Friedberg (Hessen)
Friedberg (Hesse) is a medium-sized town on the northern edge of the Rhine-Main area and the administrative seat of the Wetteraukreis. In the Middle Ages, the former Free Imperial City and Trade Fair City was one of the most important cities in today's Hesse. The rich past can still be seen today in the well-preserved cityscape. Well-known sights include the former imperial castle, the Gothic town church and the medieval mikveh (Judenbad).
Friedberg is located about 30 km north of Frankfurt am Main in the Wetterau. The city is located on the Usa River just before its confluence with the Wetter. The city church in the center of the city is located at an altitude of 159 meters above sea level. To the west, the Friedberg district extends into the Taunus up to the 518-metre-high Steinkopf.
Friedberg borders in the north on the community of Ober-Mörlen, the town of Bad Nauheim and the community of Wölfersheim, in the east on the town of Reichelsheim, the town of Florstadt and the town of Niddatal, in the south on the community of Wöllstadt and the town of Rosbach vor der Höhe, and in the west on the community of Wehrheim (Hochtaunuskreis).

A Quick Trip to Friedberg, Germany
In this video I share some of the highlights of my quick trip to Friedberg, Germany.
Friedberg is a small town in Germany 25-kilometers away from Frankfurt am Main.
I visited Friedberg during the middle of August and it was surprisingly quiet. There were hardly any tourists around and my girlfriend that I had the town to ourselves to explore.
After an hour there wasn't much else to do in Friedberg so we continued on with the rest of our Central European and German road trip.

Number 7. Goethe House And Museum
If you want to know what the best things to do in Frankfurt are, you should go to the home where Johann Wolfgang von Goethe grew up. Goethe House is where he was born in 1749. He is known as Germany's best writer. He lived there until 1765, and now people can see how a wealthy family and their servants lived. Goethe's writing room, where he started many of his early projects, is on the top floor.
Number 6. Kleinmarkthalle
If you want to try out the local food, going to Kleinmarkthalle will be one of the best things you can do in Frankfurt. Locals love this market, and even if you don't want to buy anything, it's worth going to see. The market hall was built in 1954, and there are 150 stalls inside that sell some of the best local food in the country.
Number 5. Frankfurt Cathedral
In this German city, you have to see the Frankfurt Cathedral. St. Bartholomew's Cathedral is the full name of the Roman Catholic cathedral, but the locals call it Frankfurter Dom. The beautiful building is made of red sandstone, which gives it a bright colour that stands out in a city full of tall buildings.
Number 4. The Palm Garden
When it comes to the best things to do in Frankfurt, The Palm Garden has to be near the top. Since 1871, people have been able to visit this 54-acre garden, which is the largest in the country. You can look at outdoor botanical displays that have been set up to show where they are from. There are also a number of greenhouses where you can see tropical and subtropical plants.
Number 3. Maintower
On any list of fun things to do in Frankfurt, the Maintower has to be on it. This 200-meter-tall tower is in the middle of Frankfurt's Inner City. It has 56 floors and is one of the largest buildings in Germany. The Maintower was finished in 1999. It has a beautiful viewing platform on the roof. At the top of the Maintower, there are two places to look out that are open to the public.
Number 2. Museum District: Museumsufer
The Museum District is in Museumsufer, which is one of the best places to visit in Frankfurt. It has 16 museums on both the north and south sides of the River Main. The Stadel Art Museum, the Museum of World Cultures, and the Museum of Ancient Sculpture all show different parts of Frankfurt's history and culture. The Icon Museum is a rare place to see more than a thousand Christian Orthodox images. It is well worth a visit.
Number 1. Römerberg: Frankfurt's Old Town Centre
The Old Town, or Aldstadt, of Frankfurt is one of the best free things to do there. You can take a walk through the city's old streets and look at the beautiful architecture. The Justice Fountain is in the middle of the Romerberg, which is the main square in Frankfurt's Old Town. It is known as Frankfurt's most beautiful square, and both locals and tourists are always there. Romerberg is used for many things in Frankfurt all through the year, including Christmas markets.

I had a quiet wander around this historic medieval town. This town in Hessen is called Friedberg. And everything you will see today is because of the humanity of the people who negotiated and saved it on the 29th of March 1945. This town has the most incredible sights to see. It´s a treasure trove for people who are interested in German history and culture.
