Knapp 2000 Kilometer misst die Küstenlinie der Bretagne. Auf ihrem Weg rund um die westlichste Region Frankreichs nimmt sie jede Bucht, jeden Strand und jeden Hafen mit. Einmal die komplette Küste entlang reisen, war schon immer mein großer Traum. Da ich kein halbes Jahr Zeit für eine Wanderung auf dem GR34 – dem Küstenwanderweg – habe, nehme ich einen Mietwagen und fahre die versteckten Perlen der Küste ab. Immer auf der Suche nach den besten Naturhighlights.
Dieser Bretagne Roadtrip führt von Saint-Malo nach Guérande – von Nordost nach Südost, die gesamte Küste entlang. Unterwegs jagt ein Naturhighlight das nächste. Mit dem Fahrrad geht es durch Küstendörfer und verlassene Wälder, auf dem Kajak über Flüsse und zu Fuß auf einem der beeindruckendsten Wanderwege Europas entlang.
Zwischendurch geht es mal unter das Wasser beim Tauchen oder mit der Kraft des Windes beim Windsurfen übers Wasser. Diese Reise verspricht viele Aktivitäten, kleine Abenteuer und ist genau das Richtige für junge Aktivreisende.

Guérande is a medieval town located in the département of Loire-Atlantique in western France. The inhabitants are referred to as Guérandais, for men, and Guérandaise, for women.
The Guérande Peninsula overlooks two contrasting landscapes: the Pays Blanc (White Land), because of its salt marshes, and the Pays Noir, with the Brière peat bog.
The fortified wall of Guérande is one of the best preserved and complete in France. Its circumference stretches 1434 meters.

Life in a Medieval Fortified Fortress of France | Guérande | Pays de la Loire
Charming medieval city, Guérande takes place in the heart of the Pays de la Loire, in the department of Loire-Atlantique. Surrounded by salt marshes that have made its reputation, the town is located about fifteen kilometers from Saint-Nazaire, not far from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. This beautiful city of Loire-Atlantique seduced by its ancient architecture, as much as for its attachment to cultural traditions.
Guérande will make you travel in the time of the knights and Queen Anne of Brittany. You will love losing yourself in its flowery streets and admire its centenary facades. ☀ I had a fantastic visiting at Guérande, an ancient walled city near La Baule. Medieval wall and castle are kept up wonderfully.
A step back into time but with some modernization. People are still living within these walls, this is amazing. The town inside has kept its charm and there are some stores inside to explain about its salt industry around the town of Guérande. You can spend an hour or so to walk along pedestrian streets in the medieval village center of Guérande. Buildings are well maintained in old time style, with a lot of small shops selling local products.
☀ Small well preserved walled city. It is possible to walk or cycle all-round the exterior of the walls on wide shared paths. Inside the walls are many small streets to explore, the main streets are full of variety of shops
Don't forget to pick up some products of salt, Sel de Guérande is offered everywhere but that's what the town best-known for, the capital of the salt business, it still specializes in salt, taken from the salt marshes surrounding it, and you may pay 4 more times if you buy it at other areas.

Avec ses solides remparts, Guérande s’apparente à une « Carcassonne de l’ouest ». Mais derrière la ceinture de pierre, les toits d’ardoise des logis anciens confirment que cette Ville d’art et d’histoire est bien celte. Sa belle opulence provient des marais salants, lieu magique et étincelant.
Avec ses 1300 mètres de remparts, ses 4 portes et ses 6 tours, l'enceinte urbaine de Guérande est aujourd'hui l'une des mieux conservées de France et la plus complète de Bretagne.

Who are we? ????
We are Nikki and Gert, a couple from Belgium, in our early 30's.
Last couple of years, we traveled together through parts of #Europe, often going on camping trips with our tent and car.
We started following van lifers and #digitalnomads on social media to get some inspiration. It was then, when we realized that building and owning a camper van was in our grasp, and you didn't need a pile of money to do it.
