Tongnan District is part of Chongqing Municipality, located in the northwest of Chongqing, in the linear economic corridor of Yulong region; it is a new industrial base of Chengdu and Chongqing, an ecological and cultural tourism destination of western Chongqing, and a green vegetable capital of western China. It is adjacent to Hechuan District and Tongliang District in the east, Dazu District in the south, Anyue County in Ziyang City, Sichuan Province, Anju District in Suining City, Sichuan Province, and Funsan District in Suining City, Sichuan Province, and Pengxi County in Suining City, Sichuan Province, and Wusheng County in Guang'an City, Sichuan Province, in the north, and Jialing District in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province.
Tongnan District covers an area of 1,583 square kilometers and has 3 streets and 20 towns; according to the seventh census, as of November 1, 2020, Tongnan District had a resident population of 688,115. In 2020, Tongnan District will achieve a regional GDP of 47.526 billion yuan, an increase of 4.3% over the previous year. Tongnan is a shallow hilly landscape in the basin with flat terrain and an altitude of 300-450 meters; it has a subtropical humid monsoon climate with a mild climate, abundant heat, rainfall, sunshine and four seasons for farming.
Tongnan District has a long history, with the establishment of a county in 373 A.D. (the first year of Ningkang in the Eastern Jin Dynasty) and Dong'an County in 1912, which was renamed Tongnan in 1914 because it was located south of Tongchuan Prefecture. It has given birth to such great men of the times as Yang Gangong, Yang Shangkun and Yang Baibing, and nurtured such historical and cultural celebrities as Chen Tuan, the supreme Taoist, Lv Daqi, an important minister of the Ming Dynasty, and Liao Jingqiu, a master of Sichuan opera; Taian Fish, Lion Dance and Che Che Lantern are included in the municipal intangible cultural heritage, and it is the hometown of Chinese folk culture and art.
Tongnan District has humanistic attractions such as the Dafoji Scenic Area, Shuangjiang Ancient Town, and the scenic spot of Chen Tuan's hometown in Chongjian. It has 4 national key cultural relics protection units, 10 municipal-level cultural relics protection units, and 61 county-level cultural relics protection units. It is an important transportation hub in the Sichuan-Chongqing region, with the Yusui Railway, Yusui Expressway, Tongrong Expressway and the under-construction Beibei (Beibei) Anyue Expressway, and National Highway 246, National Highway 319 and National Highway 351 lines passing through the territory. In June 2017, Tongnan District was named a national health city.

合川文峰街 苏更森作品1Wenfeng Ancient Street, Hechuan District, Chongqing.
Wenfeng Ancient Street, Hechuan District, Chongqing, is located at the intersection of Jialing River, Fujiang River and Qujiang River. Wenfeng Ancient Street began in the Western Zhou Dynasty, prospered in the Tang and Song dynasties, and heard in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Wenfeng Ancient Street is a 1.2-kilometer-long antique commercial street. With Wenfeng Tower as its core, it fully explores the rich historical and cultural heritage of ancient buildings such as Wenfeng Tower, Huijiang Tower, and Huijiang Wharf. It has a strip layout along the river bank. The archaized commercial district has strong Bayu characteristics, gathering famous buildings from the past dynasties in Sichuan. It is a leisure block integrating tourism, leisure and vacation, culture and entertainment, catering and accommodation.
合川文峰街以重庆著名地标洪崖洞为蓝本，是合川集旅游、餐饮、休闲、文化、娱乐于一体的巴俗文化商业街区。文峰街据考证，其地正是巴国故都“巴子城”遗址所在，因古城正中心是合川城市地标文峰塔，所以得名。顺着石板路，古建筑群里透出古风古韵扑面而来，街中参天老黄桷树的树叶在风中拥护摇曳，风格集成了人文之韵，亲水之韵，休闲之乐，美不胜收。
文峰街地处合川城南的涪江渡口，总占地面积约500亩。街区按“一街、一园、两片”划分，有仿古传统商业街、文峰塔、三棵树、滨江生态文化公园等景点，街内店铺林立，并置有文化雕塑。
DAY 17 Xian to Pingliang, Gansu Province
This is Day 17 of the Hong Kong to Urumqi, Xinjiang trip. On this day, I rode 300km from the ancient capital of Xian to the town of Pingliang in Gansu Province. Left on a wet morning, but once I hit the deserts of Gansu Province, I dried up very quickly.

China - Chongqing & Xi'an
We ended our Yangtze River cruise in Chongqing (you probably have heard it called ChunKing) where we visited the zoo to see Pandas and other animals. The Pandas are a national treasure. We also visited the Stillwell museum. Stillwell was the commander of the famous Flying Tigers squadron who helped the Chinese fight off the invasion by Japan so he is a hero. He chose to live in Chongqing after fighting there and you will see some photos of his home high above the river. After Chongqing another flight took us to Xi'an, the city near the site of the famous Terracotta Warriors. One of the oldest cities in Chinese history, Xi'an is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of Ancient China because it has been the capital (under various names) of some of the most important dynasties in Chinese history. Discovered in the spring of 1974 in the eastern suburbs of Xian by a farmer digging a well, the burial site of emperors is still being excavated by archaeologists.
