Fredrikstad, Norway - City Tour & Drone, 4k
The cozy port town of Fredrikstad is located at the mouth of Norway's longest river, the Glomma, on the banks of the Oslofjord.
Fredrikstad is very bright and varied, especially in summer, when life in the city is in full swing! On the embankment, there is a walking promenade and parking for boats. Sounds of music and delicious smells can be heard from all sides because there are many cozy restaurants and cafes for every taste.
On Isegran Island there is a shipyard where restorers of sailing ships work. And also there is a water mill and a cozy garden with beautiful flowers. This is a favorite place for picnics among the townspeople.
The arch bridge of Fredrikstad is a recognizable symbol of the city and connects its western and eastern parts by crossing the Glomma River. Its length is 824 meters, and the sailing height is 39.5 places. The river is navigable to the city of Sarpsborg and large ships and sailboats often pass under the bridge!
There are three more bridges across the river in the city center that connect Fredrikstad with Kråkerøy and they are all drawbridges! It is interesting to watch how sailing ships pass under them, stopping the main movement of cars and pedestrians!
The old town of Fredrikstad is shaped like a star and was founded as a fortress in 1567 by King Frederick II. By the way, this is the best-preserved walled city in Northern Europe. It is saturated with history, but this is not a museum - people live and work here. Also on the cobbled streets, there are cafes, artisan shops, galleries, and shops, and people have been shopping here since 1640!
And of course, in the video, you will notice that the red city ferries (Byfergene) run along the river! They connect all the banks of the city and are very convenient and completely free public transport!

Gamlebyen is one of Northern Europe’s natural treasures. In well-preserved buildings and along cobbled streets you will find a blend of everyday life, art, history, quaint shops, museums, galleries, and charming cafés.
People have shopped here since 1640! There is a weekend flea market and a Christmas market on the weekends before Christmas. Every season in the Old Town has its charm and rewards your visit.

Fredrikstad is a city and municipality in Viken county, Norway. The city of Fredrikstad was founded in 1567 by King Frederick II, and established as a municipality on 1 January 1838.
The city straddles the river Glomma where it meets the Skagerrak, about 20 kilometres from the Sweden border. Along with neighboring Sarpsborg, Fredrikstad forms the fifth largest city in Norway:
Fredrikstad was built at the mouth of Glomma as a replacement after Sarpsborg (15 kilometres (9 miles) upstream) was burnt down by the Swedish Army in the 1500s. Some of the citizens stayed behind and rebuilt their old town at its original site and got their city status back in 1839.
The city centre is on the west bank of the Glomma, while the old town on the east bank is Northern Europe's best preserved fortified town.
Fredrikstad used to have a large sawmill industry and was an important harbour for timber export, then later on shipbuilding, until the main yard was closed in 1988. The main industries are currently various chemical plants and other light industry. In 2005, Fredrikstad was the final host port for the Tall Ships' Race, attracting thousands to the city. In 2019, it was the first host port.
In 2017, Fredrikstad won the national award for most attractive city. The award is given yearly by the Norwegian government on the basis of social, economic and environmental factors.

When snow falls in the Oslo Fjord, the old part of the city of Fredrikstad, which is located on the eastern bank of the Glomma River, becomes especially fabulous!
All the locals' dream of a White Christmas! Since snow does not always happen here due to the warm climate. And it is especially joyful when the snow coincides with Advent weekend because it is on such weekends that the Christmas market opens in the old town!

The old town of Fredrikstad, or Gamlebyen as it is called, is one of the best-preserved walled cities in Scandinavia. Erected in 1567 by the decree of King Frederick II in the traditions of Dutch architecture, the city has practically not changed its appearance - from ancient Renaissance buildings and cobbled streets to high earthen ramparts and ditches filled with water. On the Royal Square, there is a monument to the founding king Fredrik II, it is here that the central Christmas tree is placed and the center of the Christmas market is located.

We are traveling across Norway with a caravan Hymer Eriba Troll 530 Rockabilly. Most of our trips are relatively short and start from Fredrikstad in Norway. For those who are limited in time, you might discover what you could see during a two-day or three-day trip in Southern Norway.

Welcome to the amazing archipelago of Hvaler and A&A Travelling. Hvaler is a municipality in the southern part of Viken County, Norway. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Skjærhalden, on the island of Kirkeøy.
The name is the plural of hval, which means whale. The form and shape of the islands resemble a pod of whales. Until 1889, the name was spelled Hvaløerne meaning the whale isles....
South of the village of Skjærdalen lies a chain of a few inhabitable islands and several hundreds of smaller islands and rocks. The bigger islands are, Nordre Sandøy, Søndre Sandøy, Hærføl, Søndre Lauer, Nordre Lauer and the smaller Tisler island. Summer houses fill the landscape on all the islands except Søndre Lauer.
