It's famous for its pristine beaches, with the main beach running parallel to Hastings Street, the main shopping and restaurant street. The northern New South Wales Beaches between Kingscliff and Hastings Point are stunning! Surf, sun and sand. Kingscliff, Cabarita and Hastings Point are quintessential North Coast NSW beach holiday destinations. However, if you are travelling with your dog you may find the area very limiting. We were so lucky to find two beautiful spots at Kingscliff. The majority of the popular coastal areas are very busy and it was not even school holidays. These areas, dogs are prohibited which is a shame.
If you are travelling without a pet, this area could be the perfect get away. According to New South Wales Tourism, Just south of the Queensland border, Kingscliff is a sleepy village on the Tweed Coast. The Tweed has a string of blissful beaches, from Fingal Head near the mouth of the Tweed River all the way south to Cabarita Beach, known for its reliably good waves. Hastings Point Beach, is known for is tranquillity. They suggest to head to Hastings Point for a promising a retreat from the hubbub of life and a holiday reminiscent of simpler times. The Huon Valley, with its lovely green rolling hills and picturesque countryside, is only 30 minutes drive from Hobart.
The Huon region starts at the Mount Wellington Range and continues down to Cockle Creek, the southernmost point in Australia.
It is a place of incredible natural beauty, with the pristine Huon River and the Far South coastline, fantastic mountain ranges, World Heritage-listed national parks, stunning forests, iconic caves and beautiful waterfalls.
The Huon Valley also has a long history of apple growing, boutique cider making and an interesting forestry heritage.

The Tahune AirWalk is a walkway elevated 30 metres above the forest floor, and the narrow cantilever section juts out 50 metres over the Huon River. There are stunning views of the confluence of the Huon and Picton Rivers and vistas to the peaks of the World Heritage Area.

Hastings Caves
You can explore the fantastic dolomite cave system, a labyrinth of chambers, richly decorated and cleverly lit to highlight these amazing formations. Newdegate Cave is the largest dolomite tourist cave in Australia.
Hartz Mountains National Park
Has been shaped by ancient glaciers and is a lovely place to visit in Tasmania’s remote and rugged southwest wilderness. You will see dolerite mountains, small glacial lakes and waterfalls, and a variety of alpine plants and vegetation.
Lake Esperance
Lake Esperance is a tarn ripped into the Alpine Highlands by a glacier. The crystal-clear waters are spectacularly beautiful. The Lake Esperance walk is one of Tasmania's 60 Great Short Walks; it is 3.5 kilometres return and takes approx. 1.5 hours.
Cockle Creek
Cockle Creek is as far south as you can drive in Australia. It's situated on Recherche Bay in the Southwest National Park, part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. This remote stretch of white sandy beach is absolutely stunning.
Pelverata Falls
It is one of the tallest waterfalls in Tasmania and plunges 114 metres down the rock face? The walk to the viewing platform at the base of the falls is 5.2 kilometres and takes about 3 hours. Take care, as the track is rocky and slippery in places.
Duckhole Lake
This delightful tranquil lake is actually a flooded sinkhole. You can discover it in the Southwest National Park; it is part of the extensive regional cave and karst system that includes Hastings Caves. The walk is 4.2 kilometres return and takes 1.5 hours.

Huon River
The Huon River is 174 kilometres long, flows east through the fertile Huon Valley, and ends at the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. You can explore it by Jet Boat, Sailing Boat or kayak, and it is also a popular spot for swimming and fishing.
Geeveston Platypus Walk
Wander along the banks of the Kermandie River near Heritage Park at Geeveston and see if you can spot a platypus. There are several viewing areas and bridges where you can wait patiently and quietly to spot these elusive creatures.
Huon Valley Apples
There are several organic apple orchards in Tasmania’s Huon Valley. You can try their organic cider at the cellar door and museum at Willie Smiths, Apple Shed. You can also enjoy morning tea or a light lunch.

Tasmanian's say their thermal pools are beautiful and warm but may not be hotter enough for us. The caves are also the biggest dolomite open to the public in Australia.

Exploring Tasmania’s Caves! | Newdegate Cave Tour at Hastings Caves Reserve | Australia
Today we're going to the Hastings Caves Reserve in Southern Tasmania! We met our guides for a tour of Newdegate caves. We started with a quick briefing before we headed down into the caves, which were filled with absolutely amazing stalactite and stalagmite structures. It was unlike any cave we have seen before!
After the caves, we drove down to Southport in Southern Tasmania to attempt to find some rock pools. We were unable to find the rock pools, but we did find an absolutely gorgeous, white sand & crystal clear blue water Tasmanian beach!
