City Description:
Salvador, the capital of Brazil’s northeastern state of Bahia, is known for its Portuguese colonial architecture, Afro-Brazilian culture and a tropical coastline. The Pelourinho neighborhood is its historic heart, with cobblestone alleys opening onto large squares, colorful buildings and baroque churches such as São Francisco, featuring gilt woodwork.From Pelourinho, the Elevador Lacerda art deco elevator descends a cliff to the waterfront and the Mercado Modelo, a large crafts market. Beachside Rio Vermelho is the heart of the city’s restaurant and nightlife scene. At the tip of the peninsula, the Santo Antônio da Barra fort and its accompanying lighthouse and nautical museum overlook All Saints’ Bay. At street stalls all over Salvador, Baianas (women in traditional all-white outfits) sell acarajés and abarás, Afro-Brazilian dishes based on black-eyed peas. Carnaval time brings samba and axé music, massive street parties and parades.
Weather and Events:
The weather is warm and humid year-round, with more rain in winter (Jul–Aug). Peak seasons include summer (Dec–Mar) and Jul–Sep, particularly around New Year’s and Carnaval (Feb/Mar, dates vary), one of the world’s largest. Other major events include the Bom Jesus dos Navegantes festival (Jan), with its boat parade, and the Iemanjá Festival (Feb), dedicated to the Afro-Brazilian goddess of the sea.

Além da rua São Clemente, Botafogo tem também uma das área de Happy Hour mais famosa do Rio de Janeiro, a rua/praça Nelson Mandela. Seguindo para o Humaitá, um bairro pacato com ruas sem saída que terminam na Floresta da Tijuca e por final, um pequeno pedaço da Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.
Crossing Botafogo along the iconic St. Clement Street where important figures lived the country's history in their homes and palaces. Besides São Clemente street, Botafogo also has one of Rio de Janeiro's most famous Happy Hour area, Nelson Mandela street / square. Manaus ( AFI : [mɐ̃ˈnaʊ̯s] or AFI : [maˈnaʊ̯s] ) is a Brazilian municipality , capital of the state of Amazonas and the main financial , corporate and mercantile center of the Northern Region of Brazil . [ 7 ] [ 8 ] It is the most populous city in the Amazon , in the North Region and in the entire Brazilian Amazon , with an estimated population of 2,255,903 inhabitants in 2021. [9 ] Located in the center of the largest rainforest in the world , Manaus is one of the biggest tourist destinations in Brazil [ 10 ] and also the most influential city in the Western Amazon , where it has a significant impact on commerce , education , finance , industry , media . , research , military power , technology and entertainment throughout the region, receiving the classification of regional metropolis , by theBrazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). [ 11 ] Manaus houses the headquarters of the National Institute for Research in the Amazon (INPA), being the most important center for scientific studies of the Amazon biome and for international sustainability issues . [ 12 ] [ 13 ] [ 14 ] The city is located more precisely at the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers [ 15 ] and its greatest cultural symbol is the Teatro Amazonas, listed as a National Historic Landmark by IPHAN . [ 16 ] [ 17 ]
Founded in 1669 from the Rio Negro Fortress , Manaus became known during the rubber cycle as the Paris of the Tropics , due to the luxury of its European architecture, attracting foreign investment and immigrants from all over the world. [ 18 ] As a result, Manaus became known worldwide and exerts significant national and international influence, whether from an environmental, cultural or economic point of view. [ 12 ] [ 14 ] [ 19 ] [ 20 ] [ 21 ] It has important monuments, museums , parks , beaches , research institutes and theaters , such as the Teatro Amazonas , the Monument to the Opening of Ports , the Amazon Biotechnology Center , the Technological Development Institute , the Sidia Institute of Science and Technology , the Parque Municipal do Mindu , the Jardim Botânico de Manaus , Praia da Ponta Negra and high-profile events, such as the parade of the samba schools of the Grupo Especial de Manaus at the Sambadrome[ 22 ] and theAmazonas Opera Festival, at Teatro Amazonas. [ 23 ]
Manaus is the seventh most populous city in Brazil , and its metropolitan region , with over 2.7 million inhabitants, is the 11th most populous in the country . The city has a cosmopolitan character , attracting immigrants and tourists of different nationalities. [ 24 ] In 2010, the Human Development Index (HDI) of Manaus was considered high by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), whose value, at 0.737, was the highest at the state level. [ 25 ] Considering only longevity, the index is 0.826, the income index is 0.738 and the education index is 0.658.[ 25 ] According to thequality of liferankingMercerin 2019, Manaus appears in fourth place among the evaluated Brazilian municipalities and in 127th place worldwide. [ 26 ] In general, the consultancy analyzed items such as health, economy, education, housing, public services, culture and the environment. [ 27 ] [ 28 ]
The municipality has the sixth largest GDP in Brazil, representing, alone, 1.1% of the entire national GDP in 2019. [ 29 ] Manaus is the third most entrepreneurial city in the country, according to the Connected Smart Cities Ranking of 2021, behind in front of the federal capital Brasília , and capitals such as São Paulo and Porto Alegre . [ 30 ] The city is home to companies such as Samsung Brasil , [ 31 ] Petróleo Sabbá [ 32 ] and Rede Amazônica , the largest communications group in the North Region.[ 33 ] The capital of Amazonas hostedthe Ibero-American Athletics Championshipsin 1990, [ 34 ] was one of the twelve host cities ofthe 2014 FIFA World Cup, one of the five host cities ofthe 2016 Olympic Gamesand host of the2018 Women's Libertadores Cup.

