Eunápolis is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Bahia , in the Northeast region of Brazil. It is located 522 km from Salvador , the state capital, [ 9 ] 1 661 km from Brasília , the Federal capital [ 10 ] and 55 km from Porto Seguro . [ 11 ] It occupies an area of 1,425,970 km², [ 12 ] bordering the municipalities of Itabela , Itagimirim , Itapebiand Guaratinga. People born in this municipality are called Eunapolitanas. Eunápolis before its emancipation, was a village, with rapid growth, becoming the largest town in the world, belonging to the municipalities of Porto Seguro and Santa Cruz Cabrália, its name was given in honor of the engineer Eunápio Peltier de Queiróz, state secretary of Transport and Public works of the time (1954), which was responsible for the purchase of 100 hectares of land, donating them for the formation of the village. [ 13 ] On May 12, 1988, pursuant to State Law 4770/1988, a bill was approved by the Legislative Assembly of Bahia, proposing the creation of a new municipality. became a city. [ 14 ]
Its population, according to IBGE estimates for 2021, was 115,360 [ 5 ] inhabitants

Porto Seguro (region initially called Nhoesembé) is a municipality located in the south of the state of Bahia , in Brazil . It shares, with the neighboring municipalities of Santa Cruz Cabrália and Prado , the primacy of being the place of arrival of the Portuguese in Brazil in 1500. The village that gave rise to the municipality of Porto Seguro was founded in 1535 and is listed in almost its entirety by the historical heritage , not being allowed the construction of tall buildings (with more than two floors). [ 2 ] [ 10 ] It is cut by the Buranhém River.
Its population, according to IBGE estimates for 2021, was 152,529 inhabitants. [ 6 ]
