Blue Ridge Parkway Drive - 8 Things to Do and See!
The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 469 mile drive (or motorcycle ride) through the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina and Virginia. Known as America's Favorite Drive, there are numerous things to do and see, from easy access overlooks of sweeping vistas and mountains, hikes to waterfalls and summits, and various historic structures to visit and explore. After making our first video on the Blue Ridge Parkway (linked below), we received numerous emails and comments with suggestions on what else to do if we ever visited again. Well, we visited again, and in so doing, not only will we now show you 8 more things to do, but hope this video serves as our thank you to everyone who made those suggestions to us and everyone else out there who shares our love of the outdoors, especially America's treasures - the National Parks. LUMINOUS BEST VIEWING SPOTS
uminous can be enjoyed from almost anywhere around the lagoon, but closer views to the railing are preferred for the full effect of fountains and effects:
- Showcase Plaza: Offers a perfectly centered view. Arrive about an hour early to secure a spot. Note that parts of Spaceship Earth lighting up might not be visible from here.
- Entrance to World Showcase: Provides a straight-on view with less stress for claiming a spot. It's further back and partially obstructed by trees, but allows for a quick exit.
- Japan and The American Adventure Pavilion: Offers a great view for all fountain effects and Spaceship Earth lighting up. The second floor of Mitsukoshi Department Store in Japan is particularly good, but space is limited.
- Italy: The area jutting out into the lagoon and the bridge offer elevated views. Be aware of potential reservations for special events.
- Other Good Spots: La Cantina de San Angel in Mexico, between Mexico and Norway, the International Gateway Bridge, and between Canada and the U.K.
- Accessible Viewing Areas: Located in the U.K., between Italy and Germany, and on both sides of the central World Showcase Plaza. These fill up quickly on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Unconventional Spots: Certain pavilions like China offer less crowded views but are obstructed. World Celebration offers far-away views, and watching from the park entrance is not recommended due to obstructions.

Galax ,Virginia 4K (DJI Mavic Air 2 Drone Footage) Nestled in the Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains!!
Galax is an independent city in the southwestern part of the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 6,720.
The Bureau of Economic Analysis combines the city of Galax with neighboring Carroll County for statistical purposes. Galax is bounded to the northeast by Carroll County and to the southwest by Grayson County
The area that later became Galax was part of an 800-acre (320 ha) land grant given to James Buchanan in 1756 by the British Crown. The first plat map for Galax is dated December 1903; The town founders selected the site for the city on a wide expanse of meadowland bisected by Chestnut Creek and sitting at an altitude of 2,500 feet on a plateau. The Virginia General Assembly officially chartered the town of Galax in 1906.
The town is named for Galax urceolata, an evergreen groundcover plant found throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains. At the time, the plant was gathered and sold by many people in southwestern Virginia and northwestern North Carolina as an ornamental plant; a Norfolk and Western Railway Company official suggested that the town be named for the plant. The first Galax Agricultural Fair took place in September 1908, when Galax had 600 residents.
Located in the Appalachian region of the United States, Galax is known as a center of traditional old-time music and musicians, as is Round Peak, North Carolina near Mount Airy, some 15 miles away on the other side of the ridge. Galax and the surrounding region are also known for traditional instrument-making; A distinctive style of Appalachian dulcimer is named for Galax.
The annual Old Fiddler's Convention, held in Galax since 1935, is a popular old-time and bluegrass music festival.
The New River Trail State Park, a 57-mile state park following an abandoned railroad right-of-way, passes through the city of Galax and four nearby counties. The park is used by hikers, horseback riders, fishermen, canoeists, boaters, and cyclists, and features two tunnels, three major bridges, almost 30 smaller bridges and trestles, and a historic shot tower.
Located four miles east of Galax, in neighboring Carroll County, is the Crooked Creek Wildlife Management Area, which encompasses 1,796 acres (727 ha) of gently rolling mountains, both forested and open.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is about seven miles from Galax via South Main Street and Highway 89 with the picturesque Mabry Mill located at milepost 176.2 about thirty-five miles away. The Blue Ridge Music Center featuring a concert center, mountain music museum and visitor center is at milepost 213.
Grayson Highlands State Park noted for scenic views, trail hiking including the Appalachian Trail, Mount Rogers (the highest peak in Virginia) and wild mountain ponies is about forty miles to the west near the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area

Mount Airy is a city in Surry County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 10,611.
Mount Airy was settled in the 1750s as a stagecoach stop on the road between Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Galax, Virginia. It was named for a nearby plantation. Mount Airy was incorporated in 1885. The city's official seal was established in 1977, which depicts major industries that are home to Mount Airy including: furniture, textiles, and the granite quarry. In 1994, Mount Airy was named an All American City.
The W. F. Carter House, William Carter House, Edgar Harvey Hennis House, William Alfred Moore House, Mount Airy Historic District, North Carolina Granite Corporation Quarry Complex, Renfro Mill, and Trinity Episcopal Church are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
