Porto District is located in Northern Portugal. It consists of 18 municipalities with almost 2 million inhabitants. In the West, it is washed by the Atlantic Ocean, which sets the general climate in the area.
Capital
The administrative center of the district is the city of the same name, Porto.
Nature
The area is not heavily populated, so the nature here is special. The area is quite hilly, so there are plenty of beautiful places framed by greenery. Small forests, through which small rivers make their way, are distinguished by the transparency of the water, so outdoor activities filled with beautiful landscapes are guaranteed in the area.
Main cities: Porto, Matosinhos, Gondomar, Valongu
Porto is located at the mouth of the Douro River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The city is famous for its gastronomy; the best restaurants in Portugal are located here. First of all, you should definitely go on a tour of the Duro River Valley, which is rich in vineyards. If you are planning a trip on your own, it is better to book a wine tasting in advance, because Portugal produces some of the best wines of the Old World.