Ponta de Humaitá é muito visitada na cidade de Salvador e localiza-se na Cidade Baixa, é conhecido também como Ponta de Monte Serrat, o seu nome turístico é Ponta de Humaitá e reúne diversas atrações, ficando no Extremo Sul da Península de Itapagipe. Conhecer mais sobre a história de Salvador e ter uma vista da Baía de Todos os Santos. Além disso, a Ponta de Humaitá possui o Clube Nautico da Bahia, o Farol de Humaitá e a Igreja e o Mosteiro de Nossa Senhora de Monte Serrat. A Ponta do Humaitá é um dos lugares mais charmosos de Salvador, com privilegiada vista da Baía de Todos os Santos e um pôr de sol inesquecível. Uma pequena península sobre a Baía de Todos-os-Santos onde foram construídos no final do século a Igreja e o Mosteiro de Nossa Senhora do Monte Serrat. Manaus ( AFI : [mɐ̃ˈnaʊ̯s] or AFI : [maˈnaʊ̯s] ) is a Brazilian municipality, capital of the state of Amazonas and the main financial, corporate and mercantile center of the Northern Region of Brazil . [ 7 ] [ 8 ] It is the most populous city in the Amazon , in the North Region and in the entire Brazilian Amazon , with an estimated population of 2,255,903 inhabitants in 2021. [9 ] Located in the center of the largest rainforest in the world , Manaus is one of the biggest tourist destinations in Brazil [ 10 ] and also the most influential city in the Western Amazon , where it has a significant impact on commerce , education , finance , industry , media . , research , military power , technology and entertainment throughout the region, receiving the classification of regional metropolis , by theBrazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). [ 11 ] Manaus houses the headquarters of the National Institute for Research in the Amazon (INPA), being the most important center for scientific studies of the Amazon biome and for international sustainability issues . [ 12 ] [ 13 ] [ 14 ] The city is located more precisely at the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers [ 15 ] and its greatest cultural symbol is the Teatro Amazonas, listed as a National Historic Landmark by IPHAN . [ 16 ] [ 17 ]
Founded in 1669 from the Rio Negro Fortress , Manaus became known during the rubber cycle as the Paris of the Tropics , due to the luxury of its European architecture, attracting foreign investment and immigrants from all over the world. [ 18 ] As a result, Manaus became known worldwide and exerts significant national and international influence, whether from an environmental, cultural or economic point of view. [ 12 ] [ 14 ] [ 19 ] [ 20 ] [ 21 ] It has important monuments, museums , parks , beaches , research institutes and theaters , such as the Teatro Amazonas , the Monument to the Opening of Ports , the Amazon Biotechnology Center , the Technological Development Institute , the Sidia Institute of Science and Technology , the Parque Municipal do Mindu , the Jardim Botânico de Manaus , Praia da Ponta Negra and high-profile events, such as the parade of the samba schools of the Grupo Especial de Manaus at the Sambadrome[ 22 ] and theAmazonas Opera Festival, at Teatro Amazonas. [ 23 ]
Manaus is the seventh most populous city in Brazil , and its metropolitan region , with over 2.7 million inhabitants, is the 11th most populous in the country . The city has a cosmopolitan character , attracting immigrants and tourists of different nationalities. [ 24 ] In 2010, the Human Development Index (HDI) of Manaus was considered high by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), whose value, at 0.737, was the highest at the state level. [ 25 ] Considering only longevity, the index is 0.826, the income index is 0.738 and the education index is 0.658.[ 25 ] According to thequality of liferankingMercerin 2019, Manaus appears in fourth place among the evaluated Brazilian municipalities and in 127th place worldwide. [ 26 ] In general, the consultancy analyzed items such as health, economy, education, housing, public services, culture and the environment. [ 27 ] [ 28 ]
The municipality has the sixth largest GDP in Brazil, representing, alone, 1.1% of the entire national GDP in 2019. [ 29 ] Manaus is the third most entrepreneurial city in the country, according to the Connected Smart Cities Ranking of 2021, behind in front of the federal capital Brasília , and capitals such as São Paulo and Porto Alegre . [ 30 ] The city is home to companies such as Samsung Brasil , [ 31 ] Petróleo Sabbá [ 32 ] and Rede Amazônica , the largest communications group in the North Region.[ 33 ] The capital of Amazonas hostedthe Ibero-American Athletics Championshipsin 1990, [ 34 ] was one of the twelve host cities ofthe 2014 FIFA World Cup, one of the five host cities ofthe 2016 Olympic Gamesand host of the2018 Women's Libertadores Cup.
