Cabride de Sète à Avignon via le contournement TGV et Tarascon
Bonjour à tous,
Pour ce nouveau voyage en cabine, nous retournons dans le sud avec un train de messageries reliant Perpignan à Paris sur un trajet entre Sète et Avignon via le Contournement TGV de Nîmes-Montpellier puis la rive gauche du Rhône via Tarascon. Nous rentrerons dans le triage d'Avignon-Champfleury, des wagons devant être rajoutés afin de continuer le trajet vers Paris (Valenton) qui sera atteint en fin de nuit.
Petite surprise peu après Sète, nous croiserons l'acheminement d'une rame Frecciarossa 1000 en provenance de l'Italie pour l'Espagne.

For this new cabride, we return to the south with a courier train linking Perpignan to Paris on a route between Sète and Avignon via the TGV bypass of Nîmes-Montpellier then the left bank of the Rhône via Tarascon. We will enter the Avignon-Champfleury yard, wagons to be added to continue the journey to Paris (Valenton) which will be reached at the end of the night.
Little surprise shortly after Sète, we will come across the routing of a Frecciarossa 1000 train coming from Italy for Spain.

It had no problems getting up those mountains. Sometimes on very steep roads the maximum speed was 45 km, but it was still okay. Those aren't roads to speed on.
Most other motorcycles passed me. That's not only because my bike is slow, it's my choice to ride slow and enjoy the scenery.

Part 4A : Our Half A Day Visit to the French City of Nancy
28th of July 2018. After a much needed night's rest at Frouard on our ambitious long road-trip from London to Switzerland, prior to resuming for our destination, we decided to drop-by at the historical and indeed beautiful city of Nancy in France, located still on the northeastern part of the country. This would mark as our fourth part of our journey towards that Swiss holiday!
With my newly acquired video editing software, I have combined some of the older footage (that was posted in the past) with some never-before-seen clips wherein Papa Carl was able to render us a naughty Filipino song in relation to the name of the French city we are in.
Part 4B : Shuttle Train Tour of Nancy, France
28th of July 2018. From a long drive from London to mainland Europe, destination: Switzerland, it is only noteworthy to have a short break. So it was that we had an overnight stay in Frouard, which is just 10km from Nancy in France. And on the next day, prior to resuming our destination for Nendaz in Switzerland, we dedicated a brief tour of the historical old city centre of Nancy.
Here in the historical heart of the city of Nancy, Place Stanislas we took a shuttle train tour to better appreciate the city in a nutshell.

Driving Our Way to the Historical City Centre of Nancy, France (28th of July 2018)
28th of July 2018. Stop-over visit at the historical centre of the city of Nancy prior to resuming our long road-trip towards Switzerland. Driving all the way from the UK from the 27th with one night to rest at Nancy, France.
So the overnight hotel that we stayed in is located at Frouard just 10km north of Nancy near the confluence of the Moselle and Meurthe. It is from there we drove towards the city centre of Nancy where will have a brief visit.

28th of July 2018. On our way driving from London (one day stop-over at Nancy, France) towards Switzerland. Crossing along France... One of the most vital ways to keep ourselves entertained and keeping the designated driver as well wide-awake, is singing (or lip-syncing to be exact) our hearts out! Very reminiscent of Wayne's World when they did Bohemian Rhapsody on their roadtrip, this is our version. However do not focus on my ever-pouting lips or with Carl, but our scene stealer, the open-mouth Sleeping Beauty at the back at nearly the end of the video. Hehe!

