very good afterwards as we had problems with 1 of our motorcycles and need to stay 2 weeks in Lagos Nigeria’s biggest city.
Due to all police stops you have on the roads in Nigeria, after the border literally every 500 meters one we decided to not use our camera on our helmet. But we did made some photo’s so we can show you our experience in Nigeria by motorcycle.
We passed the border from Benin to Nigeria from Idi Iroko, there are multiple places to cross the border but some of them are known corrupt border crossing what we wanted to avoid! Idi Iroko was a good choice and we managed well ????
Our route through Nigeria was as followed Idi Iroko, Lagos, Sagamu, Benin city, Awka, Owerri, Aba, Calabar, Ekok and into Cameroon.
