We're obviously aware of and deeply concerned about the global pandemic, and are choosing carefully what to publish as forms of escapism and entertainment to help ease thoughts of anxiety, and provide an alternative from the news. We are obviously NOT encouraging anyone to travel now or discouraging social distancing.

There's more to this great state than Manhattan!

Where to go hiking near NYC | Harriman State Park

I spent a gorgeous fall day in Harriman state park hiking from Sloatsburg train station to lake Sebago and finished at Tuxedo Park.
This hike is easily accessible by public transportation. Take the NJ Transit train from Penn Station to Sloatsburg, and in approximately 1.5 hours, you can enjoy beautiful scenery.
I hope you appreciate nature as much I did ????????☀️

Number 1 is the group of quaint villages collectively called the Hamptons.
Early springs and summers are the ideal days to visit these villages. With just about 3 hours of drive from the big city, it is worth spending your time in these quaint beaches.
Before sunset, you can enjoy a long walk with your family!!!

We now move on to Hudson.
Located on the east side of the Hudson River, Hudson, NY is about a 2.5-hour drive from the city. It is one of the most favorite weekend getaways in northeast.

If you want to take a stroll down the history lane, Philadelphia is the weekend destination for you. With vaccination drives and better health services, it is also the best weekend getaways from NYC during COVID times.

Despite being one of the largest cities in this country, Philadelphia has the vibe of an old town.

Philadelphia is often considered the best Amtrak getaway from NYC. You can take the high-speed Acela train as well as the standard Northeast Corridor Line. Philadelphia Zoo is a must go for all travelers.

If you are planning a romantic weekend getaway for couples, then plan a hiking tour of the Harriman State Park. It is the perfect getaway in the lap of mother nature. With just a 35 mile drive from the city, it is probably the most sought after getaway in the northeast.
The park is nature’s paradise with hiking trails, beaches, camping areas, lakes, and a seemingly endless array of wildlife.

In case, you are a romantic buff, then Catskills New Yorker's rite of passage. Located in the Appalachian Mountain range in southeastern New York, the Catskills offers romantic getaways in New York state.

A 150 mile drive from the city can land you here, the trip will run through beautiful mountain forest patches which have rich colors.

The Catskills are also filled with great places to eat as well.

Probably the Nearest Getaway is Beacon, it is located on the banks of the Hudson River and close to New York City. You can take the metro and reach the Beacon in about an hour and a half.
Beacon is all about Victorian architecture and small-town charm. Stop and grab one of the best short meals in the cafes.

Sitting on the banks of the Mohonk Lake is the Mohonk Mountain House in New Platz. It is just a few hours from the city and make up for a great weekend getaway from NYC during COVID times.

New Jersey shore beaches offer the best each destinations from NYC, Cape May being the best.
Dotted with Victorian houses and quaint bed and breakfasts, along with a pristine coastline, Cape May attracts families and couples alike.

This sleepy town of Hunter consists of two villages: Tannersville and Hunter. It is a northeast weekend getaway for people who love adventure sports and outdoors. It is just about a two-hour drive from NYC. Hunter offers skiing, ziplining, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

The best time to visit this place is in the fall and winters.

You can head out to enjoy the leaves and live music at Oktoberfest or go skiing at Hunter Mountain a popular ski resort that has been drawing families, who return year after year.

Sleepy Hollow!
Although the name still sounds haunted, but this town of Mount Pleasant is one of the premier weekend getaways for NYC people.

The tourist destination is just 90-minute drive from the city or hop on the light rail and arrives in about the same time.

Overnight in Harriman

Less than 2 hours from NYC is Harriman State Park. The second-largest state park in New York, making it the ideal location for a weekend away from the city. This is a quick video of what an overnight from Brooklyn to Harriman looks like. Below are the details of the trip.

Overview of the trip:
I left Greenpoint Brooklyn on the MTA to Penn Station. From Penn, I took NJ transit to Secaucus Junction. From Secaucus, I used the Port Jervis line to get to the Harriman stop where a short walk takes you to Harriman State Park & the Sapphire Trail. From there I headed south till I hit the AT. Taking the AT Northbound before getting off and onto the Rampo-Dunderberg Trail South to Bald Rocks. Bald Rocks is a solid campsite complete with a lean-to shelter. The next day I followed the Rampo-Dunderberg Trail South till exiting in Tuxedo Park where they have another NJ transit train station.

