Shepard State Park, Gautier, Mississippi
Had a nice little stay at the Shepard State Park, in Gautier, Mississippi. A small campground located on the Singing River as Legend would say. Good location if you want to visit all the Casinos in Biloxi about 20 minutes away. We tried out the all you can eat Seafood Buffett including Crawfish which is now in season and Dugeneous Crab at the Treasure Bay Casino. Gautier and Biloxi Mississippi | Alligator Hunting
We are having a blast traveling I-10 along the Gulf Coast. Our stay this week was at Shepard State Park in Gautier, Mississippi. (Pronounced Go-shay). Shepard State Park had several trail for us to explore, which we did. The town of Pascagoula was fun to explore. We didn’t get to tour the light house, but we’re okay with that. A park was built under a bridge/overpass. What a great use of space!
While on the Gulf Coast, we made sure to try some seafood! Snapper’s Seafood Restaurant was a great choice for us. We ordered some shrimp gumbo for both of us to try. DeWitt loved it, Debbie not so much. But she tried it! For our meal, we shared a crab cake po’boy and a seafood wrap with shrimp, crab and fish. They were both very good!
We toured the Biloxi Visitor’s Center as well as the lighthouse park next to it. We walked over the Biloxi Bay Bridge, which was almost 2 miles one way. We explored the areas around the base of bridge, too. It gave us a total of over four miles that day.

RooVentures: Episode 2-06 - Big Fun On The Bayou! Shepard State Park Campground in Gautier, MS
Today I arrive in Mississippi! You'll drive with me along the Gulf coast - through a tunnel under the Gulf of Mexico in Mobile, AL - and into the Magnolia State! I spent my first night at a Secret RV Parking Loop at the Mississippi Welcome Center on I-10. This is the first time I've ever encountered a special parking loop just for RVs that is separate from the commercial truck parking lot. It's a great, safe, comfortable, and free place to park for the night. The nicely landscaped loop includes a walking path and garden, and has ample space - far enough off the highway to provide a quiet overnight stay.
Next, you'll enjoy a tour of the Best Campground on the Bayou - Shepard State Park in Gautier, MS. This is a 5-star campground if you're into nature and history! It's truly a gem on the Mississippi Bayou. A newly-build pier walk spans the coastal bayou over resident alligators and marshland fauna. This park is a haven for bird watchers and disc golf enthusiasts. There are even archery fields and a boat launch! This is the perfect setting to enjoy a few days near the Mississippi Delta, and is conveniently located within a short drive of Biloxi Beach and New Orleans!
