Jharni Narasimha Temple - The only Narasimha Temple inside water | Unseen Narasimha's Temple

Jharni Narasimha is a unique temple of Lord Narasimha situated 300 mtrs deep inside the cave. Here Lord Narasimha killed the rakshasa Jharasura; the latter requested Lord Narasimha to bless him with His shelter. Hence the rakshasa is present in the form of water. Devotees have to walk in the waist deep crystal clear water to have darshan of Lord Narasimha. It is indeed an enthralling experience to visit this temple and be blessed here.

Somanathapura Panchalingeshwara Temple and Narasimha Temple of Karnataka T Narsipura Mysore Tourism

Somanathapura Panchalingeshwara Temple and Narasimha Temple of Karnataka T Narsipura Mysore Tourism Karnataka tourism, India.
Mysore has Hoysala ancient Temple Panchalingeshwara Somanathapura also called as Panchalinga or Pancha Lingeshwara temple. This ancient temple is near the famous Tourist city of Mysore. The ancient Hoysala temple was in a state of ruins and recently restoration work of panchalingeshwara temple has already begun and will be completed in the next one and a half year. The Panchalingeshwara temple was completed around 1265 A.D. It is located just about 500 metres from the famous Chennakeshava temple which is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India.
Though there are scores of temples of the Hoysala period in the old Mysuru region, there are only two Panchalingeshwara temples with five shrines aligned in a straight line, which makes it a unique example of architecture. The other one is at Govindanahalli in Mandya district and is well-maintained. However, the latter was originally a trikoota — having three shrines to which two additional shrines were added on — while the one at Somanathapura had five shrines since its inception,The panchalingeshwara temple at somanatapura temple had many missing portions. The other distinct feature of the temple is that the walls and the shikara or the tower are made of granite and not soapstone. Karnataka tourism has scope to develop such beautiful temples and make it a interesting tourist location.
The Panchalingeshwara temple is located tight opposite the famous Chennakesava Temple also known as Somanathapura temple, also referred to as Keshava Temple or Kesava Temple is the famous temple at Somanathapura. these temples were built by Somanatha , a general of the Hoysala King Narasimha III. In addition to the Kesava temple, Somanatha, consecrated a Shaivism tradition related Panchalinga temple (literally, five linga temple) in the east-northeast corner of the land grant. He also built a fort wall around the land, but these are now in ruins . One of the gopura had collapsed and there were signs of excavation done by people in search of treasure ,resulting in mass destruction of the temple.
Those visiting ancient stone carved temples such as Chennakesava Temple, Somanathapura on state highway 79 (T. Narasipura -Srirangapatna Road) make it a point to explore the Panchalingeshwara temple which lies a stone throw away just opposite the road in between the green fields. Both the stone carved temple along with the ruins of Lakshminarasimha temple are a treat to those who enjoy Hoysala architecture.

The ruins of another Hoysala temple may be the Lakshminarasimha temple or HoleNarasimha Hoysala temple is located hardly 2 kilometre away from the Chennakeseava temple. There are no statues neither is there any maintenance of the place. The road to this place is narrow and not tarred, may not be commutable in rainy season. The only inhabitants of this temple were the bats. This temple too has been identified for restoration work by the State Archaeology Department .
The Somanathapura town was founded in the 13th century by a general named Somanatha a general of the Hoysala King Narasimha III. Somanatha created an Agrahara, that is granted land to Brahmins and dedicated resources to build and maintain temples therein. The town (pura) became known after the name of the patron, Somanatha-pura. Somanathapura was an agrahara during the Hoysala period where five temples were built. This included a Jain temple of which nothing remains, except an inscription, besides two other temples that are in ruins.

According to the inscriptions and textual evidence, Somanatha additionally built the Purahara, Narasimhesvara, Murahara, Lakshminarasimha and Yoganarayana temples in Hoysala style in the region, but all these temples except the Lakshminarasimha have disappeared, after wars. The Lakshminarasimha temple is also in ruins. From the other disappeared temples, the sanctum image of Yoganarayana temple is only known surviving artwork, but it too is in a damaged form.

Mavinakere I ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮ ದೇವರ ಕಟ್ಟೆI Tourist Places in Hassan I Ranganatha Swamy Temple I Holenarsipura

Hidden Gems in Hassan- One more episode is added to our Travel vlog exploring the places less visited but yet the most beautiful places in & around Hassan.

Each of the 8 Taluks in Hassan has so many tourist hotspots less known & less visited by travel enthusiasts. Our Attempt is to include all those beautiful places in our vlog.
This time, we chose Mavinakere, a gem in Holenarsipur taluk in Hassan. Hemavathi river flows with all its charm in the taluk. Mavinakere with Sriramadevarakatte & Bettada Ranganatha Swamy Temple is worth a day of our quality time to be spent.
Our first destination, Sriramadevarakatte is a 150-year-old check dam built across the river Hemavathi, near Kattebelaguli village, Holenarasipur Taluk. It is 27 km away from Hassan, a km away from State Highway 57 connecting Mysore.
#holenarasipura #hemavathiriver #touristplacesinindia
Major renovation work is in the process to upgrade to the Hydroelectric Power plant, which has faded the old charm a bit, but not fully. The overflowing water all along the width of the river with Bellakki all around the place looks awesome.

Next place in our list is Mavinakere Bettada Ranganathaswamy temple atop the hill with 6 to 7 hairpin bends on our drive uphill. There is a huge Temple entrance arch on the main road. Drive on a rainy day or Early & evening drive is still more energizing. The temple on the hilltop has been renovated with very little harm to the native rocks is commendable. Walkaround the temple and the view from the top is so divine and blissful too.

From the top, we can witness the clouds kissing the earth, and as usual, very difficult to force us to leave the place.

Much of the information about the temple is available in this website which i found. Thanks to them
