Gwadar is situated on the southwestern Arabian Sea coast of Pakistan in Gwadar District of Balochistan province. Like Ormara further east, Gwadar is situated on a natural hammerhead-shaped tombolo peninsula forming two almost perfect, but naturally curved, semicircular bays on either side. The city is situated on a narrow and sandy 12 km-long (7 mi) isthmus which connects the Pakistani coast to rocky outcroppings in the Arabian sea known as the Gwadar Promontory, or Koh-e-Batil, which reach an elevation of 150 m (480 ft) and extend 11 km (7 mi) east to west with a breadth of 1.5 km (1 mi). The 240 m (800 ft) wide isthmus upon which Gwadar is located separates the two almost perfect semicircular bays from one another. The western bay is known as the Paddi Zirr, and is generally shallow with an average depth of 3.7 m (12 ft), and a maximum depth of 9.1 m (30 ft). To the east of the isthmus is the deepwater Demi Zirr harbor, where the Gwadar Port was built.
The area north of the city and Gwadar Promentory is flat and generally barren. The white clay Koh-e-Mehdi (also known as Jabal-e-Mehdi) is a notable exception, and rises sharply from the plans to the northeast of Gwadar. The Koh-e-Mehdi features a two discernible peaks, with heights of 415 and 419 m (1,360 and 1,375 ft), and is approximately 6 km (4 mi) wide and features sharp cliffs that drop precipitously into the Arabian Sea.[28] Following an earthquake in September 2013 a small island called Zalzala Jazeera (Earthquake Island) formed approximately 2 km (1.2 mi) off the coast

Gwadar is a port metropolitan with the title capital of South Balochistan, located on the southwestern coast of Balochistan, Pakistan. The city is located on the shores of the Arabian Sea opposite Oman. Gwadar is the 100th largest city of Pakistan, according to a 2017 census. It was an overseas possession of Oman from 1783 to 1958 It is about 120 km (75 mi) southwest of Turbat, while the sister port city of Chabahar in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province is about 170 km (110 mi) to the west of Gwadar.Cpec Gwadar development .Gwadar international airport 2023 .
The main industrial concern is a fish-processing factory; salt is obtained by the evaporation of seawater. Gwadar became part of the sultanate of Muscat and Oman in 1797, and it was not until 1958 that the town and adjoining hinterland were exchanged from Oman to Pakistan.
For most of its history, Gwadar was a small to medium-sized settlement with an economy largely based on artisanal fishing. The strategic value of its location was first recognized in 1954 when it was identified as a suitable site for a deep water port by the United States Geological Survey at the request of Pakistan while the territory was still under Omani rule.[4] The area's potential to be a major deep water port remained untapped under successive Pakistani governments until 2001, when construction on the first phase of Gwadar Port was initiated. The first phase was inaugurated in 2007 at a total cost of $248 million. The port initially remained underutilized after construction for a variety of reasons, including lack of investment, security concerns, and the Government of Pakistan's failure to transfer land as promised to the port operator, Port of Singapore Authority.gwadar airport test flight .

