Netherlands Castle Chateau Marquette Noord-Holland Heemskerk Landgoed Château Marquette
Around the Chateau Marquette is a beautiful country estate where you can walk. Six acre estate, surrounded by a protected nature reserve. This protected breeding meadow birds, but also Nile geese and Canadian geese favorite place to stay. There have even been spotted spoonbills. Foxes visit this area is really like .Chateau Marquette has a wonderful long driveway with trees and stately in the distance you see the castle lie. It is unfortunately not to visit. The estate is a hotel located in an old farmhouse (expanded and modernized) in the direct vicinity of the castle. It is possible to enter the castle to marry and then the party there to celebrate. The guests can then stay overnight at the hotel. The gate of the Chateau Marquette is on the left to see a beautiful coach house with shutters .

Rondom het Château Marquette ligt een prachtig landgoed waar je heerlijk kunt wandelen. Zes hectare landgoed, omgeven door een beschermd natuurgebied. Hier broeden beschermde weidevogels, maar ook Nijlganzen en Canadeze ganzen verblijven hier graag. Er zijn zelfs lepelaars gesignaleerd. Vossen bezoeken dit gebied dan ook erg graag.Château Marquette heeft een prachtige lange oprijlaan met statige bomen en in de verte zie je het kasteel liggen. Het is helaas niet te bezichtigen. Op het landgoed is een hotel dat zich bevindt in een oude boerderij (uitgebreid en gemoderniseerd) in de directe nabijheid van het kasteel. Het is mogelijk om in het kasteel te trouwen en daarna het feest daar te vieren. De gasten kunnen dan in het hotel blijven overnachten.Voor de poort van het Château Marquette is aan de linkerkant een prachtig koetshuis te zien voorzien van luiken.

Uitgeest is a town in the province of North Holland, The Netherlands. It has a total area of 22.29 km and has a population of around 13,700. Uitgeest is close to the highways of A9 and N8/A8. That is why from here you can easily access Amsterdam in around 25 to 35 minutes. The things you can do in Uitgeest are: sailing/water sport, picnic by the lake or swim by De Zien (public outdoor pool). You can also enjoy the beaches & visit the neighboring towns of Castricum, Heemskerk, Wijk aan Zee and IJmuiden. If you want to experience the Cheese Market, you can go by bus or by train to Alkmaar.

Slot Assumburg. A castle in Heemskerk, the Netherlands. Built in the 13th century and since 1933 used as a (youth) hostel.
We stayed in this castle from August 10 till August 13 2021.
The castle is nicely restored and even the garden is brought back in its original state (the restoration of the garden started in 2009).

Marquette Castle is an 18th-century manor house in Heemskerk, the Netherlands, occupying the site of the previous 13th century Heemskerk Castle, or Huis te Heemskerk.

The first version of Marquette Castle was a round water castle dating from the 13th century. The round water castle is known from many old pictures. These suggest at least one building along its wall. They also show its later use as a walled garden with a pond.
In 1802 the last remains of the water castle were demolished. All that remained were the very wide moats. In 2021 the castle terrains were investigated with ground-penetrating radar and two other non-invasive techniques. These showed the water castle, as well as its gatehouse. The outer diameter of the water castle proved to have been about 40 m. This is larger than Egmond Castle's round water castle which measures slightly less than 30 m.
Netherlands archaeological monument Huldtoneel Heemskerk Noord-Holland Nederland
The Huldtoneel in Heemskerk is one of the first archaeological monuments in the Netherlands. It is an artificial hill where once the counts of Holland were inaugurated as Lord of Kennemerland. For the inauguration of the count was important because it meant that the inhabitants of Kennemerland accepted him as their new lord. He could therefore count on their support.

Het Huldtoneel in Heemskerk is één van de eerste argeologisch monument in Nederland. Het Huldtoneel is een kunstmatig aangelegde heuvel waar ooit de Graven van Holland ingehuldigd werden als Heren van Kennemerland. Voor de graaf was de inhuldiging van belang want het betekende dat de Kennemers hem accepteerden als hun nieuwe heer. Hij kon dan ook op hun steun rekenen.

