ALGARVE, PORTUGAL | 10 Incredible Places To Visit In The Algarve

The Algarve is the southernmost region of continental Portugal. Thanks to its year-round sunny weather and beautiful rugged coastline, it’s one of the most popular holiday destinations in all of Europe. In this video we highlight 10 diverse places to visit in the Algarve:

10. Sagres
Sitting at the westernmost tip of the Algarve, Sagres is the wildest and most untamed destination. Windswept, barren landscapes, towering cliffs, and rough waters are what set this place apart.

9. Portimão
Visit the Portimão museum if you want to learn more about its fishing and canning tradition, or go to the medieval Fort of Santa Catarina de Ribamar for panoramic views. But the biggest draw is undoubtedly Portimão’s nearby Praia da Rocha.

8. Faro & Ria Formosa
From cobblestone streets and cozy squares to a wide range of lagoons and wetlands, Faro boasts a blend of city and nature activities. We really enjoyed a boat tour in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, which is home to canals, marshland and small islands.

☑️ Book a boat tour:

7. Aljezur & West Coast Beaches
With wide-open beaches and sheer sea cliffs, the West Coast of the Algarve is a true hidden gem. It’s also another prime destination for surfing. We recommend Arrifana Beach if you’re a beginner or intermediate surfer.

6. Fishermen’s Village Ferragudo
With its white houses reaching down to the river, walking around this authentic fishing town is an experience in itself. But Praia Grande is also a great place to relax and enjoy watersports.

5. Lagos & Ponta da Piedade
Lagos has a wide range of cafés and restaurants to choose from, but also some historical sights, such as castle walls, churches, and a fort. Combine this with its spectacular coastline, filled with steep cliffs, caves, and grottoes, and you’ve got one of the most scenic destinations in the Algarve.

4. Serra de Monchique
Apart from beautiful beaches, the Algarve is also home to a rolling mountain range. The town of Monchique lies in pristine nature, surrounded by lush green forests. It’s an idyllic and authentic mountain town with sweeping vistas and a network of nature trails.

☑️ Book a tour to Monchique and Silves with Algarve Jipe Safari:

3. Silves
This historic town cascades down the hill, flowing out from beneath the beautiful Silves Castle (Castelo de Silves). Enjoy your time learning about the town’s history inside the castle walls as well as on the cobbled streets surrounding it.

2. The 7 Hanging Valleys
This 12km out-and-back hike takes between 4 to 6 hours to complete if you do the full route, and includes views of the Atlantic ocean as well as limestone rock formations. There is some elevation gain and loss as you climb up and down each of the valleys, but overall the hike is easy to moderate.

1. Benagil Cave
The Benagil Cave is a world-class natural attraction in the Algarve. Although it’s only a short distance from Benagil Beach, you still need a kayak, stand up paddle board, or guided boat tour to reach the caves safely.

ERICEIRA, PORTUGAL | 7 Fun Things To Do In Ericeira

Ericeira is a small coastal town located 50km from the Portuguese capital Lisbon. It’s often referred to as the surfing capital of Europe, with surfers from all over the world heading to its golden-sand and rocky beaches with great conditions. But apart from its surf-scene, Ericeira is also becoming increasingly popular among travelers. this is because of its amazing sunsets, beautiful coastline, and relaxing yoga vibes. We’ll now dive into 7 things to do in and around Ericeira.

7. Walk the town
Even though Ericeira is no longer the traditional fishing village that it once was, it's been able to retain its authentic character. With traditional white houses and cobbled streets, it’s fun to walk around the town and get lost in the narrow alleys. There’s also a wide selection of great restaurants and bars, like Amour Soul Café for happy hour drinks, Pepe Verde for pizza, and purple ice for its açai bowls.

6. Watch the sunset
Since Ericeira is located on the west coast of Portugal, it has some amazing sunset views over the ocean. One of the best sunset spots is right in the town center above Praia dos Pescadores. From here you can see the whole beach and take in the beautiful orange, red, and pink colors.

5. Friday night @ Quiksilver
Another fun thing to do in Ericeira is to visit the Boardriders Quiksilver. It’s located right outside of town and next to it is a skatepark. But even if you’re not interested in skateboarding, it’s a fun place to hang out, especially on Friday nights. With live music, food, and drinks, surfers and travelers come to chill and socialize here.

4. Hike at Tapada de Mafra
Located about 15km from Ericeira, Tapada de Mafra is a recreational space that was once used by the Portuguese royal family as a hunting ground. Nowadays, it has turned into a lush forest, inhabited by wild animals such as deers and wild boars. It’s a great place for hiking, biking, and simply enjoying nature. Surrounded by a 21km stone wall, this place has an official entrance and is only open during the day. You have to pay 5 euros to get in and there are multiple trails you can follow.

