Guben (niedersorbisch und polnisch: Gubin; 1961 bis 1990 Wilhelm-Pieck-Stadt Guben) ist eine Stadt in der brandenburgischen Niederlausitz. Aufgrund der im Potsdamer Abkommen an Oder und Lausitzer Neiße festgelegten deutsch-polnischen Grenze wurde 1945 der östlich der Neiße gelegene Teil der Stadt einschließlich des historischen Zentrums zur polnischen Stadt Gubin. Heute wachsen beide Städte wieder immer mehr zusammen.
Mit Cottbus und Forst (Lausitz) gehörte Guben zum historischen „Textildreieck der Niederlausitz. Das Stadt- und Industriemuseum in der umgebauten Wilkeschen Hutfabrik präsentiert auf 450qm die Geschichte der Gubener Hut- und Tuchindustrie.
Zu den imposantesten Bauwerken in Gubin gehört zweifellos die Ruine der Gubener Stadt- und Hauptkirche. Am Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges wurde die Kirche durch Kampfhandlungen sehr schwer beschädigt. In den 70er Jahren sicherte man das 60 Meter lange und 30 Meter hohe Bauwerk als Dauerruine und zugleich als Mahnmal gegen Krieg und Zerstörung. Heute bemühen sich eine auf polnischer Seite gegründete Stiftung und ein deutscher Förderverein für den Wiederaufbau der Kirche.

Wenn man schon mal da ist kann man auch mal rüber nach Gubin gehen.
Sehr weit war ich nicht drin gewesen, eigentlich nur eine kleine runde in Grenznähe.
An der alten Kirchruine vorbei und dann wieder zurück zur Neißeinsel.

Vlog 744: Auf vielfachen Wunsch geht es heute zum ersten Mal nach Polen. Statt des erwarteten Pesa 218M kam ein in Deutschland bekanntes Fahrzeug zum Einsatz, ein Pesa Link. Wir fahren auf der erst kürzlich wiedereröffneten Bahnstrecke von Guben nach Gubin und weiter nach Zielona Gora.

Die Stadt liegt an der Neiße, die hier die Grenze zwischen #Deutschland und #Polen bildet. Die östlich der Neiße gelegene Kernstadt wurde 1945 durch die Oder-Neiße-Grenzziehung abgetrennt, von der Sowjetunion unter die Verwaltung der Volksrepublik Polen gestellt und bildet seitdem die eigenständige Stadt Gubin in der polnischen Woiwodschaft Lebus.

Die Stadt Görlitz ist die östlichste Stadt Deutschlands und die Größte in der Oberlausitz.
Görlitz liegt an der Neiße, die seit 1945 die Grenze zu Polen bildet.
Seit 1998 gibt es eine Bindung mit Zgorzelec und damit eine Europastadt.
Görlitz blieb im Zweiten Weltkrieg von Zerstörungen fast völlig verschont. Auch profitierte die Stadt davon, das in der ehemaligen DDR keine Mittel für den Abriss alter Häuser bereit standen.
So konnten nicht nur die historische Altstadt, sondern auch über 4000 Häuser der Stadt Görlitz sehenswert restauriert werden.
Dieses einzigartige Stadtbild machte Görlitz zu einem beliebten Filmdrehstandort, weshalb es auch „Görliwood“ genannt wird.

Hiking in Starnberg, Germany (2022 Episode 10)
We went on our first hike since moving to Germany! This hike was in the town of Starnberg. It was a nice and easy hike through marshes, the forest, country side, and (apparently) it also went through the city. We researched the hike before going, but none of the pictures showed that 2-3 miles of the 9.5 mile hike was through the city. Also, none of the reviews online mentioned that parts of the trail were closed so that you had to take a lot of little detours. It appeared that the areas were closed because of protected species of animals and plants that were located there. We probably ended up running into 7 or 8 dead ends. We ended up not hiking the full 9.5 miles because of the detours, but we still ended up hiking the majority of it (something like 8 miles in total).

My great journey to Germany to visit Christopher in Senftenberg nearby Cottbus in March on the 17-19th,went there by Christophers's car,we also took two bicycles and put them into the car.Our route from Poland was through Żary,Olszyna,Cottbus to Senftenberg.On the way we stopped at the viewing platform nearby Cottbus to see countryside.We reached Senftenberg in the afternoon so we could biking that day through the town centre to admire this place where Christopher lives.We also visited Christopher's High School in Senftenberg late evening.
Next day we went around the local lake,along beautiful bike trails,the route was over 20 km long!Fine sunny weather and a lot of fun biking together!I returned to Poland another way through Spremberg,Forst and Guben!Total 23 interesting clips of my German journey,very long series,23 clips(1-4 part driving to Senftenberg,5-9 part biking in Senftenberg and showing the town,10-19 part bike trip over 20km,20-23 part driving back to Zielona Góra) hope you will enjoy my foreign travel!Amnas2011

Moja wspaniała podróż do Niemiec na zaproszenie Krzysztofa do miejscowości Senftenberg w pobliżu Cottbus od 17-go do 19-go marca.Pojechaliśmy z Zielonej Góry Krzyśka samochodem i zabraliśmy ze sobą dwa rowery.Trasa z Polski wiodła przez Żary,Olszynę (granica),Cottbus.W pobliżu Cottbus zatrzymaliśmy się przy platformie widokowej,gdzie podziwialiśmy miejscowy krajobraz,następnie późnym popołudniem dotarliśmy do Seftenbergu.Zdążyliśmy jeszcze w tym samym dniu objechać rowerami całe miasto,centrum jak również udało mi się zwiedzić Krzysia uczelnię w Senftenbergu!Następnego dnia przy pięknej słonecznej pogodzie objechaliśmy rowerami całe miejscowe jezioro,trasa liczyła ponad 20 km.Wszędzie fantastyczne ścieżki rowerowe,czego u nas w Polsce brak!Moja droga powrotna do Polski inną trasą przez Spremberg,Forst i Guben,zapraszam na 23 odcinki ( odcinek 1-4 podróż do Senftenbergu samochodem,odcinek 5-9 zwiedzanie rowerem miasta,odcinek 10-19 wycieczka rowerowa wokół miejscowego jeziora ponad 20 km,odcinek 20-23 powrót do Polski samochodem).
