Best 21 Places To Visit in East Coast - Tourist Attractions in USA

best 21 places to visit in east coast usa - road trip

Alternating between mythical cities and insolent nature, the East Coast of the United States is a cocktail of diverse destinations.

New York, the city that never sleeps: certainly essentials, but it would be a shame to reduce it to a getaway in the Big Apple.

The region has other attractions from Philadelphia to Boston via Washington DC Visiting these metropolises unveils the crucial moments in American history, from the declaration of independence to the Civil War, from the saga Kennedy to the more recent inaugurations of Barack Obama or Donald Trump.

The cultural offerings of Philadelphia and Washington deserve all the superlatives; sur y is one of the finest museums and private collections in the world. Pittsburgh is no exception.

Named the third best world destination in 2015 by Condé Nast Traveler, this city continues to grow and has nothing to envy of its more popular neighbors.

The east coast also appeals to nature lovers. The surroundings of the big cities are grandiose, like the forests of the Shenandoah Valley, near D.C., or the Amish lands of Lancaster County just a stone's throw from Philly. The state of New York, shaded by the city of the same name, is full of waterfalls, vineyards and pretty beaches. Niagara Falls is one of the highlights.

Travelers cannot be encouraged enough to venture into New England with a first stopover on Cape Cod. Its long, wild beaches and lighthouses deserve a visit that will not fail to be coupled with a memorable excursion to the great of the astonishing small town of Provincetown or the island of Nantucket to meet the whales.

And still further north, here we are at the heart of the Appalachian chain, this backbone of the American East.

New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont offer visitors here their natural treasures: White Mountains, Green Mountains and Acadia National Park.

A paradise for hikers, from the bucolic path to the arduous ascent, with, as a reward along the way, splendid panoramas.

It is in the fall that a trip to New England is essential when the forests are adorned with incandescent colors. And who knows, the moose might just give the lucky traveler a bow. And count on the warm welcome of the Americans to make this stay unforgettable!

Shoshone falls is often called the Niagara of the west because it is one of the biggest waterfalls in the whole country. Surprisingly, at 200 feet tall, Shoshone falls is actually a little taller than Niagara Falls, which is about 188 feet at its highest point but of course much wider.

The Perrine bridge is an impressive truss arch bridge which towers almost 500 feet above the Snake River Canyon, making it the eighth-tallest bridge in the USA. There are so many vantage points where you can observe the bridge from different angles.

Another must see sight in Twin Falls is a spectacular tall waterfall called the Perrine Coulee Falls.

Just an hour and a half from twin falls, you can find a totally unexpected landscape at the Bruneau Dunes State Park. In the visitor center, you can enjoy their collection of Idaho fossils and animals, buy some cool souvenirs, and even rent a sand board.

On the way back to Twin Falls, we go by the Malad Gorge unit of Thousand Springs state park, which is midway between the Bruneau dunes and Twin falls. Malad gorge is a pristine section of the Snake River with dramatic canyon views.

Twin Falls and its surrounding views of the rocky hills and rushing Snake River are breathtakingly beautiful. The Snake River is the lifeblood of Idaho’s economy, providing electricity and irrigation to farmlands. It’s one of the most important rivers in the pacific northwest.

Just 45 minutes north of Twin Falls, you can have a completely unforgettable experience at the impressive Mammoth Cave.

If you’re headed farther east, the Craters of the moon National Monument is a very interesting place to explore. Do note that if you already went to the Mammoth cave, you won’t be allowed to go in the caves at Craters of the Moon.

How to Visit Thousand Springs State Park in Southern Idaho

When we were spending time exploring the beautiful landscape of Southern Idaho, Thousand Springs State Park came to our attention. It is a lesser-known state park, considering that is only about 30 minutes or so from the popular Shoshone Falls. The park has 6 separate units, with 4 of them being developed and worth a visit. Each of these units is remarkable in its own way. This park is proof of why this rugged area of southern Idaho is called the Magic Valley. It has everything from clear, teal water, to gorgeous waterfalls, and magnificent gorges; not to mention the mesmerizing springs tumbling down from the side of the lush green hills!

Perrine's Bridge is the second oldest covered bridge in the State of New York, after the Hyde Hall Bridge in East Springfield. Once located in the hamlet called Perrines Bridge between 1850 and 1861. It is located in the modern day town of Esopus-Rosendale, New York just a few hundred feet to the east of Interstate 87 crossing of the Wallkill River in Ulster County, New York. Originally built to aid in the movement of trade between the towns of Rifton and Rosendale, the bridge is about 90 miles north of New York city between mile markers 81 and 82 on the New York State Thruway (Interstate 87). In May 1834 the State of New York authorized and provided money ($700) to Ulster county, NY (which invested $1500), to build the bridge. In 1835, the bridge was built by Benjamin Wood (b. 1780 d. 1838), the one-lane wooden covered bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic since 1930. The Bridge derives its name from James W. Perrine (b. 1780 d. 1849), a descendant of Daniel Perrin The Huguenot, who was a tavern keeper that opened an inn on the east side of that future bridge in 1820. Perrine's son was hired each winter as the snower. He would spread snow the length of the structure so horse-drawn sleighs could cross.[2]

It was declared as a New York Historical site in 1966 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places as of April 13, 1973.[1] It has been restored many times, the last in 1997 at a cost of $195,000.

Twin Falls is a city in southern Idaho. It’s known as a gateway to Snake River Canyon, which lies just to the north. At the canyon’s eastern end, Shoshone Falls cascades over a broad series of rocks. Trails along the canyon rim lead to the towering Perrine Bridge, which offers panoramic views and is a popular launching point for BASE jumpers. At the town’s northern edge, Perrine Coulee Falls tumbles over a cliff.