In April 2015, Pakistan and China announced their intention to develop the $46 billion China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which in turn forms part of China's ambitious One Belt, One Road.Gwadar features heavily in CPEC, and is also envisaged to be the link between the One Belt, One Road and Maritime Silk Road project. $1.153 billion worth of infrastructure projects will be invested into the city as part of CPEC, with the aim of linking northern Pakistan and western China to the deep water seaport.[12] The city will also be the site of a floating liquefied natural gas facility that will be built as part of the larger $2.5 billion Gwadar-Nawabshah segment of the Iran–Pakistan gas pipeline project. In addition to investments directly under the aegis of CPEC in Gwadar city, the China Overseas Port Holding Company in June 2016 began construction on the $2 billion Gwadar Special Economic Zone, which is being modelled on the lines of the special economic zones of China. Gwadar 5 Must Visit Places | Gwadar Beach Balochistan | History of Gwadar City | Gwadar Stadium
This is a video about Gwadar which is one of those cities which now has become a favorite tourist destination. It is included in the wish list of tourists as well. I spent two days here during my visit. It is now the main hub of CPEC. The city of Gwadar also depicts the reality of Balochistan.
In this video, I have shared five of the best places in Gwadar which anyone should visit during his stay in the city. These places include Gwadar Beach Library, Gwadar Cricket Stadium, Karemuk Hotel, Oman Fort, and the sunset of Gwadar.
Gwadar Beach Library is the only beach library in Pakistan. There are two such types of libraries globally, and one of them is in Gwadar. There are about 2000 books in this library.
10 to 11 people can read books here at a time. A weekly study circle is organized here regularly. If you ever visit Gwadar, do come to this library.
In recent days Gwadar Cricket Stadium has got international fame. After its construction, this stadium has earned national and international attention of media only two months after its construction. The real beauty of this stadium is the mountains that surround it.
While sharing pictures of this stadium, ESPN and ICC wrote: is there a more picturesque stadium than the Gwadar cricket stadium? The locals and district administration of Gwadar have played an essential role in bringing this stadium into such shape. The maintenance of this stadium is under the control of the Pakistan Army.
The karemuk hotel in the shahi Bazar of Gwadar is essential for fishers. Karemuk hotel is one of the memories of Oman and the identity of old Gwadar. It was once a bakery whose Arab owner sold it to a local. People spend their time here while telling stories to others.
Throughout the year there is no holiday in this hotel. Next to karemuk hotel is the famous Khuda Baksh halwai. People purchase sweets from Khuda Baksh halwai and visit the karemuk hotel for tea. This is the ancestral area of chairman hashwani group Sadar Uddin Hashwani.
Oman government constructed three forts in Gwadar, and this castle was converted into a museum in 2007. This fort is in the center of Gwadar. There are many items of Omani time in this museum. The items made from peesh trees are also part of this museum. A beautiful mosque is also a part of this fort.
If you visit Gwadar beach library, do not come without watching the sunset view. After the sunset of jiwani, the sunset of Gwadar is breathtaking. If you ever visit Gwadar, the sunset should be on your must-do list.
These are the five places of Gwadar that I recommend everyone to visit during their journey to Gwadar. I came here during my bike tour to Pakistan.

The N-10 or National Highway is a 653 km national highway in Pakistan which extends along Pakistan's Arabian Sea coast from Karachi in Sindh province to Gwadar in Balochistan province. It passes the towns of Ormara and Pasni.Prior to the construction of the Makran Coastal Highway in 2004, the port city of Karachi was linked to the port town of Gwadar via an uncarpeted jeep or dirt track. The journey between Karachi and Gwadar used to take at least two days and took a heavy toll on the wear and tear of vehicles. It was considered preferable to take the safer but longer route via Quetta.
After completion of the Makran Coastal Highway, the average journey time between Karachi and Gwadar has been reduced to only 6 to 7 hours and transportation costs have also been reduced.

Gwadar is a deep sea port and strategically important city in the world due to CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor). This region was the part of Oman and added into Balochistan Province in 1958 when Former Prime Minister of Pakistan purchased this from Oman in $3M. Gwadar district is the part of Makran division and comprise of 3 Tehsils: Tehsil Jiwani, Tehsil Gwadar and Tehsil Pasni.
If we talk about some famous places of Gwadar then you will find out a lot of tourist attractions in Gwadar Port City enlisted below:
1. Hammerhead is the most unique and famous part of Gwadar where Koh-E-Batil is the highest point.
2. Gwadar Cricket Stadium is also very beautiful with greenery and scenic surroundings.
3. Shahi Bazaar Gwadar is the most visiting place of Gwadar where you can find historic buildings, shops and Shahi Fort as well. Karimu Tea and Gwadar Halwa Shop is very famous spots there.
4. Hingol National Park on Makran Coastal Highway having the famous Statue of Princes of Hope. This name was given by Hollywood Actress Angelina Julie in 2002. The phynx statue is also very famous due to its resemblance with Ancient Structure of Egypt Abu al Hol.
5. Gwadar Beach, Kund Malir Beach, Gwadar Jetty, Kallag Beach, and Golden Sand beach are some famous beaches of Gwadar.
Apart from above tourist attractions, the Gwadar Fish Harbor, Gwadar Airport, Baba Chandragup Mud Volcano, Astola Island, Zalzla Koh Island, and Daran Beach are some of the best tourist spots in Gwadar.
