In der ersten Episode führt die Route vom Triglav Nationalpark in Slowenien entlang des Hauptkamms der Karawanken. Hier verläuft seit 1920 die Grenze zum österreichischen Bundesland Kärnten mit der Landeshauptstadt Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. Der slowenische Pilot und Fotograf Matevž Lenarčič ist in seinem leichten Motorsegler unzählige Male über die Alpenkette geflogen - 100.000 Fotos sind so in luftiger Höhe entstanden.

In Radenthein betreibt Hans-Jörg Aschbacher das letzte Bauernbad Europas und Peter Lizzi bietet einer der größten Fledermauskolonien Europas Quartier. In Ferlach erlernt Pamela Mozetić die Kunst der Büchsenmacherei, die hier bis ins 16. Jahrhundert zurückreicht. In den Fischteichen von Heinrich Holler auf Gut Hornegg in Preding darf ein 40-jähriger Wels auf Lebenszeit wohnen. Johannes Zechner lebt mit seiner Familie am Fuße des mächtigen Burgfelsens, auf dem die Riegersburg thront. Als Aushilfsfalkner betreut er mächtige Greifvögel.

Historama – Ferlach (Austria) - Museum fuer Technik und Verkehr (Museum of Technology and Transport).
This is not just a museum of static exhibits, it’s an experience. We arrived at Weizelsdorf station in a vintage bus, where we transferred to a train of period coaches, hauled by a delightful little tank engine for a trip along the Rosental Valley Railway to Ferlach. The final leg to the museum was completed in one of the museum’s historic tram railcars. Once inside the main building we were given an introduction to the museum by our guide who explained that the area was once occupied by a steel works that closed in 1976 with the loss of around 800 jobs. Today the museum houses a wonderful collection of transport items, including trams, lorries, cars, planes, railway maintenance equipment, locomotives and rolling stock. The museum complex offers something for everyone, a great day out for both enthusiasts and families alike, a chance for parents or maybe grandparents to share memories and experiences from their childhood with today’s youngsters.

Tscheppaschlucht Gorge Austria
The Tscheppaschlucht Gorge is located in Carinthia, the southern region of Austria near Ferlach on the road to the Loiblpass on the border beyond Slovenia.At the beginning of the film, a view of a large parking lot at the exit to the trail. You can have a quick meal there too. Parking is charged EUR 2. Entry to the trail 8.5 EUR.The water rushing down the Tscheppaschlucht canyon created a wonderful picture and an amazing place. Deep gorges, steep and jagged cliffs, an impressive natural spectacle of a mountain stream and thundering waterfalls. You can see all this during our trip. In order to preserve the natural sensation, I did not put any music on to hear the natural sound of the stream better.Paths, bridges, ladders and trails are well secured, but it's better to have sturdy shoes on your feet. The absolute highlight of a hiking tour through Tscheppaschlucht is the Tschaukofall waterfall with its rock gate and the famous Devil's Bridge! Not only is the crystal clear water cascading down the gorge - the footbridges, paths and bridges of Tscheppaschlucht are also amazing!

Driver’s Eye View (Austria) - Ferlach Museum Railcar & Steam on the Rosentalbahn
Having enjoyed our tour of Ferlach Museum, the day still had one more treat in store for us as Electric Railcar - BiET 22 104 waited to transport our group from the museum to the Ferlach Rosentalbahn station. The beautifully restored railcar was constructed in 1912 by the Graz Waggon Factory, the driver kindly allowed me to place a camera in the cab for us all to enjoy his unique view of the line. Steam locomotive No. 88.103 was simmering in the platform at the Rosentalbahn station with its train of vintage carriages ready for the run back to Weizelsdorf. Once again the footplate crew kindly allowed me to mount a camera on their engine. At Weizelsdorf we had time to watch some shunting before catching the local ÖBB train, bringing to an end a most enjoyable day at the Rosentalbahn and Historama Museum fuer Technik und Verkehr (Museum of Technology and Transport).

EN: In winter, the road is free (we drove in January, toll Station was closed. In the season it costs 10 euros per car, 5 euros per motorcycle, the road section is 15 km. In any case, you leave the car somewhere 3 km from dam and walk uphill (along the stream for about 1.5 hours.), but in the off-season I recommend going along the road behind the barrier. You can drive up to the dam itself only from April to October by bus.

Дальше в любом случае вы оставляете машину где-то за 3 км. от дамбы и идете пешком в гору (вдоль ручья где-то 1,5 часа.), но в несезон рекомендую идти по дороге за шлагбаумом. Подъехать к самой дамбе получится только с апреля по октябрь на автобусе.

Далі у будь-якому випадку ви залишаєте машину десь за 3 км. від дамби і йдете пішки в гору (вздовж струмка десь 1,5 години), але в несезон рекомендую йти дорогою за шлагбаумом. Під'їхати до самої дамби вийде лише з квітня до жовтня автобусом.

The Loibl Pass (German: Loiblpass) or Ljubelj Pass (Slovene: prelaz Ljubelj) is a high mountain pass in the Karawanks chain of the Southern Limestone Alps, linking Austria with Slovenia. The Loibl Pass road is the shortest connection between the Carinthian town of Ferlach and Tržič in Upper Carniola and part of the European route E652 from Klagenfurt to Naklo.
Loibl Tunnel - During World War II, a 1,570 m (5,150 ft) meter long tunnel was built at 1,068 m (3,504 ft) above sea level by command of the Nazi Gauleiter of Carinthia, Friedrich Rainer, to bypass the steep upper parts of the mountain road. Work was performed by the Viennese Universale Hoch- und Tiefbau construction company, employing 660 civilian workers, several posted by the Service du travail obligatoire of Vichy France, and 1,652 forced labourers supplied by contract with the SS. These prisoners were interned in two minor subcamps of the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp, one on each side of the pass.
In summer, the old road pass provides access to hiking routes along the main ridge of Karawank Mountains. Almost every winter a sled run set up on the southern (Slovenian) side of the pass.

Austrian mountains and Krimml waterfall | Van life vlog
We loved our time in Austria and can't wait to go back soon. Our first stop was a relaxing few days in the mountains. We had heaps of time exploring the area, a waterfall and a cute little energy museum. It was a cloudy few days which meant we couldn't use much power but it was cosy, snuggly and perfect!
After that, we went to Krimml waterfalls. It was a long walk up but totally worth it to see Austria's highest waterfall.
Then the craziest part of our journey, we take the van onto a train to get through the mountains!! ????

The Tscheppaschlucht Gorge is a unique natural experience. Visitors can experience the enormous power of the plunging water and the bright splendour of many rare flowers.
The Tscheppaschlucht is located on the Austrian side of the Loibl Pass, which is the border between Austria and Slovenia. Cut into the rock by the Loiblbach, this is a nice walk if you spend your holiday here, or a fine stop on your way south to the holiday destination in Slovenia or Croatia.
From the parking lot, it is at 20 minutes walk to the ticket office. Here the gorge starts, the trail built along the rock face of the narrow valley. It becomes rather impressive at the High Ladder. After a little forest, a spiral staircase follows with a suspension bridge.
The gorge has 7 waterfalls. The most impressive one is the 26 m high Tschaukofall. It is reached by crossing the Teufelsbrücke ( Devil's Bridge).