Driving from Arverne, New York to Harriman State Park - 5K Amazing Scenic Roads of USA

In this scenic drive video, we are driving from Arverne to Harriman State Park. Our iron horse Nissan Rogue SV 2018 covered 57.4 miles along the Palisades Interstate Pkwy N and gave us the possibility to enjoy a ride along the Hudson River. At the beginning of the golden autumn, the trip pleased with the change in the color of the vegetation along the entire length of our journey.

Video from: NY state, USA
Video title: Discovering NY State Arverne NY to Harriman State Park
Time of filming: October 2. 2021
Equipment used: Sony 7S3
Video type: #scenic #drive video
Video resolution: #5K

We are starting our journey from Arverne NY and heading towards Harriman State Park. During our trip, we enjoyed the fascinating views. Despite the autumn days on the calendar, the weather pleased us with warm sun and clear sky, which only added to our joy. We were so captivated by this trip and the opportunity to explore the state of NY in this way that we decided to share it with you in a 5K scenic drive video!

Let's tell you a little about Arvern. The famous beach village on the Rockaway boardwalk, named after its creator, pleases tourists and permanent residents with beach bungalows, hotels with different pricing policies, and a lot of entertainment. And although natural disasters and lack of budgetary funds throughout the history of the area have often left ruins from the New York summer waterfront, by 2018 it has regained a residential and beautiful appearance.

Now let's talk a little about the endpoint of our trip. Harriman State Park is the second-largest park area in New York State. An interesting fact is that the creation of this park can be thanked to Mary Harriman, who allocated a huge plot of land and more than $ 1 million in memory of her husband. It is interesting to realize that Arverne, from which our journey began, was also created thanks to the suffering of the founder`s second half.

Join us and discover scenic roads from all over the world from the car window. And it is more pleasurable to drive with nice music in the background!

Wildlife & Adventures in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem : Harriman State Park Idaho 4K

I have decided that adventures in Idaho are the the true hidden gem for anyone who loves exploring!

Resting inside the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem & known for its beautiful scenery and amazing wildlife.. Harriman State Park ranked high on our list of places to visit while road tripping through Idaho!

Mom and I took off to spend several nights in one of the really cool yurts available at the park. We hiked for miles around the park, soaking its amazing scenery, checking out wonderful wildlife, and enjoying everything the park has to offer.

Only 38 miles from the West entrance of Yellowstone, we reserved a day to scope out the “Great Geyser Basin” in the National Park as well.

Our final day was a real highlight! We set out early in the morning with the “Dry Ridge Outfitters”, for a horseback riding experience tracking Elk herds during their rutting season!

Harriman State Park is a true hidden gem with so much to offer. From hiking, too biking, wildlife watching (including incredible great horned owls), and horseback rides.
If you haven’t been here yet, make sure you add it to your list!

HIKING To Tom Jones Shelter In HARRIMAN State Park, New York

On Labor Day weekend, 2021 my friends and I hiked to Tom Jones shelter from Tuxedo rail road station. This hike is about 8 miles RT and is slightly on the difficult side but only just. I generally hike solo in Harriman State Park but was glad to have some company on this fine day in early September.

We took a longish break relishing all the food we brought along with us and entertained each other with stories from our previous hike. Bhargav's adventure to Halfdome in Yosemite National Park almost turned into a misadventure as he was slightly under prepared for that hike. Nonetheless it was interesting to hear about his experience.

All Trails

Experience this 8.60 mile, out and back trail near Tuxedo Park, New York. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 4 h 31 min to complete. This trail is great for camping, hiking, and trail running, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring.

Harriman State Park is the second largest state park in New York State.[2] Located in Rockland and Orange counties 30 miles (48 km) north of New York City, it is a haven for hikers with over 200 miles (320 km) of hiking trails. The park is also known for its 31 lakes, multiple streams, public camping area, and great vistas. The park's hiking trails are currently maintained by volunteers from the New York - New Jersey Trail Conference.

On its northeastern edge, Harriman State Park borders the 5,000-acre (20 km2) Bear Mountain State Park as well as the United States Military Academy's 16,000-acre (65 km2) forest reserve. To the southwest, it partly borders the state-owned 18,000-acre (73 km2) Sterling Forest reserve. These areas, together with the state's Storm King forest reserve of 1,900 acres (7.7 km2), amount to contiguous protected forests that are substantially larger than Harriman alone.