3. Day trip to Mafra Palace & Gardens
A more popular place to visit in Mafra is its National Palace. You can combine this activity after a hike at Tapada de Mafra on the same day or do it a day trip from Ericeira on its own. Built in the 18th Century on the orders of King Jaõa V, this palace covers an area of nearly 40,000 square meters. There are endless rooms, an imposing Basilica, and a library that you can visit. In fact, the library is thought to be one of the most beautiful in the world. Behind the palace, there is also a small garden with birds, flowers, a fountain, and a picnic area.

2. Hit the beaches
If there’s something you can’t miss in Ericeira, it’s definitely the beaches. Pescadores and Sul are two sandy beaches close to the center of town. But if you prefer more quiet beaches and you don’t mind driving out of town, there are also tons of other great options (Praia de São Lourenço, Praia de São Julião, Praia da Calada, and Praia da Foz do Lizandro).

1. Surfing
You cannot leave Ericeira without having surfed at least once. Ericeira was recognized as one of the best surf destinations in the world when two of its beaches (Empa Beach and São Lourenço Beach) were classified as a World Surfing Reserve. But if you’re new to surfing, we recommend taking a few surf lessons at beaches with smaller waves. We joined a surf class at Praia do Matadouro, which had decent waves for beginners, but actually had a rocky bottom.

PLACES TO GO IN ÓBIDOS | Portugal | Ginjinha, Castle and more!

TODAY'S PLAN: 1.Vila de Óbidos:

1.1. Vila Entrance
1.2. Rua Direita
1.3. Santa Maria’s Church
1.4. Santa Maria’s Square
1.5. Castle Walls
1.6.Óbidos Castle
1.7. Petrarum Domus Restaurant
2. Óbidos Lagoon

In today’s video, we visited the charming and beautiful Óbidos Vila.
As soon as we enter de Vila the double-arched main entrance caught our attention immediately, with its beautiful tiles and painted ceilings. After it, we got lost in Rua Direita, the main street of the Villa which is full of cafés, restaurants, craft, books, and souvenir Portuguese shops.
Almost at the end of this street, you can find Santa Maria’s Church, it’s a church from the XII century and it’s the most important church in the Villa. It was built for several centuries, that’s why it has lots of different styles mixed together. In the same square of the church, we found an XV century pillory to which wrongdoers would be tied naked for public humiliation and punishment.
After we search for the entrance to the Castle walls since you can walk the walls all around the Villa! It was really fun and gave us a different perspective of the vila and its surroundings. If you’re afraid of heights like Du it might be a little bit intimidating :P Then we trying some Ginjinha, which is a Portuguese cherry liquor, and you drink it from a cup of chocolate that you eat after! It was so good!! The lady from the liquor store told us a good restaurant to have lunch, so we went to have lunch at Petrarum Domus.
Finally, we left the Vila and went to explore the beautiful Óbidos Lagoon (Lagoa de Óbidos), with calm and clear water and perfect for water sports like kitesurfing and windsurf!
Hope that you guys enjoyed our day in Óbidos :)

Thank you.

TYPICAL FESTIVITIES OF MARCH: TOP THINGS TO DO IN PORTUGAL | BEST PLACES TO GO IN PORTUGAL (4K)

Hello! I was away for a week 'cause I was feeling truly uninspired with all the confinement going on since January... so I needed to step back for a while and get creative again! It didn't took me long and here I am with the best travel tips about Portugal, and - as promised - here are my monthly suggestions of Typical Festivities :)

In this video you'll learn about the Chocolate Festival of Óbidos (one of the most beautiful Medieval Villages of Portugal), a Fair that exists since the XV century in the coastal town of Aveiro... and a very creepy Pagan Tradition with Medieval origins that still takes place in the small village of Freixo de Espada-à-Cinta! These are festivities for all tastes and I am sure that if you attend any of them you'll have lots of fun!

This year these festivities were once again cancelled but they are happening online and you can learn more about them by using the following links:

FESTIVAL DO CHOCOLATE DE ÓBIDOS

FEIRA DE MARÇO

SETE PASSOS, FREIXO DE ESPADA-À-CINTA

Every month I will continue on providing information about what to visit in Portugal and the best things to do here... so stay tuned for more videos!

Let me know what you think about this by leaving a comment below!
All the best,

Our visit Lisbon travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide to Portuguese cuisine, top sightseeing tourist attractions including visiting churches, monasteries, parks, miradors, quirky neighborhoods, museums and castles. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Lisbon tourism brochure, Lisbon itinerary or Lisbon city tour also known as Lisboa, Portuguesa.

20 Things to do in Lisbon, Portugal Travel Video Transcript:

We feel like we know this city well, so in this Lisbon travel guide we’re going to show you around what we think are some of the best attractions. We only had 3 days in the city this time around, so this Lisbon itinerary will be perfect for any of you visiting on a long weekend escape.

We kicked off our first morning with a ride on Lisbon’s most iconic tram line:#28 bound for panoramic vistas and a hilltop castle. After postcard perfect views looking down over Alfama we went towards the castle, with a little detour offering a bit of street art.

