Madhugiri Fort Trekking | Madhugiri betta Scary Trek in Bangalore

Madhugiri Fort or Madhugiri Betta trekking is one of the adventurous trekking in Bangalore, Karnataka.
Madhugiri Betta is the Second Largest Monolith in Asia. Madhugiri fort trekking is little technical and steeper than most of the treks around Bangalore. Initial part of the trek was easy as there are steps to almost half of the way. Later the trek will become steeper. The second part of the trek was really steep and challenging. Iron rods and side pillars are provided for support. At some points the handle bars are damaged and ropes are tied on both ends for support. This part of the trekking will be little scary. We had to walk horizontally across a steeply inclined rock. You should be more careful if there was drizzling on previous day night as there is chance for slippery rocks. The defensive wall of the fort was hiding the last hill to the top of Madhugiri, where the granaries and temples are situated. There were no railings and no steps carved out in the final part of the trek. Walking on steep rocks without support is not that difficult. On top of the madhugiri hill, there are old buildings which are room for the soldiers. There is a temple dedicated to lord Gopalakrishna. Both the temple and the fort stand in a ruined condition today due to the poor maintenance of the area.

Best Time to Visit Madhugiri: October to March
Distance from Bangalore: 100Km
Madhugiri Height : 3930ft (1200m)

Gundamagere Lake Doddaballapur Trip | Exploring Unexplored Places Karnataka

Date: 15.06.2019
Bike trip to Gundamagere Lake near Doddaballapura, Karnataka.
This place is not much famous but yet beautiful lake plus a hill view. You can also go for trekking here, if you are trek-lover. Lake water is clean and used by villagers

Ksrtc Bus Station Madhugiri | Madhugiri Explore | Tumakuru district

Madhugiri is a town in Tumkur district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The town derives its name from a hillock, Madhu-giri (honey-hill) which is to the south of the place. Madhugiri is one of the 34 educational districts of the Karnataka state

Madhugiri is a single hill. Nestled on its steep slopes is a fort. Antaralada Bagilu, Diddi Bagilu, and Mysuru Gate are the three gateways of the fort. A series of doorways leads to the hill. The ruined temple of Gopalakrishna is located at the top.

The construction of the original mud fort was undertaken by Raja Hire Gowda in the 17th century around 1670 AD. An interesting incident prompted the Gowda family to consider building a fortress. A stray sheep went missing around the Madhugiri hillock only to return late in the night dripping with water. This was music to the ears since a spring would definitely be welcome sign for rain deficient area. A decision to construct a fortress was arrived and the task was completed. The Gowdas started ruling this region based at Madhugiri Fort.

Genesis of the name Madhugiri is derived from the Honeybee colonies which were prevalent in those days towards the northern parts of the Madhugiri fortress. There are several historical temples in and around Madhugiri. However three of them are the main ones that draw regular devotees, one is Sri Venkatramana Swamy then Sri Malleswara Swamy both are situated next to each other. the third one is the Dandina Maramma temple at the entrance of the town while coming from Bangalore/Tumkur. There is also a Jaina temple on the precincts of the Madhugiri fort.

Madhugiri, once known as Maddagiri over a hundred years ago, is located around 43 km north of Tumkuru town, and 107 km north-west of Bengaluru city. The monolith and the surrounding greenery of Madhugiri are the main attractions. The place has old temples of Venkataramanaswami and Malleshwara built by the Vijayanagara feudatories in the Dravidian style.

The highlight is the rock dome, atop which stands a fort. There are a series of doorways leading to the top and the climb is steep and exposed in some places. On the top is the ruined Gopalakrishna temple. [3] The difficulty level is moderate to difficult and take around 4 hours for the ascend

Madhugiri Fort Trek | Second Largest Monolithic Hill | A Day Trek around Bangalore |

Madhugiri Hill, located approximately 100 kms away from Bangalore in the Tumkur district of Karnataka, is the second largest monolith in Asia after Savandurga. It is famous for its Madhugiri Fort which is quite popular among trekkers. The ruins of Madhugiri Fort lie atop the steep hill of height 3950 ft, approximately and is quite an adventurous trek. The trek up Madhugiri Fort sets itself apart owing to a myriad of reasons, the most obvious of which being the fairly challenging climb up to the peak and the intricate architecture adorning the ancient fort that follows you all throughout the trail. The trek will take you through a plethora of historical structures; half-ruined and through three walls of defense or gateways, before you reach the topmost fort, unveiling extraordinary views of the town; the forest; a few small lakes and the surrounding hillocks.

Watch my BMTC bus journey from Bengaluru (Majestic) To Doddaballapur Bus Stand in BMTC'S Vajra . The fare from Majestic To Doddaballapur Bus Stand is ₹50 . This bus departs Majestic at 4:40 pm and reached Doddaballapur Bus Stand by 6:10 pm . However BMTC is one of the best means of transport in Bengaluru as they are fast , affordable and reduces a lot of traffic . However our bus was empty as there was another which had departed with full rush . I could get a front seat as there are no reserved seats in Vajra you can sit wherever you want to . I luckily got the bus when this had come to the platform . There were a very few passengers to Doddaballapur as there were most of them going to Hebbal , Yelahanka NES . This bus offers a AC facility , good quality of seats , and silent travel . There are frequent Vajra buses to Doddaballapur with a frequency of 10 - 15 mins . There are numerous buses from Bengaluru many places such as the buses depart from Cauvery Bhavan , KR Market , Yelahanka NES , Kempegowda Bus Station . There was a lot of traffic jam from Guttahalli To Hebbal as most of the offices let off at that time . There is always traffic jam at Hebbala Flyover as it is always crowded and it is a major junction in Bengaluru . Due to the traffic we had started cruising after Jakkur Aerodrome . There is one toll to be passed while travelling to Doddaballapur . However the toll ticket will also be included in the ticket itself if you are travelling to Doddaballapur .
