What to expect of tranquil DRENTHE - The Netherlands

The province of Drenthe in The Netherlands is loved for its untouched nature, beauty and tranquillity. The tens of kilometres of walking trails and bike paths lead through open landscapes, peat bogs, moors, forests and more. The purple heather can be admired from late July to early September. The tulips bloom from end of March to mid-May.

I highly recommend Dwingelderveld National Park (the largest continuous wet heathland area in Western Europe) and also Transit Camp Westerbork. Over 100,000 Jews, Sinti and Roma were deported from this camp during WWII. The camp grounds are freely accessible and a few original structures still remain.

Drenthe also has a number of great cities, including Assen, Emmen, and old Coevorden. There are great activities available here, too, such as Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen and TT Assen.

Living in The Netherlands – The Pros and Cons

What are the pros and cons of living in The Netherlands? It doesn't matter whether you're relocating for business, education, or just because you want a change of scenery; moving to a new nation may be stressful for a lot of people. Therefore, before to deciding to live in Holland, you have to take into consideration a variety of variables, including the cost of living, the community, the school system, the level of safety, the availability of employment, and the environment. According to the third rule of Newton, which states that every act has an equal and opposing response, living in the Netherlands has both positive and negative aspects to it.
Consider all of the perks of living in the Netherlands, then make a final decision about making the move there.
PROS:
1. High Quality Education
The World Economic Forum places the Netherlands at the third spot on its list of countries with the highest levels of education. It is estimated that around 81% of persons between the ages of 25 and 64 have finished at least their upper secondary school, which is greater than the average for the OECD, which is 79%. If you are relocating with your children, you do not need to worry about their education since pupils continue to gain knowledge and the capacity to read and write, as well as research, mathematics, scientific, economic, and social skills. If you are relocating with your kids, you are already safe and secure. In addition, the school system in the Netherlands promotes you to grow in your chosen field of work.
2. Healthcare
Having health insurance is a legal requirement in the Netherlands, and residents are expected to comply. As a result of the relatively high cost of the compulsory monthly payment for health insurance, a great number of individuals are unsatisfied with it. However, this is a significant perk of living in the Netherlands as a Dutch citizen: you will never have to spend a significant amount of money out of pocket to obtain medical assistance. This is a government benefit. Some people get the impression that they are throwing their money away since they don't need medical attention too often. However, once they reach the point where they need medical attention, they will get it.
3. A Low Rate of Crime
The Netherlands was classified as the 21st safest nation in the world according to the World's Safest Country ranking for the year 2021. However, your safety is not completely assured no matter where you go since you run the risk of becoming a victim of small crimes such as pickpocketing. When travelling to a new country, safety is a valid worry for everyone, but it is particularly important for households with kids and women who are traveling alone. The Netherlands are a rather risk-free destination. However, you should stay away from places with a high crime rate and adopt the appropriate safety measures. Taking sensible measures, such as securing your home and vehicle behind you when you leave, installing a burglar alarm, and so on.
4. It’s Small and Easy to Get Around
Because the Netherlands is not a very huge country, getting around to its many cities is not difficult. There is an abundance of public transit options obtainable in every given location, including railroads, buses, trolleys, and metros.

10-car ICMm: One of the most aggressive passages I've encountered - Fly-by -

On my way home last Wednesday I decided to make one last stop at the station of Wolvega, as I saw 10 cars of ICMm would pass me; an opportunity I wasn't going to miss out on: and it was a spectacular one!

The station of Wolvega is the first station in the province of Friesland on the mainline from Zwolle to Leeuwarden, situated between Steenwijk and Heerenveen. At a rather narrow platform, trains fly by at the maximum domestic speed of 87,5 m/ph (140 km/h) in both directions, having a margin of error up to around 90 m/ph (144 km/h), before the so called 'ATB' system will put them to a stop.

my guess is that this service was a bit at the high end of that, cause boy what a violence! It might have been the narrow platform ofcourse, as well. I haven't done the math, this time. ????????

I hope you enjoy! ????

NETHERLANDS revisit to Orvelte (Drenthe)

Orvelte is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Midden-Drenthe, and lies about 18 km northeast of Hoogeveen. Less than 100 people live in the village.
Orvelte presents itself as a museum village. There is a saw mill, a blacksmith and a wooden shoe maker, all open to the public. A number of events are held throughout the year featuring traditional Dutch activities.
The statistical area Orvelte, which can also include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 220.

N48 Ommen - Hoogeveen, Netherlands

A drive on the N48 highway, which is some kind of undivided super-two. Seen in the video is the new roundabout with the N36 extension just north of Ommen and the usual sneaky speed camera at Zuidwolde.

Part of my attempt to film all major roads in the Netherlands.

Netherlands - Drenthe - Hunebeds, the Oldest Monuments in the Country

The UNESCO listed hunebeds are the oldest monuments in the Netherlands. The hunebeds are prehistoric tombstones built by the Funnelbeaker people who used boulders for transport to the Dutch province of Drenthe during the Ice Age. A hunebed or dolmen is a burial chamber dated between 4000 and 3000 BC, consisting of at least three but often many more standing bearing stones, covered by one or more covering stones. Drenthe has no fewer than 52 hunebeds within a 30-kilometre radius. Hundreds of dolmens more can still be found in Germany and Denmark.

The Hunebed Centre in Borger on Drenthe’s Hondsrug sand ridge will take you back to prehistoric times when the first farmers settled in Drenthe. In the Prehistoric Time theme park next to the museum you can see what life was like for our ancestors on their farms and you can walk through 150,000 years of Drenthe's history.