St George Castle is a Moorish castle that looks down over the historic centre and the Tagus River. It’s one of the main tourist landmarks in the city and you get great views of Lisbon.

We circled back to visit the Jeronimos Monastery. Construction of this monastery was ordered by King Manuel, who selected the religious order of Hieronymite monks to occupy the monastery.

Pastéis de nata were created by the monks at the Jerónimos Monastery, and seeing as we were right next door, this was a very logical stop. After browsing at the Sunday Market we walked over to the Santa Justa Elevator, which is the only street lift in Lisbon for public service.

We hope you enjoyed our Lisbon travel guide and found it useful for planning your own trip. If you have any other suggestions of things to do in Lisbon please share those in the comments below.

This is part of our Travel in Portugal video series showcasing Portuguese food, Portuguese culture and Portuguese cuisine.

10 Things To Do in Lisbon, Portugal WITH THE WHOLE FAAMILY!

????Booking.com Deals

Touted as a modern metropolis to rival London and packed with places of interest, Lisbon is a city that is really going places. There is a plethora of history here, with tales of everything from Roman imperialists to exotic Berber pirates, Moorish builders to fierce Reconquista knights, all wrapped up in the grand palaces and heritage districts.

Welcome to things to do Channel, today we’re going to list ten things to do in Lisbon.

#10 Ride at Tram 28.

Like San Francisco in the United States, Lisbon is a city famed for its historic, rattling tram lines. None are more iconic than Tram 28 which has been working its way up the steep, cobbled roads and into the old Alfama district for decades.

#9 Shop at Feira de Ladra.

Polish your haggling skills for a trip to Feira da Ladra, because this sprawling midweek and weekend market is the place to go for quirky, curious and often downright weird trinkets and antiques.

#8 See the glory of Sintra.

Despite being a totally different city and situated more than half an hour away from Lisbon by car, the glorious town of Sintra remains one of the major attractions here. Day Trips are common, while others will want to spend a couple of days exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

#7 Check out the Lisbon Oceanarium.

Located out in the blue waters of the Tagus Estuary, the huge Lisbon Oceanarium rises like a hulking aircraft carrier. Inside, the structure houses countless exhibits related to marine life, which together pull in over one million visitors each year. You can get up close to colorful pufferfish as well as watch the marauding sharks.

#6 Meet the tides at Caxias.

Grab a board, wax it down, and don some board shorts or preferably a wetsuit, because the waters where the Tagus Estuary meets the Atlantic Ocean can get pretty chilly. Nestled just to the west of Lisbon central, this pretty enclave of sand and sea is where most of the capital’s wave riders will retreat at the weekend.

#5 Have a drink at Bairro Alto.

Apart from being the premier touristic district of Lisbon, packed with alfresco cafes and international restaurants, the Bairro Alto is also the city’s top nightlife spot. You’ll typically have to wait until early evening for the establishments to really get started, but when they do, it’s all about the authentic pastelaria bakeries and the bohemian drinking joints.

#4 Stroll around Rossio.

The plane tree peppered Rossio Square is where Lisbon’s local life ticks over each day. Officially titled Pedro IV Square, the spot marks the very heart of the Pombaline Lower Town, which spreads out in wide boulevards between the Tagus and Baixa rivers.

#3 Wonder at the masterworks of the National Museum of Ancient Art.

The National Museum of Ancient Art is the home of Portugal’s prestigious national art collection. Pieces here range from pious saintly depictions by Nuno Gonçalves to chiaroscuro portraiture by Josefa de Óbidos. Most of the canvases date from between the 16th and 19th centuries and came into public ownership following the Liberal Wars that rocked the country in the early modern age. Patrons here can also enjoy countless traveling exhibitions, with past collections reflecting Lisbon in the Renaissance period as well as featuring historical paintings from the Age of Discovery.

#2 Get lost in the Alfama District.

The compact little Alfama District is Lisbon’s answer to the old town centers of Europe’s other ancient capitals. Like the Forum of Rome, it’s hailed as the oldest part of the city, although this one dates back to the Moors of Africa instead of the kings of Latium. Delving into the warren of winding streets and alleys that forms the district is one of the top activities for visitors to Portugal’s capital. As you stroll, great cathedrals like the Lisbon Cathedral and tile-fronted chapels reveal themselves on the corners. There are also the remains of old city walls and hidden squares with alfresco cafes aplenty.

#1 Wonder at the Torre de Belém.

If there is just one landmark you visit when touring through the Portuguese capital, make it this one. It has stood watch over the mouth of the Tagus River since its construction under the patronage of Saint John back in the 16th century. Since then, it has risen to become perhaps the most iconic feature of the city, famed as the last sight adventurers like the prodigal Vasco da Gama would have seen as they drifted out into the vast Atlantic Ocean
