A Ray of Light traces its path across the commemorative stone. The Shrine of Remembrance is a building with a soul. Opened in 1934, the Shrine is the Victorian state memorial to Australians who served in global conflicts throughout their nation’s history. Inspired by Classical architecture, the Shrine was designed and built by veterans of the First World War.

4K - FRANKSTON - Gateway to the Mornington Peninsula - AMAZING beach and vibe - 31 Jan 2021

Frankston is approximately a 50-minute drive (55 kilometres) south of Melbourne and the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula.

The city of Frankston is a major regional cultural hub for the Mornington Peninsula area with a thriving arts community with historic homes, galleries, theatres, festivals and events at the McClelland Gallery and the Frankston Arts Centre.

There is a walking tour called the Frankston Coastal Arts Discovery Trail which covers the artistic and architectural history of Frankston's beach and waterfront. The trail can be accessed along the Frankston Boardwalk.

Frankston has a number of large informal nature reserves and great walking paths.

Large, formally designed parks in the area include Beauty Park and the George Pentland Botanical Gardens. It is a family-friendly place, with adventure playgrounds, a huge skate park and an indoor rock-climbing centre.

If the weather is not so sunny, you can visit the large local cinema complex, or browse through 250 retail outlets in the nearby shopping centre. Lots of dining options are available with a huge range of casual and ethnic restaurants and Frankston boasts one of the biggest shopping precincts outside the Melbourne CBD, with most major retailers and boutique brands.
The shopping centres trade seven days a week so if you're heading further along the Peninsula this is a good place to stock up on all your holiday needs.

There is an expansive waterfront featuring tree-shaded lawns, a themed playground, a broad promenade and a soft sand beach with shallow waters perfect for swimming.

4K - FRANKSTON PIER WALK

Frankston Pier is a 220m long walk (each way).

The pier is managed by Parks Victoria and is a popular spot for fishing and swimming.
There is an artificial reef that is home to a wide variety of fish.

The location provides a number of facilities close by, such as a restaurant, shopping facilities, restrooms, a playground, and rubbish bins.

Public berthing is available on Frankston Pier.

Jumping and diving off the pier and other structures are prohibited for public safety.
