Walking on a frozen lake in Stockholm | Frozen Lake Sweden | Frusen insjö i Sverige | Ravalen
It was -10 degrees celsius on the day I went for a walk in the forest which surrounds the Ravalen lake. It was 2 days after we received the heaviest snowfall of the winter. I didnt expect to see the lake completely frozen beneath a thick layer of snow. Especially because I had been there just a month back, around the last week of December, expecting the lake to be frozen as it was a cold December. But, although there was some ice formation at different areas of the lake, the lake wasnt frozen. This time, however, to my surprise, Ravalen lake was frozen.
I have put in a video before the recent video of the lake, that I took in December when there was some ice formation on the lake, just to give an idea of how much it has frozen.
I noticed few people at the other side of the lake walking on it, and so decided to give it a try.
About Ravalen Lake:
Ravalen is a flat lake in the Sollentuna municipality of Stockholm district in Sweden. The lake is 1.9 meters deep, has an area of 0.301 square kilometers and is located 12 meters above sea level. One can see variety of bird life in the lake especially during summer. There are two bathing spots by the lake. The southern part is part of the Östra Järvafältet nature reserve.

Birka - The Viking City
Birka - The Viking City was founded in the mid 700’s at the island Björkö in Lake Mälaren. It is one of Sweden’s 15 World Heritage Sites on UNESCO’s list. It’s also considered to be Sweden’s first city.
The video shows some of the highlights from a day trip by boat from Stockholm City to Björkö. You will see the museum, reconstruction of Viking houses, boats, remains and graves.

In a freshwater lake next to the Stockholm Arlanda airport where boats are forbidden you can go boarding or waterskiing. Everything is there to rent and there is even a restaurant. Price list in the first frames of the video.

Jag har ingen koppling till verksamheten utan stannade idag för att dokumentera. Jag spanar på flygplan i närheten och passerar ofta här men detta var mitt första besök.
