map of North West England

North West England is one of the best and most popular of nine official regions of England and consists of the administrative counties of #1 ranked Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside. The North West had a population of 7,052,000 in 2011. It is the third-most-populated region in the United Kingdom, after the South East and Greater London. The largest settlements are Manchester and Liverpool. North West England is bounded to the east by the Pennines and to the west by the Irish Sea. The region extends from the Scottish Borders in the north to the West Midlands region in the south. To its southwest is North Wales. Amongst the better known of the North West's physiographical features are the Lake District and the Cheshire Plain. The highest point in North West England (and the highest peak in England) is Scafell Pike, Cumbria, at a height of 3,209 feet (978 m).

Windermere is the largest natural lake in England, while Broad Crag Tarn on Broad Crag is England's highest lake. Wast Water is England's deepest lake, being 74 metres deep.

A mix of rural and urban landscape, two large conurbations, centred on Liverpool and Manchester, occupy much of the south of the region. The north of the region, comprising Cumbria and northern Lancashire, is largely rural, as is the far south which encompasses parts of the Cheshire Plain and Peak District.

The region includes parts of three National parks (all of the Lake District, and small parts of the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales) and three areas of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (all of Arnside and Silverdale and the Solway Coast, and almost all of the Forest of Bowland The North West is generally regarded as having the most average weather in the UK. Temperatures are generally close to the national average. Cumbria usually experiences the most severe weather, with high precipitation in the mountainous regions of the Lake District and Pennines. In winter, the most severe weather occurs in the more exposed and elevated areas of the North West, once again mainly the Lake District and Pennine areas.

Parts of the North West experienced a White Christmas in 2009, and again in 2010, where sleet and snow fell on December 25.

The A635 was closed for almost a month in January 2010 due to high amounts of snowfall.

Places to see in ( Warrington - UK )

Places to see in ( Warrington - UK )

Warrington is a large town and unitary authority area in Cheshire, England, on the banks of the River Mersey, 20 miles east of Liverpool, and 20 miles west of Manchester. Warrington is the largest town in the county of Cheshire.

Warrington was founded by the Romans at an important crossing place on the River Mersey. A new settlement was established by the Saxons. By the Middle Ages, Warrington had emerged as a market town at the lowest bridging point of the river. A local tradition of textile and tool production dates from this time.

Historically in Lancashire, the expansion and urbanisation of Warrington coincided with the Industrial Revolution, particularly after the Mersey was made navigable in the 18th century. The West Coast Main Line runs north to south through the town, and the Liverpool to Manchester railway (the Cheshire Lines route) west to east. The Manchester Ship Canal cuts through the south of the borough (west to east). The M6, M56 and M62 motorways form a partial box around the town.

The modern Borough of Warrington was formed in 1974 with the amalgamation of the former County Borough of Warrington, part of the Golborne Urban District, the Lymm Urban District, part of the Runcorn Rural District, the Warrington Rural District and part of the Whiston Rural District.

The Borough of Warrington is bordered by Halton, Cheshire West and Chester, and Cheshire East boroughs in the Ceremonial County of Cheshire and by the metropolitan boroughs of Trafford, Salford and Wigan in Greater Manchester and St. Helens in Merseyside. Warrington Borough Transport, trading as Network Warrington, one of the few municipal bus companies to survive in public ownership, runs most bus services within the town.

???????? Portebello Road Market & Notting Hill Area | 4K London

Busy Notting Hill area next to Ladbroke Grove, Portobello Road Market, and Trellick Tower.
These residential areas are very well-maintained. On weekends, you can spot interesting people :D
In the Market, You can choose from the various food stalls (African, Middle Eastern, Greek, Asian, South American, etc.) and merchandise from around the world.
Usually, there are many street arts in different parts of London, for example, the Trellick Tower 'Hall of Fame' (it is still going on in the video). Despite the previous bad reputation, the Tower has gained a lot of reputation and become a less known London icon. The building appears in many films like Shopping (1994), London Kills Me (1991), Never Let Me Go (2010), and Paddington (2014).

Notting Hill's world-famous antique market: Portobello Market walking tour [London in 4K]

Since the 1940s, London's Portobello Market has become renowned across the world for its eclectic collection of antique stalls and second-hand goods, and, in recent years, a hotspot for food and fashion. Portobello Road is also the home of The Travel Bookshop, the store run by Hugh Grant's character in the film Notting Hill. Or, at least, the shop used to film it (at 38:22).

It's a great day out and not far off the beaten track - just a few minutes from Ladbroke Grove station (where this walk starts) as well as Notting Hill Gate and Westbourne Park stations. This was filmed on a Friday in Autumn; Saturday is the main market day for antiques and when all the arcades are open. You can read more about the market - including how to get there - here:
