Frederikssund, A small cozy city in Denmark
#Frederikssund is a #Danish #town, seat of the Frederikssund Municipality, in the Region #Hovedstaden with a population of 16,614. It received the status of market town in 1810. The town is famous for its annual #Viking #Games as well as for the J.F. Willumsen museum.
The recent #development of the town #center and the #old #commercial #harbour have given Frederikssund a new look which reflects its growing popularity as a residential area with connections to #Copenhagen and surroundings. It has all the facilities associated with a modern Danish town: museums, a public #library, supermarkets, a hospital and sports and recreation centers. With a location facing west over the #Roskilde #Fjord, it has many footpaths along the shores and up into the higher ground to the east. The local rail and bus services are well developed.

VIKINGS, KINGS, and QUEENS in Roskilde: Denmark's Historic Capital
Roskilde was the historic center of Denmark's Viking culture and royalty. We visited this charming town brimming with history on a quick and easy day trip from Copenhagen.
Our day started at the Viking Ship Museum on the shores of the Roskilde Fjord where five viking ships are on display. The ships were found sunk not far from the town and over a 20 year period they were recovered and painstakingly reconstructed into the stunning exhibits now on display. The museum is a great way to learn and gain an appreciation for Denmark's Viking past.
After the ship museum we went back into town to visit the impressive Roskilde Cathedral towering above the town. This giant brick cathedral is the final resting place for dozens of Denmark's past Kings and Queens. It was a fascinating way to walk through the history of the royal monarchy.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Denmark, Tisvildeleje Strand
Lovely child-friendly #beach with 25m wide #sandy #beach and #clean #water
#Tisvildeleje beach is located in the charming #holiday #village, at the end of the main street, in Tisvildeleje. Initially it was mainly fishermen and their boats that were on the beach, but in the period after when it became more attractive for tourists to go to the countryside and holiday, Tisvildeleje also became more popular. Among other things, it is the short distance to Copenhagen and the surrounding #nature to the lovely holiday #resort that has helped make beach and city the visited place it is today.
On the beach in Tisvildeleje you can see the charming and history-filled bathhouses. The small bathhouses create a very special atmosphere and can resemble a bygone era. Since the beginning of the 1900s, the bathhouses have been on the beach. Tisvildeleje has for 100 years been a popular holiday and excursion destination. Faxe kalk, (Limestone quarry) natural blue water in Denmark
When you go down into the #limestone #quarry, you are at the bottom of a 63 million year old #ocean.
You do this because 63 million years ago #Faxe limestone quarry was covered in #water, where giant #sharks, #crocodiles and many other exotic animals swam around. You can still find relics from this time when you visit the place, and that is exactly why the place is very popular with families with children. But also others are attracted by the many things that take place in and around Faxe limestone quarry.
The sharks, crocodiles and squids that swam around between corals when the lime quarry was covered with water are the ones that, together with the sea's many other animals and plant #organisms, formed the lime. The limestone therefore contains #fossils of all these corals, shark teeth, crab shields and mussel shells that were in the sea at that time 63 million years ago.

We start this video in a great piece of nature, just outside Roskilde Harbour.
It was a sunny day, with some clouds and as usual.. windy ????
There is a lot of activity in the area, and some fun stuff for the children.
The Viking museum is right next to the harbour, and you can see real Viking boats and how they make them.
Its very cool!
You can also go on a cruise around Roskilde Fjord with the beautiful old boat M/S Sagafjord, where you can eat on the restaurant and listen to great music.
On this particularly day, there was a Danish Open Water competition.
The water was very rough and some of the contestants, had to be rescued by boats.
You can see a start with mixed women and men @ 25:00
I think you need to be in pretty good shape to participate in this Open Water competition!

Denmark - Starting to head North
This is my first day of riding in Denmark. I followed route 1 (better known as part of the North Sea Cycle Route) north up the coast. The weather was great, the sun shone, the wind blew. I covered 60km and ended up at a fantastic little camping shelter by the river.

Winter Wonderland Gribskov
This video is all about our second trip to Gribskov forest but this time we are entering the forest from Kagerup, Nordsjælland. Gribskov is one of the biggest and oldest forest in Denmark. For our first full day in Copenhagen we decided to start off at Torvehallerne known for it amazing Smørrebrød and fresh danish baked fare. The market can be reached by the metro line and is located at Nørreport Station . We decided to create a mini series of Copenhagen paces to see since we were here longer and really loved the beautiful architecture and delicious foods it had to offer.
We tried a couple of things at the market which is a definite must do when visiting Copenhagen
