Roatán, Honduras - Gumbalimba Park Cruise Excursion and Mahogany Bay ????????
Our visit to Mahogany Bay and the Gumbalimba Park on the beautiful tropical island of Roatán in Honduras! ????
Roatán in Honduras was our first port of call on our 7 night Caribbean cruise aboard the Carnival Glory from New Orleans. Mahogany Bay is the main port area on the island for @Carnival while some other cruise lines stop at The Port of Roatán at Coxen Hole.
Mahogany Bay is a really great port with lots to do. There's restaurants, bars and shops. There's a beautiful private beach where you can go swimming, snorkelling, and paddle boarding or just enjoy the sunshine.
We wanted to see a little more of Roatán so we booked the Monkeys, Birds and Pirates of the Caribbean excursion and loved it! We were taken to Gumbalimba Park on the southern tip of Roatán.
Gumbalimba Park has lots of animals you can get up close to including white-face Capuchin monkeys, the largest population of black Iguanas in the Caribbean and free-flying exotic birds including macaws, parrots, and hummingbirds.
Our guide took us on a nature trail through the jungle to see animals such as sloths and iguanas roaming free. There's waterfalls, suspension bridges and an old pirate cave where you can learn more about the buccaneers who visited Roatán.
If that's not enough for you, you can also zipline through the jungle. Gumbalimba Park’s Monkey Trail Canopy Tour has 17 platforms with 13 stretches of cable. We were raging we didn't do that!
We really enjoyed our cruise excursion in Roatán. I would definitely suggest that the best way to see the island is to do an excursion. You could always take a taxi too.
We heard some really great things about Mahogany Bay too. The Magical Flying Beach Chair to Mahogany Beach is meant to be great.
We'd a great time in Honduras. Gumbalimba Park is a great excursion for all the family and I'd highly recommend it. Roatán is a really beautiful island so if you are stopping at Mahogany Bay, I would recommend you venture beyond the port and out into the island. ????

When it comes to covid regulations, many places are now open, however there is not much traffic. You are required to wear masks in public areas, such as restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, pharmacies etc.

A few weeks ago my husband and I went downtown looking for black hair care products which can be scare in San Pedro Sula. While there we met a family who helped us with our Spanish and told us about someone who could braid hair in Rivera Hernandez. She was only in town for the week because she lives in Triunfo de La Cruz. Listen in on all of her wisdom as she braids my hair and I make new friendships!
Now we heard that RH had a reputation but took precautions like we would in any city. What we found were friends, amazing people, and the best hair braider!