Castle Slot Assumburg (also Stayokay hostel) has finally been given a castle garden. Of the original garden was nothing left. The reconstruction is done by using an extant print of a copper engraving. After three years of hard work and years of preparation, the garden is finally ready. In the castle garden is an old fruit orchard with 150 varieties, especially apples and pears. These species have been described for 1850. There is a vegetable and herb garden where a true well is. At the end of the garden is a special (shore) notes collection. There is a rose garden with 2500 roses to admire. A part of the garden is screened by hedges and there is also a bell-shaped pond with fountain. Along the fence are ornate pedestals with busts and there are decorative vases on pedestals. It has become a unique garden with a formal and an informal part behind the castle Slot Assumburg. The castle garden Slot Assumburg is every day free to visit between 9.00 and 18.00 hours. History of the castle garden: Around the year 1730 there was a geometric ornamental garden, at that time was constructed only for the very rich. Merchant and banker Mr. Jean Deutz (1655-1719) in Amsterdam was the principal for a formal garden with a unique style garden, an architecture that is now almost completely disappeared. Slot Assumburg (ook Stayokay hostel) heeft eindelijk weer een kasteeltuin gekregen. Van de oorspronkelijk tuin was niets meer overgebeleven. De reconstructie is gedaan aan de hand van een nog bestaande afdruk van een kopergravure.Na drie jaar hard werken en jaren van voorbereiding is de tuin nu eindelijk klaar. In de kasteeltuin is een boomgaard met 150 oude fruitrassen, vooral appels en peren. Deze soorten werden voor 1850 al beschreven. Er is een groente- en kruidentuin aangelegd waar ook een echte waterput staat. Aan het einde van de tuin is ook een bijzondere (wal) notenverzameling. Er is een rozentuin met maar liefst 2500 rozen en een rozenprieël te bewonderen. Een deel van de tuin is afgeschermd met beukenhagen en daar ligt ook een klokvormige vijver met fontein. Langs de haag staan sierlijke sokkels met bustes en er staan siervazen op sokkels. Het is een unieke tuin geworden met een formeel en een informeel gedeelte achter het kasteel Slot Assumburg. De kasteeltuin van Slot Assumburg is voor iedereen dagelijks gratis te bezoeken tussen 9.00 en 18.00 uur . Geschiedenis van de kasteeltuin: Rond het jaar 1730 heeft er een geometrische pronktuin gelegen, die destijds werd aangelegd alleen voor de allerrijksten. Koopman, bankier en regent, de heer Jean Deutz (1655-1719) uit Amsterdam was de opdrachtgever voor een formele tuin met een unieke tuinstijl, een architectuur die nu bijna geheel verdwenen is. Vandaar dat deze barokachtige kasteeltuin, die enige verwantschap heeft met de Koninklijke tuinen van Het Loo in Apeldoorn, een bezienswaardigheid zal zijn in Noord-Holland.

NH Marquette offers free parking facilities, an outside terrace, several conference rooms and a restaurant. With a rental bike of the hotel guests can explore the nearby dune area, the 'Noord-Hollands Duinreservaat'. The beach of Heemskerk is about 5 kilometres away. Amsterdam, Alkmaar and Haarlem are also easy to reach. Near Heemskerk lies the 'Noord-Hollands Duinreservaat', a beautiful nature area with hikinh and biking tracks. After about 5 kilometres one can reach the beach of Heemskerk. Cities such as Amsterdam, Alkmaar and Haarlem can be reached within half an hour by car. A visit to the 'Beverwijkse Bazaar', a large bazaar, is also recommended during a stay in hotel NH Marquette.

Zaandam is a city in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It is the main city of the municipality of Zaanstad, and received city rights in 1811. It is located on the river Zaan, just north of Amsterdam.
The statistical district Zaandam, which covers the city and the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 76,804.
Zaandam was a separate municipality until 1974, when it became a part of the new municipality of Zaanstad.
The history of Zaandam (formerly called Saenredam) and the surrounding Zaan River region (the Zaanstreek) is intimately tied to industry. In the Dutch Golden Age, Zaandam served as a large milling centre. Thousands of windmills powered saws that processed Scandinavian wood for the shipbuilding and paper industries. A statue that commemorates this industry was commissioned from sculptor Slavomir Miletić, and the statue, De houtwerker (The Woodworker), was installed on 20 June 2004.
Zaandam was a leading city in the first Industrial Revolution but then begins a steady decline. Zaandam is also historically linked with the whaling industry.
In 1697, Tsar Peter I of Russia spent some time in Zaandam, where he studied shipbuilding. He stayed in a little wooden house built in 1632, but was soon forced to leave because he attracted too much attention from the local population; he moved to Amsterdam, where he studied at one of the wharves of the Dutch East India Company. The wooden house he stayed was preserved and turned into a museum, the Czar Peter House.
In 1871, the impressionist painter Claude Monet lived in Zaandam for approximately half a year. During that time, he made 25 paintings of the area, including Houses on the Achterzaan, Bateaux en Hollande pres de Zaandam and A windmill at Zaandam.
The shopping area (Centrum) in Zaandam offers everything for a day of great shopping. Since a few years the city centre has transformed into an interesting architectural area. The traditional houses are mixed up with modern day aspects. When arriving by train, the first thing you see is the world famous Inntel Hotel. Next to it is the city's town hall. From here you walk straight into the shopping area!
The classic mansions and the old plane trees make the Westzijde a pleasant street. Here you will find numerous specialty and family stores for more exclusive shopping. On this street you will also find the famous Bullekerk and you can enjoy a snack and a drink at the Zaan in Het Tolhuys.
Inntel hotels with 70 stacked Zaanse houses is the most talked-about building in the Zaan region. It has been discussed in all international architecture magazines. There are five different Zaanse facades - and the famous 'Blue House' painted by Monet - is also incorporated.
There's plenty of things to see and do nearby Zaandam as well. Volendam, Marken and Monnickendam are popular with tourists. These places hark back to times of more honest crafts, showcasing the traditional skills the region was famous for: shipbuilding, fishing and cheese making. You can also experience the heritage of the Dutch industrial revolution in the area, and perhaps the best place to do this is at Zaanse Schans, one of the Netherlands' best loved attractions. It offers a perfectly preserved glimpse into the Netherlands' industrial past with its spectacular windmills and traditional houses, warehouses and workshops.