Die Mosel (französisch Moselle, luxemburgisch Musel) ist mit 544 km Fließstrecke der zweitlängste Nebenfluss des Rheins. Der Fluss entspringt in Frankreich, in den Vogesen am Col de Bussang. In Lothringen fließt sie durch Remiremont und Épinal, im weiten Bogen um Nancy nach Metz und weiter nach Norden. Dann bildet sie die Grenze zwischen Luxemburg und Deutschland. Bald danach erreicht sie Trier. Das deutsche Moseltal wird geprägt vom stark mäandernden Verlauf mit vielen Weinbergen an teils sehr steilen Hängen. In Koblenz mündet die Mosel in den Mittelrhein.
The Moselle twists and turns its way between Trier and Koblenz along one of Germany's most beautiful river valleys. It flows through a region that has been influenced by mankind since it was first cultivated by the Romans. Today, its hillsides are covered by terraced vineyards where some of the best Rieslings grow, and numerous ruined castles dominate the hilltops above wine villages and towns that line the riverbanks. Traben-Trarbach with its art nouveau architecture and Bernkastel-Kues with its traditional market square are two of the many tourist attractions on the Moselle river. La Moselle prend sa source dans le massif des Vosges au col de Bussang et se jette dans le Rhin à Coblence en Allemagne. Sa longueur totale est de 560 kilomètres : 314 kilomètres en France, 39 faisant frontière entre le Luxembourg et l'Allemagne, et 208 exclusivement en Allemagne. Par ailleurs, c'est sur cette rivière qu'est situé le tripoint Allemagne-France-Luxembourg.
Une fontaine située à 731 mètres d'altitude (près du col de Bussang dans le département des Vosges) est présentée comme sa source officielle, mais la rivière se forme de la réunion de plusieurs ruisseaux dont certains sourdent à plus de 1 000 mètres, sur les pentes du Grand Drumont. De Moezel ontspringt bij de Col de Bussang in de Vogezen op 735 meter hoogte. Bij Remiremont voegt de Moselotte zich bij de Moezel. Nadat de rivier het gebergte verlaat, zijn er verschillende stuwen gebouwd op de Moezel. De Vologne is een andere belangrijke zijrivier in de bovenloop van de Moezel. De eerste grote stad waar de Moezel doorheen stroomt is Épinal, hoofdplaats van het Franse departement Vosges. Vanaf Épinal loopt het Canal de l'Est, die de stroombekkens van de Moezel, Maas en Saone verbindt. Bij Frouard voegt de belangrijkste zijrivier van de Moezel zich bij de rivier: de Meurthe ontspringt eveneens in de Vogezen en voert via Saint-Dié-des-Vosges en Nancy een belangrijk debiet aan (41,1 m³/s). Die Ruine der Stiftskirche liegt auf einer Halbinsel bei Bremm an der Mosel. Kloster Stuben (1137–1802) ist ein ehemaliges Augustiner-Chorfrauen-Stift in Bremm, Rheinland-Pfalz. Bernkastel-Kues liegt im Moseltal, zirka 50 Kilometer von Trier entfernt. Die höchste Erhebung ist der Olymp (415 m ü. NHN). Bernkastel-Kues ist eine verbandsangehörige Stadt an der Mittelmosel im Landkreis Bernkastel-Wittlich, Rheinland-Pfalz. Sie ist staatlich anerkanntes Heilbad, Sitz der Verbandsgemeinde Bernkastel-Kues sowie des Dienstleistungszentrums Ländlicher Raum Mosel (DLR Mosel) und Geburtsort des mittelalterlichen Kirchenmanns und Philosophen Nikolaus von Kues (Cusanus). Ediger-Eller liegt an der Untermosel. Der Ortsteil Eller befindet sich am Fuße von Europas steilstem Weinberg Calmont an der Mündung des gleichnamigen Ellerbaches, der den Calmont gemeinsam mit der Mosel fast völlig umschließt. In der Region liegt eine der ältesten römischen Städte Deutschlands, Trier (Augusta Treverorum), der älteste Weinort Deutschlands, Neumagen, mit dem römischen Neumagener Weinschiff sowie die älteste Mühle nördlich der Alpen, die Karlsmühle römischen Ursprungs bei Mertesdorf.
Die Region stellt das größte Steillagenweinbaugebiet der Welt und mit über 5.393 ha die größte Rieslinganbaufläche weltweit dar. De Moezel strekt zich in Duitsland uit tussen Koblenz en Trier (Rijnland-Palts). De streek is bekend om zijn voornamelijk witte wijnen van de Riesling, Elbling en Müller-Thurgau druiven.
