Papua New Guinea & Solomon Islands Travel Guide

Papua New Guinea is an island nation in Oceania. A country of immense cultural and biological diversity, it’s known for its beaches and coral reefs. Inland are active volcanoes, granite Mt. Wilhelm, dense rain forest and hiking routes like the Kokoda Trail. There are also traditional tribal villages, many with their own languages.

Papua New Guinea is just to the south of the equator and has a tropical climate. In the highlands, though, temperatures are distinctly cool. The (very) wet season runs from about December to March. The best months for trekking are June to September.

THE KOKODA TRAIL: Eight Day Jungle Trek in Papua New Guinea

This video is about the 8-day trek I did in Papua New Guinea along the Kokoda Track (Kokoda Trail). This trail retraces the steps and the battles of soldiers during WWII when Japan, Australia, and the allies battled it out in one of the harshest environments in the world. We camped in tents and huts as we navigated our way along with the 6000m of incline on this historic journey. The video was filmed on Gopro 7 and DJI Mavic 2 (full gear list below).

Welcome to Papua New Guinea

Welcome to Papua New Guinea... where A Million Different Journeys await you, ranging from trekking, diving to bird watching, surfing, cultural tours and more! Papua New Guinea (PNG) is the secret of the South Pacific - a destination rich with natural and adventure-based attractions.

For more information, visit:

Living in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

A rough compilation of clips taken by me over a period of two months in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Before I traveled to PNG from the USA, I searched YouTube for anything I could watch about contemporary life in Papua New Guinea, and I noticed there wasn't a whole lot of content available. This video isn't professional, but maybe it'll give you a small insight of what to expect in Port Moresby. Or simply satisfy your curiosity!

Music: @GaryHarju

World's largest collection of PNG Bilums in Goroka Town.

A Bilum is a traditional woven bag from Papua New Guinea, it can be made from wool, acrylic or traditional bush materials.
There are thousands of different designs with each region having its own unique style of BIlum, they are woven traditionally by mothers.
It carries a lot of cultural significance in Papua New Guinea and is often used in traditional ceremonies like bride prices or peace ceremonies.

Papua New Guinea - Goroka Sing-Sing #6 - Travel Video

Video 6
I spent 3 weeks in Papua New Guinea in August 1986. The Highlight of the trip was the Sing-Sing in Goroka. The government brings together about 700 tribes every 2 years to promote peace among the tribes. Most of the tribes have their own language, to unify the nation they are promoting a common language called Tok Pisin or Pidgin English. The Sing-Sing was an assault on my senses, the colorful costumes, constant drum beats, 700 groups singing at once, the anticipation of violent outbreaks, it was the most exciting time of my life.
